Abstract:Rationally engineering on nanostructure of electromagnetic absorbers provides massive potential for eliminating the pollution caused by electromagnetic radiation. In this work, a series of core-shell Co@C nanotubes were produced via facile pyrolysis of cobalt carbonate hydroxide hydrate/dopamine precursor. Thanks to the well introduction of core-shell and nanotube structure, Co@C composite shows more superior microwave absorption than pristine Co nanoparticles. The unique microstructure provides abundant heterostructures and conductive paths to induce interfacial polarization and conductive loss for boosting dielectric loss. Through regulating the graphitization layer of C shell, the dielectric property could be further enhanced. Coupled with the favorable magnetic loss from the embedded Co nanoparticles, the products exhibit an optimal absorption intensity of -48 dB under low filler content of 30%. And effective absorption frequency bandwidth is up to 5.2 GHz at small thickness of 1.8 mm. Such excellent achievements demonstrate that the core-shell Co@C nanotube composites can be applied as a promising candidate for lightweight and thin electromagnetic absorption.
Outstanding Comprehensive Performance Versus Facile Synthesis: Constructing Core and Shell-Interchangeable Nanocomposites As Microwave Absorber.

Abstract:It is still a great challenge to develop high-performance microwave absorption materials (MAMs). Herein, we first proved the excellent synergistic effect of Fe3O4@MoS2 heterostructure based on the theoretical calculations. To effectively utilize the synergistic effect and morphology, core and shell-interchangeable Fe3O4@MoS2 and MoS2@Fe3O4 nanocomposites (NCs) were elaborately constructed. By controlling the hydrothermal temperature, different MoS2 morphologies and contents of Fe3O4@MoS2 NCs were produced, which simultaneously displayed the optimal reflection loss (RL) values (similar to-50 dB), broad absorption bandwidth (>= 5.0 GHz) and high chemical stabilities. With the synthesis temperature increasing from 170 degrees C to 200 degrees C, their outstanding microwave absorption (MA) capabilities moved towards the high frequency region and thin matching thickness. Impressively, the Fe3O4@MoS2 obtained at 200 degrees C presented a minimum RL value of -50.75 dB with the thickness of 2.90 mm and an absorption bandwidth of 5.0 GHz with the thickness of 1.71 mm, and the excellent MA capabilities (RL values <-30 dB) with the low matching thicknesses (<2 mm) could be observed in the frequency range of X and Ku bands. Moreover, compared to the reverse structureMoS(2)@Fe3O4, the core@shell structure Fe3O4@MoS(2 )exhibited evidently superior MA comprehensive properties in terms of low optimal RL value, broad absorption bandwidth and high chemical stability, which could be ascribed to the improved impedance matching and microwave attenuation characteristics. Generally, the proposed flower-like core@shell structure Fe3O4@MoS2 NCs presented very extraordinary MA comprehensive properties, which were very attractive candidates for high-performance MAMs. (C) 2020 Elsevier Inc. Abstract:An efficient scheme was designed to selectively synthesize different categories of core/shell structured magnetic nanoparticles/carbon-based nanohybrids such as Fe3O4/C and Fe/helical carbon nanotubes (HCNTs) through the decomposition of acetylene directly over Fe2O3 nanotubes by controlling the pyrolysis temperature. The measured electromagnetic parameters indicated that the Fe/HCNT nanohybrids exhibited enhanced microwave absorption properties, which may be related to their special structures. The optimum reflection loss (RL) could reach -47.1 dB at 17.39 GHz with a matching thickness of 1.39 mm. The absorption bandwidth with the RL values below -20 dB was up to 11.59 GHz. Moreover, based on the obtained results, the possible enhanced EM absorption mechanisms were also discussed in detail. The results show excellent microwave absorption materials that are lightweight, have strong absorption and a wide absorption frequency band may be realized in these nanohybrids. Facile synthesis of Fe/Fe3C-C core-shell nanoparticles as a high-efficiency microwave absorber

Abstract:The combination of ferrite and carbon materials with core-shell nanostructures has attracted tremendous interest in microwave absorption field. Herein, Fe/Fe3C-C core-shell nanoparticles with diameters of 10–70 nm were synthesized by one-step metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. The nanocores of the nanoparticles can be tailored from Fe3C, to Fe3C/Fe, and then Fe by simply changing the reaction temperature. The Fe/Fe3C-C core-shell nanoparticles exhibited an optimal reflection loss (RL) value of −58.5 dB and effective absorption bandwidth (frequency range for RL <  − 10 dB) of 6.2 GHz at a low thickness of 2.0 mm. The microwave absorption performances of the as-synthesized Fe/Fe3C-C core-shell composites could be easily tuned by the phase composition of nanocores. The achieved results demonstrated that the as-synthesized Fe/Fe3C-C core-shell nanoparticles have considerable potential as an effective microwave absorber with tunable absorption performance.

