Abstract:The three-spud model of a 200 m3 grab dredger based on spud-soil interaction is built.The dynamic response of spuds in one grab-dredging cycle under combined loads in extreme conditions is studied by numerical simulation method,and the horizontal displacement response of main hull,the bearing capacity variation of each spud shoe,and the stress characteristics soil around the spud,etc.are considered.It provides some references for engineering application.

Abstract:The framework of deep sea manned submersible is designed as a space frame structure for installing manned pressure hull,batteries,drop ballasts,and variable ballast sphere,high pressure air sphere,buoyancy materials and so on.It is also the main load-carrying structure when the manned submersible is launched into or recovered from inclement sea state using an A-frame crane which is mounted on a support ship,or fixed on board.Therefore,the design of the framewok should fully consider the space for installing,removing or maintaining equipments of the manned submersible,and the designed framework should possess high strength and light weight.This paper mainly discribes the selection of materials,determinations of the design condition and design load and allowable stress,determinations of structural configuration,connecting type of members,optimization design of nodal points,as well as analysis method of structural strength for the deep sea manned submersible.Finaly,this paper also gives the strength calculation results of the framework.All these provide the references for further design and research on framework of new deep sea manned submersible in future.

Abstract:The J-lay method is a comparatively feasible way to install offshore pipelines with larger diameter and heavier submerged weight in deepwater and ultra-deepwater area. In this paper, a full finite element model (FEM) for deepwater J-lay systems was established using the software OrcaFlex to study the actual dynamic pipelay effects, which are mainly caused by hydrodynamic forces and pipelay vessel motions. Meanwhile, a nonlinear hysteretic soil model was employed to characterise the vertical pipe-seabed interactions, and the modified Coulomb friction model was applied to simulate the lateral pipe-seabed interactions. An explanatory example about a steel pipeline being installed to the seabed of 1500 m water depth in the LW3-1 gas field of South China Sea was introduced to carry out the numerical analysis. The dynamic behaviour of the J-lay pipeline in terms of top effective tension, bending moment, seabed resistance and pipeline embedment in the touchdown zone (TDZ) was quantitatively evaluated. The comparisons between static and dynamic results of J-lay pipelines and between J-lay and S-lay dynamic results with identical pipelay conditions except for the departure points were carried out, respectively, in which the more noticeable dynamic effects are observed for deepwater J-lay pipelines.

Abstract:The ship is a 4 000 m3/h cutter suction dredger, the hoisting system consists of gantry mounting structure and bridge structure. Selecting two representative conditions and using MSC/Patran/Nastran finite element analysis software, the paper makes a model of hoisting system and makes structural strength analysis. It gives a check on displacement and stress near key way of gantry mounting structure and bridge structure, and provides references for the structure safety and economy of the same type dredger hoisting system.

Abstract:The research object of this study is an ultra-large self-propelled grab dredger.A hydrodynamic model of the ship is established for calculation.The research on dynamic response of ship and mooring lines in various operation stages and different environmental load is performed It will be a basis for the safe operation of the ship.The results show that the ship is most dangerous during the turning and discharging operations of grab bucket.The operations have great influence on rolling,swaying motion and the tension of mooring lines.To ensure the safety of ship operation,the ship should try to be kept in head waves during actual operation.

Abstract:This study demonstrates how to impose wave load on the ship from the view of long-term forecast and to perform whole ship's FEM calculation for a 200m3 grab dredger.Influence of wave spreading functions was discussed.In contrast to the wave load working in the North Atlantic Ocean,the wave load in the South China Sea was calculated so as to put forward some suggestions on ships working in this maritime space.Both global and local structural stresses are calculated with FEM,as well as structural optimization was achieved.This thesis will provide reference for the development of dredger working in the South China Sea.

