Under the assumption of Extended Riemann Hypothesis, we obtainnew remainder terms in the upper bounds on primes represented by f（m） or f（p） which greatlyimprove Bantle’s recent results. As an application, we obtain, in the second part of the paper,a new result on the lower bound of the least primes in arithmetic progressions with some differ-ence.

Abstract:In his 1979 paper Samuel Wagstaff studied the problem of bounding the first prime in an arithmetic progression. In this paper we update a number of his computations using advances in hardware. Based on this we refine his conjecture on Primes in Arithmetic Progression and provide further numerical evidence in support of it. For instance we conjecture that for $n>3$ we have a bound of $3\phi(n)\log(n)\log(\phi(n))$ and verified this bound to $10^8$.

Abstract:The problem of the least prime number in an arithmetic progression is one of the most important topics in Number Theory. In [11], we are the first to study the relations between this problem and Goldbach's conjecture. In this paper, we further consider its applications to Goldbach's conjecture and refine the result in [11]. Moreover, we also try to generalize the problem of the least prime number in an arithmetic progression and give an analogy of Goldbach's conjecture.

Abstract:In this Note, we try to study the relations between the Goldbach Conjecture and the least prime number in an arithmetic progression. We give a new weakened form of the Goldbach Conjecture. We prove that this weakened form and a weakened form of the Chowla Hypothesis imply that every sufficiently large even integer may be written as the sum of two distinct primes. Résumé La conjecture de Goldbach et le plus petit nombre premier dans une progression arithmétique Dans ce document, nous essayons d'étudier les relations entre la conjecture de Goldbach et le plus petit nombre premier dans une progression arithmétique. Nous donnons une nouvelle forme faible de la conjecture de Goldbach. Nous prouvons que cette forme affaiblie et une forme affaiblie de l'hypothèse de Chowla impliquent que tout entier pair suffisamment grand peut être écrit comme une somme de deux nombres premiers distincts.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a large odd prime, let $x=(\log p)^{1+\varepsilon}$ and let $q\ll\log\log p$ be an integer, where $\varepsilon>0$ is a small number. This note proves the existence of small prime quadratic residues and prime quadratic nonresidues in the arithmetic progression $a+qm\ll x$, with relatively prime $1\leq a<q$, unconditionally. The same results are generalized to small prime $k$th power residues and nonresidues, where $k\mid p-1$ and $k\ll\log\log p$.

Abstract:Given an integer $m \geq 2$ and a sufficiently large $q$, we apply a variant of the Maynard--Tao sieve weight to establish the existence of an arithmetic progression with common difference $q$ for which the $m$-th least prime in such progression is $\ll_m q$, which is best possible. As we vary over progressions instead of fixing a particular one, the nature of our result differs from others in the literature. Furthermore, we generalize our result to dynamical systems. The quality of the result depends crucially on the first return time, which we illustrate in the case of Diophantine approximation.

Abstract:Let $E_x(q,a)$ be the error term when counting primes in arithmetic progressions and let $M(Q)=\sum_{q\leq Q}\phi(q)\sum_{a=1}^qE_x(q,a)^3$. We show that $M(Q)<<Q^3(x/Q)^{7/5}$ for large $Q$ close to $x$ (in the usual BDH sense) thereby showing that sign changes in the error give power saving cancellation past the expected $\sqrt {x/q}$ heuristic.

Abstract:We prove a version of the prime number theorem for arithmetic progressions that is uniform enough to deduce the Siegel–Walfisz theorem, Hoheisel's asymptotic for intervals of length , a Brun–Titchmarsh bound, and Linnik's bound on the least prime in an arithmetic progression as corollaries. Our proof uses the Vinogradov–Korobov zero-free region, a log-free zero density estimate, and the Deuring–Heilbronn zero repulsion phenomenon. Improvements exist when the modulus is sufficiently powerful.

Abstract:Let N be an odd perfect number. Then, Euler proved that there exist some integers n , α and a prime q such that N = n 2 q α , q ∤ n , and q ≡ α ≡ 1 mod 4 . In this note, we prove that the ratio σ ( n 2 ) q α is neither a square nor a square times a single prime unless α = 1 . It is a direct consequence of a certain property of the Diophantine equation 2 l n 2 = 1 + q + ⋯ + q α , where l denotes one or a prime, and its proof is based on the prime ideal factorization in the quadratic orders Z [ 1 − q ] and the primitive solutions of generalized Fermat equations x β + y β = 2 z 2 . We give also a slight generalization to odd multiply perfect numbers.

Abstract:Let $p\geq3$ be a large prime and let $n(p)\geq2$ denotes the least quadratic nonresidue modulo $p$. This note sharpens the standard upper bound of the least quadratic nonresidue from the unconditional upper bound $n(p)\ll p^{1/4\sqrt{e}+\varepsilon}$ to the conjectured upper bound $n(p)\ll (\log p)^{1+\varepsilon}$, where $\varepsilon>0$ is a small number, unconditionally. This improvement breaks the exponential upper bound barrier.