Abstract:Constructing magnetic/dielectric composites with core-shell structure is an effective strategy for the development of high-efficiency microwave absorbers owing to the synergistic effect of multiple attenuation mechanisms. In this work, FeCo2O4 nanoparticles of 8 nm prepared by the nitrate decomposition method were used as the precursor, and the core-shell structured Co7Fe3@C nanocapsules with an average particle size of only 30 nm were fabricated through subsequent carbonization-reduction process. The Co7Fe3@C nanocapsules exhibit high-efficient microwave absorption performance. At an ultra-thin thickness of 1.6 mm, the minimum reflection loss (RL) value reaches up to -117.4 dB at 11.9 GHz. Notably, at the same thickness, the effective absorption bandwidth (RL ≤ -10 dB) is as wide as 9.2 GHz (8.8-18 GHz), covering almost the whole X and Ku bands. Moreover, the microwave absorption mechanism is revealed in detail through in-depth analysis of electromagnetic parameters. The outstanding microwave absorption capability is ascribed to the synergetic effect of strong magnetic loss of Co7Fe3 alloy cores and strong dielectric loss of amorphous carbon shells, as well as the superior impedance matching. It is believed that the core-shell structured Co7Fe3@C nanocapsules should be promising as high-efficiency microwave absorbers with thin thickness, strong absorption strength and broad absorption bandwidth.

Abstract:Nowadays, constructing electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing materials with high absorption strength and wide response frequency is an urgent demand and also a challenge. In this work, the bimetallic organic precursors of cobalt/iron nitrilotriacetic acid chelate nanowires (Co/Fe-NTAC) were prepared by one-step hydrothermal self-polymerization strategy. Then, the Co x Fe y @C nanocomposite fibers with different Co/Fe atomic ratios were synthesized by directly calcining the Co/Fe-NTAC precursors. Notably, when the atomic ratio of Co/Fe is 1:1, the sample exhibits high-efficient microwave absorption performance with the minimum reflection loss (RL) of −117.8 dB, whose effective absorption bandwidth (EAB, RL ≤ −10 dB) reaches up to 12.6 GHz (5.4–18 GHz) at the same thickness. The outstanding EMW attenuation properties are attributed to the strong magnetic loss, multiple heterogeneous interface polarizations, synergistic effects between magnetic cores and dielectric shells, as well as optimal impedance matching. Especially, the heterointerfaces polarization behavior and ferromagnetic coupling effect were verified by High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). The Radar Cross-Sectional (RCS) values of the optimized sample are all lower than −10 dBm 2 in the range of −60° < θ < 60°, which can achieve almost full-angle coverage in the practical environment. This work provides inspiration and strategy for the facile construction of high-intensity and ultra-wideband EMW absorbers.

Abstract:Magnetic core-shell structural mesoporous carbon materials have an extensive application prospect in microwave absorption because of their comprehensive merits of magnetic function and distinctive mesoporous structure. Herein, magnetic core-shell structural carbon N-doped carbon (CoNi/) nanofibers are successfully fabricated by combining homogeneous coating of mesoporous polydopamine, surface deposition of CoNi-bimetal metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and in-situ growth of CNTs and CoNi nanoparticles. The resultant CoNi/ nanofibers possess a well-defined hierarchical structure consisting of CNTs core and mesoporous carbon shell distributed with short CNTs and CoNi nanoparticles, high surface area (∼316 m 2 g −1 ), high nitrogen content (∼5.5 wt%), and large pore size (∼10 nm). As expected, the rational design of multifunctional components and hierarchical structure endows CoNi/ composites with excellent microwave absorption performance. Particularly, the minimum reflection loss can reach −52.1 dB at 13.4 GHz with only 1.7 mm thickness and the corresponding effective absorption bandwidth is up to 5.2 GHz (12.8–18.0 GHz), outperforming most reported microwave absorbing materials. The microwave absorption mechanism of this material has been deeply investigated and systematically clarified. This work provides meaningful reference for the design and fabrication of functional core-shell microwave absorbers with distinctive mesoporous structure.

