Abstract:An instability with respect to the phase transformations in h.c.p.-Ti alloys with isomorphous (Mo, To, Nb) and eutectoid (Fe, Cr) beta-stabilizing elements is studied by analysis of the strain-induced and <<electrochemical>>, interatomic interactions of substitutional impurity atoms. For the description of the impurity subsystem distribution, the method of static concentration waver is used. Dependencies of the <<mixing>>-energies Fourier-components' matrix eigenvalues along 12 main directions within the Brillouin zone are obtained. Analysis of there dependencies had shown that considered alloys ore unstable, and on atomic ordering with formation of antiphase isostructure domains is expected; besides, bulk modulations in substitutional-atoms' distribution for there systems must occur within the basal plane, but along the corresponding directions. If is found that strain-induced contribution into the impurity-impurity interaction energy inside alpha-Ti is essential and is about similar to 0,1-0,5 eV/atom in magnitude. If only strain-induced interaction would be taken into account (that could be acceptable for the latest stager of decomposition), the h.c.p. solution should be unstable too, but the character of the phase transformations should be distinct: isomorphous systems would be having a trend to the spinodal decomposition, and eutectoid systems to the layered atomic ordering along the hexagonal axis.
