Abstract:This paper proved that the necessary conditions for the existence of a cyclically resolvable cyclic Kirkman triple systems(υ≡3(mod 6)) and v/3 is not a prime as q≡5(mod 6)are also sufficient if υ≤300,with three undecided cases where υ =207,243 or 261.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, existence and construction of nearly Kirkman systems are discussed. In the case k = 4, it is proved that there exists a nearly Kirkman system N K S (2, 4; v ) if and only if v ≡ 0(mod 12) and v ≥ 24, with at most 16 possible exceptions.

Abstract:A Steiner quadruple system of order with resolvable derived designs (every derived Steiner triple system of order v at a point is resolvable), abbreviated as RDSQS , has been used to construct a large set of Kirkman triple systems of order 3 v . In this paper, an RDSQS is reduced to an overlarge set of Kirkman triple systems of order v with an additional property (OLKTS ), which plays the same role in constructing an LKTS(3 v ) as an RDSQS . Some recursive constructions of OLKTS s are also established. As a result, some infinite classes of OLKTS s and LKTSs are obtained.

Abstract:Let SSR(v, 3) denote the set of all integer b* such that there exists a RTS(v, 3) with b* distinct triples. In this paper, we determine the set SSR(v, 3) for v ≡ 3 (mod 6) and v ≥ 3 with only five undecided cases. We establish that SSR(v, 3) = P(v, 3) for v ≡ 3 (mod 6), v ≥ 21 and v ≠ 33, 39 where P(v, 3) = {mv, mv + 4, mv + 6, mv + 7, …, 3mv} and mv, = v(v − 1)/6. As a by‐product, we remove the last two undecided cases for the intersection numbers of Kirkman triple system of order 27, this improves the known result provided in [ 2 ]. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract:The existence of large sets of Kirkman triple systems (LKTSs) is one of the best-known open problems in combinatorial design theory. Steiner quadruple systems with resolvable derived designs (RDSQSs) play an important role in the recursive constructions of LKTSs. In this paper, we introduce a special combinatorial structure RDSQS*(v) and use it to present a construction for RDSQS(4v). As a consequence, some new infinite families of LKTSs are given.

Abstract:Even though Peltesohn proved that a cyclic (v,3,1)-design exists if and only if $v\equiv 1,3\pmod{6}$ as early as 1939, the problem of determining the spectrum of cyclic (v,k,1)-designs with k>3 is far from being settled, even for k=4. This paper shows that a cyclic (v,4,1)-design exists if and only if $v\equiv 1,4\pmod{12}$ and $v\not\in\{16,25,28\}$.

Abstract:Two resolutions of the same 3-design are said to be orthogonal when each parallel class of one resolution has at most one block in common with each parallel class of the other resolution. If a Steiner quadruple system has two mutually orthogonal resolutions, the design is called doubly resolvable and denoted by DRSQS. In this paper, we define almost doubly resolvable candelabra quadruple system and then to get a recursive construction of DRSQS, i.e., for , if there is a DRSQS( n ), then there exists a DRSQS and a DRSQS .

Z* p | n ? a ? b ? ab (mod p)} are given, where Z* p denote a reduced residue system modulo p. We also establish congruences about sum and product of the quadratic residues in S+ or in S? modulo p. Abstract:We propose a method for generating large sets of a given Steiner triple system of order V,or of a given Kirkman triple system of order V,and obtain a sufficient condition for the existence of large sets in terms of cyclic numbers.This paper gives two theorems: Theorem1: A sufficient condition for the existence of large sets of Steiner triple systems S(V) and Kirkman triple systems K(V) is the existence of a cyclic number with totally different distances.Theorem2: There exist large sets for non-decomposable Kirkman triple systems and there exists no large set for a decomposable one.

Abstract:We prove that perturbing the periodic annulus of the reversible quadratic polynomial differential system $\dot x=y+ax^2$ , $\dot y=-x$ with a ≠ 0 inside the class of all quadratic polynomial differential systems we can obtain at most two limit cycles, including their multiplicities. Since the first integral of the unperturbed system contains an exponential function, the traditional methods cannot be applied, except in Figuerasa, Tucker and Villadelprat (2013, J. Diff. Equ. , 254 , 3647–3663) a computer-assisted method was used. In this paper, we provide a method for studying the problem. This is also the first purely mathematical proof of the conjecture formulated by Dumortier and Roussarie (2009, Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst. , 2 , 723–781) for q ⩽ 2. The method may be used in other problems.

Abstract:Zhao (2003a) first established a congruence for any odd prime p>3, S(1,1,1;p)≡−2Bp−3 (mod p), which holds when p=3 evidently. In this paper, we consider finite triple harmonic sum S(α,β,γ,p) (mod p) is considered for all positive integers α,β,γ. We refer to w=α+β+γ as the weight of the sum, and show that if w is even, S(α,β,γ,p)≡0 (mod p) for p≥w+3; if w is odd S(α,γ,γ,p)≡rBp−w (mod p) for p≥w, here r is an explicit rational number independent of p. A congruence of Catalan number is obtained as a special case.

Abstract:Define the sums of triple reciprocals Zn=∑i+j+k=n1/ijk,i,j,k≥1 . Zhao discovered the following curious congruence for any odd prime p , Zp≡−2Bp−3mod p. Xia and Cai extended the above congruence to modulo p2,Zp≡12Bp−3/p−3−3B2p−4/p−2mod p2, where p>5 is a prime. In this paper, we consider the congruences about Zp−1+N/N (where x is the integral part of x , N=1,2,3,4,6 ) modulo p2 . When N=1 , the results we obtain are the results of Zhao and Xia and Cai.