Abstract:In order to obtain the excellent comprehensive properties of microwave absorbers (MAs), core@shell structured Co0.6Fe2.4O4@MoS2 nanocomposites were elaborately constructed and synthesized by a facile two-step hydrothermal method. Due to the independence of the two-step processes, the method could be applied to produce different categories of MoS2 based nanocomposites. The obtained results demonstrated that the as-prepared Co0.6Fe2.4O4@MoS2 nanocomposites exhibited superior electromagnetic wave absorption performances with very low minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value and broad absorption bandwidth at thin matching thicknesses. Impressively, the optimal RLmin value reached -79.9 dB at 11.2 GHz with a thickness of 2.73 mm, and an effective bandwidth of 5.96 GHz was observed with thicknesses of 2.34 and 2.98 mm. Taking into account their the low cost of production, high stability and controllability, the obtained results demonstrated that the Co0.6Fe2.4O4@MoS2 nanocomposites achieved in this study are very attractive candidates for new types of high performance MAs. Moreover, we believe that constructing core@shell structured MoS2-based nanocomposites is a reliable strategy to accelerate advancements of MAs.
Design and synthesis of one-dimensional magnetic composites with Co nanoparticles encapsulated in carbon nanofibers for enhanced microwave absorption

Abstract:With the increased usage of electromagnetic microwaves (EM) in wireless communication technology, the problem of electromagnetic radiation pollution has grown dramatically. This study successfully prepared novel Co/C magnetic nanocomposite fibers for EM absorption using the electrospinning and carbonization methods. The morphology, composition, magnetic properties, and EM absorption performance were extensively characterized. This material shows exceptional EM absorption performance, achieving -72.01 dB (at 2.08 mm) for minimum reflection loss (RLmin) and 5.4 GHz (at 1.68 mm) for effective absorption bandwidth (EAB). The performance surpasses not only any single precursor but also stands as the best in similar investigations. It can be attributed to the microstructure of magnetic Co nanoparticles encapsulated in carbon nanofibers and the macrostructure of cross-linked three-dimensional (3D) conductive networks. The combination of these structures resulted in excellent dielectric loss, magnetic loss, and impedance matching. This research offers new insights into the production of one-dimensional (1D) carbon-based absorbers, while also establishing a theoretical foundation for exploring the application potential of this material. These findings may contribute to the development of more efficient and practical EM absorption materials in the future.
Hierarchical engineering of Large-caliber carbon Nanotube/Mesoporous Carbon/Fe3C nanoparticle hybrid nanocomposite towards Ultra-lightweight electromagnetic microwave absorber

Abstract:The rational regulation of the magnetic-dielectric composition and microstructures of the absorber is considered an important approach to optimize both the impedance matching and the electromagnetic microwave attenuation ability. Along these lines, a novel architecture-controlled large-caliber carbon nanotube/mesoporous carbon/Fe3C nanoparticle-based hybrid nanocomposites (CNT/C/Fe3C), which were derived from the CNT/polyimide (PI) assemblies anchoring ferric oxide hydrate nanoprecipitates, are presented in this work. The proposed configurations were prepared by applying a cooperative co-assembly strategy and high-temperature pyrolysis procedure for the development of an ultra-lightweight electromagnetic microwave absorber. The employed hierarchically tubular heterogeneous architecture is composed of a highly graphited CNT supporting skeleton, polyimide assemblies-converted carbon interlayer with mesopores, and uniformly distributed magnetic Fe3C nanoparticles. This unique hierarchical structure can not only induce multiple reflection and scattering effects of the incident electromagnetic microwave but also trigger dipole/interfacial polarization, ferromagnetic resonance and eddy current loss that are beneficial for the synergistic dielectric and magnetic loss. Moreover, the large-caliber CNT and mesoporous carbon interlayer can endow the as-prepared absorber with lightweight characteristics. Hence, the proposed CNT/C-EDA/Fe3C-900 hybrid nanocomposite exhibits a minimum reflection loss (RL) of -48.4 dB at a matching thickness of 3.2 mm, and the effective absorption bandwidth (RL ≤ -10 dB) almost covers the whole X-band only with a 5 wt% filler loading. Undoubtedly, these encouraging outcomes will promote the development of hierarchical engineering techniques of novel magnetic-dielectric nanocomposite absorbers.
Synergistic impacts of Fe/Fe3C and Fe-Nx on high-efficiency microwave-absorbing properties of Fe/Fe3C@NC composites

