Abstract:NO formation from coal combustion on fixed-bed reactor was researched experimentally and the results showed that NO generation and its rate decreased with the temperature in 1000 similar to 1200 degrees C in the combustion processes of bituminous and low volatile coals. Conversion rate (CR) of fuel-N to NO decreased mainly due to the reduction of CR of char-N. CR of char-N was affected by the temperature obviously but CR of volatile-N was affected less. The acceleration of CR of fuel-N was researched and the turning point of acceleration, P-t, was gained. Higher temperature resulted in P-t of low volatile coal moved forward in the range of 1000-1200 degrees C. But P-t of bituminous was little affected by temperature. In addition, a coefficient V (N/C), was defined by the release rate of fuel-N and fuel-C during coal combustion. In volatile combustion stage, fuel-N of low volatile coal released and reacted faster than fuel-C, and V (N/C) increased with temperature in 1000-1200 degrees C. But the things were contrary in the char combustion case. V (N/C) of low volatile coal decreased with higher temperature n 1000-1200 degrees C.
