MNC-SMEs alliance and modular synergic innovation on global dynamic modular innovation network

Abstract:In the era of globalization and industrial-vertical disintegration, the speed of technology developing and knowledge creating are accelerating and the locations of them are getting more dispersive. Corporations focus their business more closely on special, core operation than ever. Multi-national Companies(MNCs) are up against, more diversified global market and more drastic competition which brings the requirement of more excellent strategy and effective -operation mechanism such as Agile Manufacturing(AM) and Concurrent Engineering(CE). To fit these environmental and strategic challenges, it is necessary for MNCs to utillize more dispersive innovation resources and promote their global innovation and manufacturing networks through making strategic alliances and dynamic alliances with Small and Medium-size Enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. The new global manufacturing'and innovation systems are built on the combinative platform of global dynamic product networks and regional specialized innovation clusters which have evolved into a tidal current in some new industrialization countries and regions such, as South Korea and some East-China's provinces. This innovation platform is defined as Global Dynamic Modular Innovation Network (GDMIN) in this paper. The study of modular innovation strategy which,. based on GDMIN, focuses on the dispersive innovation of dissolvable medial production and process, and the integration of modular business units across national borders. This paper emphasize's that., GDMIN is vital for MNCs and local SMEs' clusters to build the global agile advantages together, and centralizes study on outlining the conceptual frameworks of GDMIN. Furthermore, we study the structure of GDMIN and the functions about the elements of GDMIN.
