Abstract:To solve the polynomial equation f(z)=0, this paper proposes a modified Weierstrass iteration and investigates its convergence and initial condition. It proves that the convergence has order 3 under the initial condition, and that the initial condition only depends on the initial point.

Abstract:In this paper, we first establish a rational iteration method which can be used as a root-finding algorithm for almost every polynomial. It has no nonrepelling extraneous fixed point in the complex plane and is generally convergent for both quadratic and cubic polynomials. Then some properties of this algorithm are given. By the aid of computer, we produce pictures of the Julia sets for the iterations of some polynomials. Numerical results show that it is a root-finding method with convergence order the same as Halley's method.

Abstract:In 2016, Nedzhibov constructed a modification of the Weierstrass method for simultaneous computation of polynomial zeros. In this work, we obtain local and semilocal convergence theorems that improve and complement the previous results about this method. The semilocal result is of significant practical importance because of its computationally verifiable initial condition and error estimate. Numerical experiments to show the applicability of our semilocal theorem are also presented. We finish this study with a theoretical and numerical comparison between the modified Weierstrass method and the classical Weierstrass method.

Abstract:In this paper, the estimate of the radius of the convergence ball of the modified Halley’s method for finding multiple zeros of nonlinear equations is provided under the hypotheses that the derivative f ( m + 1) of function f is Hölder continuous, and f ( m + 1) is bounded. The uniqueness ball of solution is also established. Finally, some examples are provided to show applications of our theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove some general convergence theorems for the Picard iteration in cone metric spaces over a solid vector space. As an application, we provide a detailed convergence analysis of the Weierstrass iterative method for computing all zeros of a polynomial simultaneously. These results improve and generalize existing ones in the literature.

Abstract:The convergence of the King-Werner method for finding zeros of nonlinear operators is analyzed. Under the hypothesis that the derivative of f satisfies the radius Lipschitz condition with L-average, the convergence criterion and the Convergence ball for the King-Werner method are given. Abstract:In this paper, we study the convergence of Newton's method for solving the equation f (x) = 0 where f is a mapping from the two step nilpotent Lie group to its Lie algebra. By introducing the L average Lipschitz condition on Lie groups and using the majorizing function technique, a convergence criterion of Newton's method to find zeros of f is established. Some applications to special cases including the classical Lipschitz condition, ?-condition as well as analytic mappings are provided, and so the well-known Kantorovich theorem and the Smale a-theory are extended to the two step nilpotent Lie group. In particular, by developing the approximate singular point for f, the Smale point estimate theory is also extended to the two step nilpotent Lie group.

Abstract:Consider the following variational inclusion problem: where f is differentiable in a neighbourhood of a solution and g is differentiable at , and F is a set-valued mapping, and the method introduced in Jean-Alexis and Pietrus [C. Jean-Alexis and A. Pietrus, On the convergence of some methods for variational inclusions, Rev. R. Acad. Cien. serie A. Mat. 102(2) (2008), pp. 355–361] for solving this problem: where ∇f(x) denotes the Fréchet derivative of f at x and [x, y; g] the first-order divided difference of g on the points x and y. Local converge analysis are provided for the method under the weaker conditions than Jean-Alexis and Pietrus (2008). Moreover, if ∇f and the first-order divided difference of g are p-Hölder continuous at a solution, then we show that this method converges superlinearly. In particular, our results extend the corresponding ones Jean-Alexis and Pietrus (2008), and fix a gap in the proof in (Jean-Alexis and Pietrus (2008), Theorem 1).

Abstract:In this paper we present some substantial modifications and improvements for some derivative-free iterative formulae. We propose some new methods which are convergent iterative formulae of order 1 + root 2 approximate to 2.414 with only two evaluations of f per step. Thus the new methods enjoy the efficiency index root(1 + root 2) approximate to 1.554. Especially, a new method of self-accelerating regula falsi type with global convergence for finding a simple root p of a nonlinear equation f(x) = 0 in the interval [a, b] is offered in this paper. The new method of self-accelerating regula falsi type is shown to be convergent with order 1 + root 2 approximate to 2.414 for both the sequences of diameters {(b(n) - a(n))} and the iterative points {x(n)}. The new method has been tested on a series of published examples. The numerical results demonstrate that the new method is more effective. Furthermore, we introduce a derivative-free transformation for multiple zeros and consider its error analysis and then demonstrate its superiority by comparing it with the traditional ones. Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the convergence of modified Numerov's method in Q. Gao, X.L. Cheng and Z.D. Huang [Modified Numerov's method for inverse Sturm-Liouville problems, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 253 (2013), pp. 181-199] for computing symmetric potentials from finite Dirichlet eigenvalues. A sufficient condition for convergence of the estimate to the true potential is given and the rate of convergence is investigated. The proof relies on the asymptotics of eigenvalues of the Sturm-Liouville operator and the errors in the finite difference eigenvalues obtained by Numerov's approach. Some numerical experiments are presented to confirm the theoretically predicted convergence properties.

Abstract:Convergence of Newton-like iteration for the non-differentiable operator is considered. Dividing the non-differentiable operator F into two parts:the differentiable part H and the non-differentiable part G,making use of the modified iteration formula used by Hernndez,the convergence of the iteration is analyzed. Compared with the result of Hernndez's,the theorem needs milder condition and draw the better conclusion for error estimate.

Abstract:We presented a family of iteration methods for solving the approximate solutions of the nonlinear equations f(x)=0.We proved the iteration methods have third-order convergence,and the methods have the advantage of avoiding the computation of the second Frechet derivative.We performed different numerical tests that confirm the theoretical results.Our methods can compete with Newton's method and some classical third-order methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we further study free-derivative iteration method. Al-though in a recent paper[1] we presented a free-derivative iteration method withconvergence of both point and interval diameter sequences, the asymptotic con-vergence rate is of order two with two function evaluations per step. It turns outthat the asymptotic rate of this iteration procedure can be improved after somemodifications without any additional function evaluations. We show that theasymptotic convergence rate of the revised iteration version is of order 1+/2.

Abstract:As a generalization of the Bernstein polynomials,the q-Bernstein polynomials and the Stancu polynomials,a class of broader polynomials called the multivariate qoStancu polynomials defined on the normal simplex is introduced.With the partial continuity modulus and the full continuity modulus of multivariate function as a metric,the uniform convergence theorem of the generalized multivariate Stancu polynomials to any continuous functions is proved,and the estimation of the convergence order is also obtained.Finally,an example shows the validity of the obtained result.
