Abstract:Flow-induced acoustic resonance is a phenomenon caused by the interaction of flow and acoustic fields in special structure . Acoustic resonance characteristic experiments were carried out on square closed side branch . The influences of the velocity in main pipe and the length of the side branch on acoustic resonance were studied . The range of occurrence and characteristics of pressure pulsation were analyzed .Three lengths of side branches (L/d= 5 ,6 and 7) were experimentally studied and the Reynolds number in the experiment was 2.74 × 104-2.429 × 105 while the Mach number was 0.025-0.218 .The results show that the resonance frequency shows a lock-in phenomenon with the increase of velocity . As the length of the side branch increasing ,the amplitude of the acoustic pressure and the resonance frequency decrease . In the considered structure ,the acoustic resonance occurs w hen Strouhal number is 0.3-0.6 and 0.7-1.0 .
