Abstract:In this work and its sister paper [5] we give a new proof of the famous Linnik theorem bounding the least prime in an arithmetic progression. Using sieve machinery in both papers, we are able to dipense with the log-free zero density bounds and the repulsion property of exceptional zeros, two deep innovations begun by Linnik and reelied on in earlier proofs.

Abstract:The problem of the least prime number in an arithmetic progression is one of the most important topics in Number Theory. In [11], we are the first to study the relations between this problem and Goldbach's conjecture. In this paper, we further consider its applications to Goldbach's conjecture and refine the result in [11]. Moreover, we also try to generalize the problem of the least prime number in an arithmetic progression and give an analogy of Goldbach's conjecture.

Abstract:We prove an upper bound on the density of zeros very close to the critical line of the family of Dirichlet L‐functions of modulus q at height T. To do this, we derive an asymptotic for the twisted second moment of Dirichlet L‐functions uniformly in q and t. As a second application of the asymptotic formula, we prove that, for every integer q, at least 38.2% of zeros of the primitive Dirichlet L‐functions of modulus q lie on the critical line.

Abstract:We develop a sieve that can detect primes in multiplicatively structured sets under certain conditions. We apply it to obtain a new $L$-function free proof of Linnik's problem of bounding the least prime $p$ such that $p\equiv a\pmod q$ (with the bound $p \ll q^{350}$) as well as a new $L$-function free proof that the interval $(x-x^{39/40}, x]$ contains primes for every large $x$. In a future work we will develop the sieve further and provide more applications.

Abstract:In this Note, we try to study the relations between the Goldbach Conjecture and the least prime number in an arithmetic progression. We give a new weakened form of the Goldbach Conjecture. We prove that this weakened form and a weakened form of the Chowla Hypothesis imply that every sufficiently large even integer may be written as the sum of two distinct primes. Résumé La conjecture de Goldbach et le plus petit nombre premier dans une progression arithmétique Dans ce document, nous essayons d'étudier les relations entre la conjecture de Goldbach et le plus petit nombre premier dans une progression arithmétique. Nous donnons une nouvelle forme faible de la conjecture de Goldbach. Nous prouvons que cette forme affaiblie et une forme affaiblie de l'hypothèse de Chowla impliquent que tout entier pair suffisamment grand peut être écrit comme une somme de deux nombres premiers distincts.

Primes in arithmetic progressions to large moduli, and Goldbach beyond the square-root barrier

Abstract:We show the primes have level of distribution $66/107\approx 0.617$ using triply well-factorable weights. This gives the highest level of distribution for primes in any setting, improving on the prior record level $3/5=0.60$ of Maynard. We also extend this level to $5/8=0.625$, assuming Selberg's eigenvalue conjecture. As applications of the method, we obtain new upper bounds for twin primes and for Goldbach representations of even numbers $a$. For the Goldbach problem, this is the first use of a level of distribution beyond the square-root barrier, and leads to the greatest improvement on the problem since Bombieri-Davenport from 1966. Our proof optimizes the Deshouillers-Iwaniec spectral large sieve estimates, both in the exceptional spectrum and uniformity in the residue $a$, refining Drappeau-Pratt-Radziwill and Assing-Blomer-Li.

Abstract:We prove a version of the prime number theorem for arithmetic progressions that is uniform enough to deduce the Siegel–Walfisz theorem, Hoheisel's asymptotic for intervals of length , a Brun–Titchmarsh bound, and Linnik's bound on the least prime in an arithmetic progression as corollaries. Our proof uses the Vinogradov–Korobov zero-free region, a log-free zero density estimate, and the Deuring–Heilbronn zero repulsion phenomenon. Improvements exist when the modulus is sufficiently powerful.

Abstract:We establish quantitative lower bounds for the number of primes $p$ such that, for an odd integer $b$, $p - b \leq N$ and $p - b = 2^{k(N) + m} P_k \quad \text{for some } m \geq 0$, where $P_k$ is a product of at most $k$ primes other than 2, for $k \geq 2$. These results hold under various upper bounds for $2^{k(N)}$ depending on $k $, specifically when $2^{k(N)} \leq N^a$ for different values of $a$. Our approach combines techniques from Chen's theorem, weighted sieves, and Selberg's lower bound sieve, as well as results on primes in arithmetic progressions with large power factor moduli.

Upper Bounds for the Lowest First Zero in Families of Cuspidal Newforms

Abstract:Assuming the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis, the non-trivial zeros of $L$-functions lie on the critical line with the real part $1/2$. We find an upper bound of the lowest first zero in families of even cuspidal newforms of prime level tending to infinity. We obtain explicit bounds using the $n$-level densities and results towards the Katz-Sarnak density conjecture. We prove that as the level tends to infinity, there is at least one form with a normalized zero within $1/4$ of the average spacing. We also obtain the first-ever bounds on the percentage of forms in these families with a fixed number of zeros within a small distance near the central point.

Abstract:In his 1979 paper Samuel Wagstaff studied the problem of bounding the first prime in an arithmetic progression. In this paper we update a number of his computations using advances in hardware. Based on this we refine his conjecture on Primes in Arithmetic Progression and provide further numerical evidence in support of it. For instance we conjecture that for $n>3$ we have a bound of $3\phi(n)\log(n)\log(\phi(n))$ and verified this bound to $10^8$.

Abstract:Meher et al. [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 147 (2019)] have recently established that $L-$functions attached to certain cusp forms of half-integral weight have infinitely many zeros on the critical line. Kim [J. Numb. Th. 253 (2023)] obtained analogous results for $L-$functions attached to cusp forms twisted by an additive character $e\left(\frac{p}{q}n\right)$, $\frac{p}{q}\in\mathbb{Q}$. We extend the results of these authors by giving a lower bound for the number of such zeros. We start by developing a variant of a method of de la Val\'ee Poussin which seems to have interest as it avoids the evaluation of exponential sums. We finish the paper with an improvement of our first estimate by using Lekkerkerker's variant of the Hardy-Littlewood method.

Abstract:We give a conditional lower bound on the number of non-trivial simple zeros for the Dedekind zeta function , where K is a quadratic number field. The conditional result is given by assuming a Lindelöf condition on average (in the sense) for both and , which can be seen as a stronger version of Conrey–Gonek–Ghosh's (Invent Math 86:563–576, 1986) conditional result. This improves upon the work of Wu and Zhao (Mathematika 65:851–861, 2019), who had a similar result.

Abstract:In this article, we aim to establish a prototype result regarding lower bounds of (joint) distributions of central $L'$-values through extending a method of Radziwill and Soundararajan of proving conditional bounds for distributions of central $L$-values (via the one-level density of low-lying zeros of involving $L$-functions). To illustrate this, we give several conditional bounds towards joint distributions of central $L'$-values and orders of Tate-Shafarevich groups in rank-one families of quadratic twists. As an application, we derive a simultaneous non-vanishing result for central $L'$-values in families of quadratic twists of triples of holomorphic modular forms.

Abstract:In 2016, Fei \cite{fei2016application} established a bound on the Siegel zeros for real primitive Dirichlet characters modulo $q$, assuming the weak Hardy-Littlewood conjecture. Building on Fei's work, Jia \cite{jia2022conditional} demonstrated the same bound using a stronger version of the Hardy-Littlewood conjecture.
