Abstract:Development of natural products relies heavily on advanced separation technologies for extraction from abundant biomass raw material sources. A novel approach for isolating natural products and their precursors is the use of the poly(ionic liquid). Poly(ionic liquid) extractants provide the polarity, designability and selectivity of ionic liquids while being less toxic and more easily recoverable. In this review, synthetic methods of polycations, polyanions and polyzwitterions are summarized. The latest progress in the use of poly(ionic liquid)-mediated solid phase extraction, solid phase microextraction, molecular imprinted solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction and capillary electrophoresis technologies to separate natural products such as flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols and proteins are reviewed. This will include a description of the proposed separation mechanism and the features of this approach including the reported efficiencies, stability, and recoverability of poly(ionic liquid)s. The specific focus will be on the use of smart polymeric materials for separation of natural products. Moreover, the designing and synthetic tailoring of new species to address current challenges and expand the applicability of poly(ionic liquid)-mediated technologies for separating natural products will be introduced.

Abstract:Ultrafiltration had wide applications in the separation, concentration, and purification of polysaccharides of the following field: Chinese herb polysaccharides extracted from Ganoderma japonicum, Rheum tanguticum, LWDH decoction, Astragalus membranceus, Ganoderma sinense, Redix ginseng; marine active polysaccharides, such as shark cartilage mocopolyaccharides, Cristaria plicata polysaccharides, Porphyra haitanensis polysaccharides, fucoidan, carrageenan; ferment polysaccharides extracted from rhizomorph (Armillariella mellea), from PS-9415 fermentation broth, from mycelia(Cordyceps sinensis); and edible plant polysaccharides extracted from tea, lentinan, flammulina velutipes, aloe, Lyceum chinensa. Ultrafiltraion had a high recovery rate, not so easy to damage the bioactivity of polysaccharides, low energy consuming, and was suitable to industrial production of polysaccharides.

Abstract:This research aims at identifying suitable resin adsorbents for efficient separation and purification of alkaloids from plant materials. The adsorption properties (equilibrium, kinetics, and column breakthrough) of four alkaloid model compounds (berberine hydrochloride, ligustrazine hydrochloride, colchicine, and matrine) on selected macroporous resins were studied. The adsorption equilibrium capacities and desorption ratios of the four model compounds on nine different macroporous resins were measured and compared. It was observed that the resins with a low polarity and high surface area offered a high adsorption capacity for all alkaloids. The pseudo-second-order adsorption rate equation fit well all the kinetic data, and the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm equations correlate well the adsorption isotherms on the four resins. Among the nine resins studied in this work, the HPD300 resin was identified as the most promising adsorbent for alkaloids separation and purification because of its excellent adsorption and desorption properties for all four alkaloid compounds. The adsorption breakthrough experiment on the HPD300 resin using a mixture solution containing all four model compounds further confirmed the effective separation of alkaloids on the HPD300 resin.

Abstract:The classification of macrofeticulaf resin and their principles of adsorption and desorption in isolation and purification of tea polyphenols were reviewed in the present paper. The application of macrofeticulaf resin to isolation and purification of tea polyphenols included preparation of decaffeinated tea polyphenols, continuous extraction and isolation of functional components from tea and purification of tea polyphenols. The aspects of food safety and organic solvent residues in application of macrofeticulaf resin were also discussed.

Abstract:This article was aimed to introduce researches on saponin purification with macroporous resin packed column chromatography both at home and abroad.Main influencing factors and mathematical modeling of chro matography process were discussed.Characteristics of macroporous resins which are recommended for saponin pu rification were summarized.Saponin purification with macroporous resin packed column chromatography is efficient in the obtaining of high purity saponin.Understanding of the mechanism of chromatography process,optimization of process parameters,and developing new chromatography process control strategy can be helpful to enhance sep aration efficiency and obtain saponins with stable quality.

Abstract:OBJECTIVEStudy the characteristics of absorption and separation of traditional Chinese medicine compound prescription using macroporous resin.METHODStudy the techniquecs and characteristics of absorption and separation of a sample by macroporous resin, which is composed of coptis root, rhubarb and common anemarrhena rhizome, containing alkaloid, anthraquinone and saponin.RESULTIt is proved by qualitative and quantitative researches studies that after absorbed and separated by optimized technics process, most prime effective components or section fractions in traditional Chinese medicine compound prescription can be reserved maintained.CONCLUSIONIf the techniquecs of separation is properly designed, the same kind of macropore resin can absorbd and separate various effective components or section in traditional Chinese medicine compound prescription which have with different chemical structures efficiently.

Abstract:Foam fractionation is a kind of technology using bubble as medium to concentrate surface active substances.Foam fractionation has the characteristics such as simple equipment,low investment,low energy consumption and environmental compatibility,and plays an important role in application of separating food components and industrialization production. Therefore,it attracts more and more attentions. This paper reviewed the principle,classification of foam fractionation; introduces its application progress in the separation of the cell, protein,enzyme,the extraction of herbal saponin,including the treatment of Aqueous Solution. Therefore,some crucial issues about the current problem and development tendency of foam fractionation were suggested.