Abstract:The construction of multi-component composites has become an attractive strategy for high-performance microwave absorption through balancing the magnetic and dielectric loss. However, the influences of different components on absorption performance are ambiguous, which has inevitably hampered the widespread applications of microwave absorbents. Herein, we rationally designed the multi-component absorbers of N-doped carbon composited with Fe/Fe3C nanoparticles, and systematically investigate the impacts of Fe/Fe3C nanoparticles and Fe-Nx moieties on the microwave-absorbing capacities. It is found that the coexisitence of Fe/Fe3C and Fe-Nx is indispensable to realize the strong microwave absorption ability by simultaneously enhancing the dielectric and magnetic loss in the frequency range of 2-18 GHz. As expected, our optimal absorber dispersed in paraffin with a filler loading of 15 wt% exhibits the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value of -49 dB and the maximum effective absorption bandwidth (BWeff) value of 4.2 GHz at a low thickness. Our work specifies the importance and influence of the coexistence between the Fe-Nx configurations and Fe/Fe3C nanoparticles in the carbon-based composites for the superior microwave absorption and inspires the future fabrication of extraordinary materials in the electromagnetic field.

Interface Engineering and Impedance Matching Strategy to Develop Core@shell Urchin-Like NiO/Ni@carbon Nanotubes Nanocomposites for Microwave Absorption

Abstract:It is well recognized that interfacial effect and/or impedance matching play a great impact on microwave absorption. Herein, we proposed a facile strategy to take full advantage of interface engineering and impedance matching for boosting microwave absorption performance (MAPs). Three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical urchin-like core@shell structured NiO/Ni@CNTs multicomponent nanocomposites (MCNCs) were elaborately constructed and produced in high efficiency through a facile continuous chemical bath deposition, thermal treatment, and catalytic chemical vapor decomposition process. By controlling the pyrolysis time, the NiO/Ni@CNTs urchin-like MCNCs with different lengths and aggregation degrees of CNTs could be selectively synthesized. The obtained results revealed that the enhanced CNT contents provided abundant interfaces and effectively aggrandized their interfacial effects, which resulted in improved polarization loss, conductivity loss, and comprehensive MAPs. Impressively, the interfaces and impedance matching in the designed NiO/Ni@CNTs urchin-like MCNCs could be optimized by regulating the pyrolysis temperature, which further improved the comprehensive MAPs. And the designed NiO/Ni@CNTs urchin-like MCNCs could simultaneously display strong absorption capabilities, broad absorption bandwidths, and thin matching thicknesses. Therefore, our findings not only provided a simple and universal approach to produce core@shell structured magnetic carbon-based urchin-like MCNCs but also presented an interface engineering and impedance matching strategy to develop the tunable, strong absorption, broadband, lightweight high-efficiency microwave absorbers. Micro-Structural Design of CoFe2O4/SWCNTs Composites for Enhanced Electromagnetic Properties

Abstract:In order to prepare microwave-absorbing materials with low density and high wave absorption performance, CoFe2O4/SWCNTs composites with well-designed necklace-like structures were successfully prepared in this paper by a simple solvothermal method. CoFe2O4/SWCNTs composites with different cobalt salt contents were synthesized by adjusting the experimental parameters. The results of the relative complex permeability and relative permittivity of the samples, which were investigated by vector network analysis in the frequency range of 2 to 18 GHz, are collected to support the study of the microwave absorption characteristics of the samples. Different microsphere densities and different cobalt salt contents have obvious differences in the electromagnetic absorption properties of the composites. When the additions of FeCl3·6H2O, Co(Ac)2·4H2O, and NH4Ac were 0.432, 0.200, and 0.400 g, respectively, the best reflection loss reached −42.07 dB, and the effective absorption frequency (RL < −10 dB) ranges from 3.2 to 18 GHz. Therefore, this is a preparation strategy of CoFe2O4/SWCNTs composites with necklace structure, which has the advantages of simple process, environmental friendliness, low cost, and high stability. The unique necklace-like structure design makes the carbon nanotubes partially exposed, which is more beneficial to achieve good impedance matching and giving the CoFe2O4/SWCNTs composite excellent electromagnetic loss capability.

