Abstract:Single crystal superalloys are prone to severe plastic deformation during the precision finishing process, resulting in the recrystallization generated on the surface layer and thus weakening the high-temperature service performance. In view of the characteristics of small cutting depth and high processing consistency of stacking abrasive belt, a new-type structural hollow-sphere abrasive belt is expected to be employed in the precision machining of single crystal superalloy. Scratching tests were performed on DD6 with the specially structured hollow-sphere grain, aiming to reveal the effects of progressive abrasive wear on the recrystallization behavior of the DD6 surface. The three-dimensional fractal dimension was introduced to evaluate the wear morphology of hollow-sphere grain, and the novel evaluating indicators of recrystallization depth and area were defined to represent the recrystallization degree of DD6 under unit self-sharpness conditions. The experiment results indicated that the normal force and the wear of hollow-sphere grain were the critical factors for recrystallization. The recrystallization damage is positively correlated with the normal force, but the increase of the normal force will aggravate the wear of the abrasive grain. The degree of recrystallization damage of DD6 scratched by hollow-sphere abrasive grains at different wear stages is quite different. Moreover, when the wear morphology of the hollow-sphere grain was hemispherical, the recrystallization depth and area were controlled within 7.23 μm and 2.16 μm2 for the 20 N normal force.
