Analysis of laboratory external quality control of iodine deficiency disorders in Inner Mongolia in 1999 to 2012

Abstract:Objective To analyze the examination results of external quality assessment (EQA) at all levels of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) laboratories in Inner Mongolia and the network operation to further standardize and improve the laboratory examinations ,thus to provide reliable laboratory quality assurance for surveillance and control of iodine deficiency disorders .Methods The examination results of EQA at all levels of IDD laboratories in Inner Mongolia were statistically analyzed in accordance with the National Reference Laboratory of IDD (1999-2012) .Results In the past 14 years ,the rates of examination result of urinary iodine and iodized salt were 100%at the provincial level .At the municipal level ,the rates of examination result of urinary iodine were 100% in 10 years and the rates of the examination result of iodized salt were 100% in 7 years .In the other years ,the rates were disqualified .At the county level ,the rates of the examination result of iodized salt were 100% in 5 years .Conclu‐sions The testing ability and quality have been promoted in most iodine deficiency disorders laboratories at all lev‐els ,but the results in some laboratories are not satisfactory .Therefore ,the laboratory equipment and personal tes‐ting ability still need to be improved .
