Abstract:The initial and periodic boundary conditions of the fractional long-short wave equations were studied. The existence and uniqueness of the global smooth solution for the fractional long-short wave equations were proved by using uniform priori estimates and Galerkin method.

Abstract:Abstract A time-fractional initial-boundary value problem of wave type is considered, where the spatial domain is ( 0 , 1 ) d (0,1)^{d} for some d ∈ { 1 , 2 , 3 } d\in\{1,2,3\} . Regularity of the solution u is discussed in detail. Typical solutions have a weak singularity at the initial time t = 0 t=0 : while u and u t u_{t} are continuous at t = 0 t=0 , the second-order derivative u t ⁢ t u_{tt} blows up at t = 0 t=0 . To solve the problem numerically, a finite difference scheme is used on a mesh that is graded in time and uniform in space with the same mesh size h in each coordinate direction. This scheme is generated through order reduction: one rewrites the differential equation as a system of two equations using the new variable v := u t v:=u_{t} ; then one uses a modified L1 scheme of Crank–Nicolson type for the driving equation. A fast variant of this finite difference scheme is also considered, using a sum-of-exponentials (SOE) approximation for the kernel function in the Caputo derivative. The stability and convergence of both difference schemes are analysed in detail. At each time level, the system of linear equations generated by the difference schemes is solved by a fast Poisson solver, thereby taking advantage of the fast difference scheme. Finally, numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of both numerical methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider initial-boundary value problems for two-component nonlinear systems of time-fractional diffusion equations with the homogeneous Neumann boundary condition and non-negative initial values. The main results are the existence of solutions global in time and the blow-up. Our approach involves the truncation of the nonlinear terms, which enables us to handle all local Lipschitz continuous nonlinear terms, provided their sum is less than or equal to zero. By employing a comparison principle for the corresponding linear system, we establish also the non-negativity of the nonlinear system.

Abstract:This paper deals with a boundary value problem of a fractional differential equation with the nonlinear term dependent on a fractional derivative of lower order on the semi-infinite interval. An appropriate compactness criterion is established, such that we can use Schauder's fixed point theorem on an unbounded domain to obtain the existence result for solutions. Moreover, a suitable choice of a Banach space allows the solutions to be unbounded. An example illustrating our main result is also given.

Abstract:An explicit method for solving time fractional wave equations with various nonlinearity is proposed using techniques of Laplace transform and wavelet approximation of functions and their integrals. To construct this method, a generalized Coiflet with N vanishing moments is adopted as the basis function, where N can be any positive even number. As has been shown, convergence order of these approximations can be N. The original fractional wave equation is transformed into a time Volterra-type integro-differential equation associated with a smooth time kernel and spatial derivatives of unknown function by using the technique of Laplace transform. Then, an explicit solution procedure based on the collocation method and the proposed algorithm on integral approximation is established to solve the transformed nonlinear integro-differential equation. Eventually the nonlinear fractional wave equation can be readily and accurately solved. As examples, this method is applied to solve several fractional wave equations with various nonlinearities. Results show that the proposed method can successfully avoid difficulties in the treatment of singularity associated with fractional derivatives. Compared with other existing methods, this method not only has the advantage of high-order accuracy, but it also does not even need to solve the nonlinear spatial system after time discretization to obtain the numerical solution, which significantly reduces the storage and computation cost.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the global solvability for the Boussinesq system with fractional Laplacian $(-\Delta)^{\alpha}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ for $n\geq3$. It proves the existence of a small positive number $\varepsilon=\varepsilon(n,\alpha)$ such that for each $0<T<\infty$, if $\frac{1}{2}<\alpha<\frac{2+n}{4}$ and $\|u_{0}\|_{\dot{H}^{s_{0}}}+T^{1/2}\|\theta_{0}\|_{\dot{H}^{s_{0}-\alpha}}\leq \varepsilon$, then the fractional Boussinesq system has a unique strong solution on the bounded interval $[0,T]$. If $\frac{1}{2}<\alpha<\frac{2+n}{6}$ and $\|u_{0}\|_{\dot{H}^{s_{0}}}+\|\theta_{0}\|_{\dot{H}^{s_{0}-2\alpha}}\leq \varepsilon$, then the fractional Boussinesq system has a unique strong solution on the whole interval $[0,\infty)$.

Abstract:Fractional partial differential equations have been applied to many problems in physics, finance, and engineering. Numerical methods and error estimates of these equations are currently a very active area of research. In this paper we consider a fractional diffusion-wave equation with damping. We derive the analytical solution for the equation using the method of separation of variables. An implicit difference approximation is constructed. Stability and convergence are proved by the energy method. Finally, two numerical examples are presented to show the effectiveness of this approximation.

Abstract:Some efficient numerical schemes are proposed to solve one-dimensional and two-dimensional multi-term time fractional diffusion-wave equation, by combining the compact difference approach for the spatial discretisation and an L1 approximation for the multi-term time Caputo fractional derivatives. The unconditional stability and global convergence of these schemes are proved rigorously, and several applications testify to their efficiency and confirm the orders of convergence.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate a class of nonautonomous fractional diffusion equations (NFDEs). Firstly, under the condition of weighted Hölder continuity, the existence and two estimates of classical solutions are obtained by virtue of the properties of the probability density function and the evolution operator family. Secondly, it focuses on the continuity and an estimate of classical solutions in the sense of fractional power norm. The results generalize some existing results on classical solutions and provide theoretical support for the application of NFDE.