Abstract:Traditional Chineae medicine (TCM) is often composed of a variety of natural medicines. Its composition is complex, and many of its components can not be analyzed and identified. The first step in the rational application of TCM is to successfully separate the effective components which is also a great inspiration for the development of new drugs. Among the many separation technologies of TCM, the traditional heating concentration separation technology has high energy consumption and low efficiency. As a new separation technology, membrane separation technology has the characteristics of simple operation, high efficiency, environment-friendly and so on. The separation effect of high molecular weight difference solution is better. The applications of several main membrane separation technologies such as microfiltration, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis are reviewed, the methods of restoring membrane flux after membrane fouling are discussed, and their large-scale industrial applications in the future are prospected and summarized.

Abstract:The extract and separation method for alkaloids in the natural plant were summarized.Especially,the applications based on the macroporous polymeric adsorbent for the purification of the alkaloids were reviewed systematically.The adsorbents with different structure,such as macroporous adsorption resin,gel ion-exchange resin and macroporous ion-exchange resin,should produce the different separation rules.So the summaries will bring the illumination for the structure design to the adsorbent with higher adsorption capability and selectivity.

Abstract:In this paper,the adsorption principle,physical parameters and categories of macroporous resin are described firstly.Then the application of macroporous resin to industrial wastewater treatment is introduced in detail.Macroporous adsorption resin has excellent adsorption and desorption for the treatment of aniline,hydrazinobenzene,phenol,benzoic acid,naphthalin,zinc wastewater,etc.Based on the review,the merits and influencing factors of macroporous resin for the wastewater treatment are discussed thoroughly.In conclusion,macroporous adsorption resin is a new potential adsorbent in industry.

Abstract:Adsorption and desorption characteristic of macroporous adsorption resins AB-8、NKA-9、NKA-Ⅱ、D-140、D-101、HPD-600、S-8 for pinoresinol d-gluside and geniposide in Eucommia was investigated. At the base of static adsorption, the better macroporous adsorption resins was chosen to finish the dynamic adsorption experiments. The result shows that the best resins to separate and purify pinoresinol d-gluside and geniposide were S-8. And the best technology parameters of adsorption and desorption of GP and PDG were obtained.

Abstract:In this study, the method of separation of polyphenols and pectin from apple pomace by acid-extraction were researched. The polyphenols and pectin were separation. The result shows that the macroporous resin adsorbent XDA-5 was the optimal absorbent material. The optimum conditions of adsorption and desorption were: pH2.0 or so, the volume of sample 5.0 BV (resin bed volume) and the adsorption speed 3.0 ml/min, and the volume of 60%(V/V) ethanol as eluant was 2.5 BV with desorption-speed 1.5 ml/min.

Abstract:Macroporous resin with high specific surface area was prepared by post-crosslinking reaction of polystyrene microspheres with particle size of 15μm and degree of crosslinking of 80％ using ferric chloride as catalyst.The column (4.6mm×250mm) packed by this resin was applied to the HPLC separation of scutellarin.Resolution,selectivity,column efficiency and retention time of separation of scutellarin were investigated to determine experimental conditions,such as proportion of mobile phase,flow rate of mobile phase,column temperature and sample concentration.The optimum conditions were as follows,the mobile phase was acetonitrile:0.4％ glacial acetic acid (27∶73,v∶v),the flow rate was 1.0mL/min,column temperature was 30℃,sample concentration was 300μg/mL.Under these conditions,the two components were separated completely with the resolution was 2.20 and the retention time was 7.7min.This study was helpful for large-scale preparation of scutellarin.

Abstract:Macro-porous anion exchange, coagulation and their combination were used as pretreatment for microfiltration, and their effects on organic removal and membrane fouling reduction were evaluated. The experimental results showed that resin was effective in removing organics of medium and small molecular weight (MW), especially those of medium MW of UV absorbance, but was ineffective in removing organics with large MW. Using resin alone as a pretreatment removed organics effectively but was limited in its reduction of membrane fouling. With the combination of coagulation and resin as a pretreatment for microfiltration, not only were organics removed effectively, but membrane fouling was also reduced. Analysis of membrane surface with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and combined results of behaviors of MW distribution and flux indicated that biopolymer plays a key role in membrane fouling, and coagulation could remove this part of organics. Integrated coagulation and resin pretreatment by filtration columns were suggested for use in surface water prior to membrane filtration.

Abstract:Seven types of macroreticular resin were compared in the ability of adsorbing and desorbing polyphenols of kiwifruit,the suitable adsorbent was selected,the results showed: DA201-CⅡ macroreticular resin owned optimum absorption and elution capacity,the optimum parameters of adsorption were 160 μg/mL row materials and 1 mL/min flow rate,after absorption,macroreticular resin have optimum elution property with 40% ethanol,the adsoption capacity of this macroreticular resin was 2.93 mg/g.