Abstract:Trenching and embedment are important measures to increase the subsea pipeline’s on-bottom stability and the ways to protect pipeline. To ensure safety during the trenching operation, the mooring analysis of the engineering ship is necessary before construction. The typical mooring analysis of trencher engineering ship is analyzed using MOSES software, and the basic calculate method is stated. Furthermore, the influences of variations of wave parameters, mooring parameters and ship radius of inertia to mooring system are analyzed. The influence curves are got, and the laws are summarized, which have guiding significance for similar engineering ships.

Abstract:To clarify the jacking height of backhoe dredger,the environment loads on the backhoe dredger under different environment conditions are calculated firstly.Then the forces suffered by spuds are calculated under four typical operating conditions by established mechanical model.Taking the leg stress being zero as the critical pulling-up state,the minimum jacking heights under different operating conditions,wave heights,wave directions and operating directions using different buckets are computed.The safe jacking heights under different wave heights are gained.The influencing laws between minimum jacking height and wave and operating direction are summarized.The established jacking forecasting method provides reference for the design and operation of backhoe dredger's positioning spuds.

Abstract:The suction anchor has been widely used in taut or semi-taut mooring systems as an effective and economical solution to anchoring problems. To ensure high reliability, the profile of the mooring cable connecting the fairlead and the pad-eye must be accurately designed. However, previous studies have rarely considered the effect of cable slippage in soil on the mooring behavior, or embedded cables have been studied with an assumed tension at the seabed. This paper, by treating the cable suspended in water and the cable embedded in soil as a single cable, presents a two-dimensional (2D) static model and a three-dimensional (3D) quasi-static model for the cable during pretensioning and in service, respectively. The two models take into account the comprehensive effects of ocean currents, soil resistance and cable elasticity, all of which are critical for the design of a mooring system. Three examples are analyzed using the models and some useful conclusions are drawn.

Abstract:For dredging rock work characteristics of cutter suction dredger,based on cutter geometry model,kinematic model and dynamic model,a numerical simulation model for cutter load as well as its load volatility is set up.Then,the reliability of the results is verified through comparing numerical simulation cutting power with actual cutting power.By use of Matlab/VB hybrid programming,the simulation system for the force and the load volatility is developed.The results can provide references for research and development of the rock dredging key equipments.

Abstract:A new deep draft multi-spars platform concept is brought out and introduced as well,as the interactive design method and design process of the platform are described.1st order wave exciting force and hydrodynamic information for DDMS are obtained by using 3D boundary element method base diffraction and radiation theories.The response amplitude operators RAO are calculated in frequency domain.The 2nd order slow are forces were captured through the Newman’s approximation and the mean wave forces.The motions of time history for DDMS are simulated in time domain.The calculated results reveal the rationality of the design and indicate the favorable motion performance for DDMS.

Abstract:The nonlinear structure dynamic analysis code LS-DYNA is utilized to analyze the soil-spudcan interaction in three dimensions in order to predict the fixity of the spudcan sitting on the seabed. The present paper describes a practical procedure to predict the fixity of spudcan footing of jack-up rigs and summarizes some important issues which may affect the accuracy of simulation results of the soil-structure interaction, such as sand properties, the extent of soil domain and the subsidence of sand under gravitation.In addition, it is demonstrated that how to model and use the seabed sand properties in numerical models is crucial on the accuracy of the simulation results. The simulation results of soil-spudcan interactions and knowledge-sharing in relevant simulations will benefit to the design of jack-up units as well as the site specific assessment of mobile jack-up units.

Abstract:In order to improve the efficiency of dredging, reduce the cost of dredging and ensure the safety of operation, this paper designs an underwater building surface dredging robot (hereinafter referred to as "underwater dredging robot"), which mainly includes the following aspects. The structure of underwater dredging robot is planned and divided into dredging system, walking system, driving system and support system. According to the actual work situation and the characteristics of each system, the scheme selection and structure design are carried out, and the overall layout scheme is obtained. The materials of the support system are selected and its force under different working conditions is analyzed. Through finite element analysis and modal analysis, it is verified that its reliability meets the requirements and there is no resonance phenomenon in the work.
