Process Evaluation of Peer Education for Sexual and Reproductive Health among Junior Middle School Students

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the process of peer education for sexual and reproductive health, and to provide basis for implemention of sexual peer education among junior middle school students. Methods From grade one of 3 junior middle schools,124,145 and 133 students were two-stage stratified sampled,who accepted traditional education and education of classmate peers and grade two peers.In group activity,the evaluation methods included questionnaire, observation,focus group discussion and personal in-depth interview. Results The project was well implemented, the students study hard. Most of the students and the teachers held positive attitude toward the peer education. Peer education by classmate peers and higher grade peers had their own advantages and shortages. Group activity and the education process were popular, but there were some drawbacks in other details in education process. Conclusion Sexual peer education has good acceptability. Process evaluation provides experiences for further implementation of sexual peer education.