Abstract:The shell on the nano-magnetic absorber can prevent oxidation, which is very important for its practical utilization. Generally, the nonmagnetic shell will decrease the integral magnetic loss and thus weaken the electromagnetic absorption. However, maintaining the original absorption properties of the magnetic core is a major challenge. Here, we designed novel and facile Co x Fe y @C composites by reducing Co x Fe 3−x O 4 @phenolic resin (x = 1, 0.5 and 0.25). High saturation magnetization value (Ms) of Co x Fe y particle, as a core, shows the interesting magnetic loss ability. Meanwhile, the carbon shell may increase the integral dielectric loss. The resulting composite shows excellent electromagnetic absorption properties. For example, at a coating thickness of 2 mm, the RL min value can reach to −23 dB with an effective frequency range of 7 GHz (11–18 GHz). The mechanisms of the improved microwave absorption properties are discussed.

Abstract:The optimized electromagnetic (EM) parameters are highly indispensable for outstanding microwave absorbers. Generally speaking, it is very necessary to suitably improve permittivity and permeability of the materials. The combination of magnetic/dielectric materials is a good choice. Herein, the irregular shaped FeNi/C composites were synthesized in N-2, atmosphere with unsatisfied EM parameters. To further optimize EM parameters and enhance microwave absorption abilities, constructing one-dimensional (ID) structure is also an excellent scheme. ID FeNi/C nanofibers were successfully obtained by electrospinning technology combined with heat treatment. Enhanced microwave absorption abilities can be fulfilled by conductive network structure, better dielectric loss, and stronger interface polarization intensity. Moreover, carbonized time toward nanofibers plays a key role in microwave absorption, which could influence complex permittivity and dielectric loss of materials. It is found that FeNi/C nanofibers with highly carbonized degree display better microwave absorbing properties. The reflection loss (RL) values less than -10 dB can be observed in 12.8-17.2 GHz (a broad bandwidth of 4.4 GHz) with an absorber thickness of only 1.8 mm. The absorber with a thickness of 2.7 mm has the minimum RL value of -24.8 dB at 9.4 GHz. In this regard, these nanofibers are very likely to be used as EM-wave absorbers in practical application. Furthermore, this work provides a useful strategy to optimize electromagnetic parameters and absorption abilities of metal/carbon absorbers. It may promote the development of 1D metal/carbon composites in microwave absorption field.

Abstract:CoFe(2)O(4) nanoparticles were fabricated by a sol-gel method and then were coated with Co(3)Fe(7)-Co by means of a simple reduction process at different temperatures under 2% H(2) with the protection of argon to generate the dielectric-core/metallic-shell structure. The optimum reflection loss (RL) calculated from permittivity and permeability of the 80 wt% CoFe(2)O(4)/Co(3)Fe(7)-Co and 20 wt% epoxy resin composites reached - 34.4 dB, which was much lower than that of unreduced CoFe(2)O(4) and epoxy resin composites, at 2.4 GHz with a matching thickness of 4.0 mm. Moreover the RL exceeding - 10 dB in the maximum frequency range of 2.2-16 GHz was achieved for a thickness of composites of 1.0-4.5 mm with 600 °C thermal reduction process. The improved microwave absorption properties are a consequence of a proper electromagnetic match and the enhanced magnetic loss besides its dielectric loss due to the existence of the core/shell structure in CoFe(2)O(4) composites. Thus, the reductive CoFe(2)O(4) nanoparticles have great potential for being a highly efficient microwave absorber.
Water-assisted and controllable synthesis of core/shell/shell structured carbon-based nanohybrids, and their magnetic and microwave absorption properties

Abstract:By controlling the pyrolysis temperature, core/shell/shell structured Fe/Fe5C2/carbon nanotube bundles (Fe/Fe5C2/CNTBs), Fe/Fe3C/helical carbon nanotubes (Fe/Fe3C/HCNTs) and Fe/Fe3C/chain-like carbon nanospheres (Fe/Fe3C/CCNSs) with high encapsulation efficiency could be selectively synthesized in large-scale by water-assisted chemical vapor deposition method. Water vapor was proved to play an important role in the growth process. Because of α-Fe nanoparticles tightly wrapped by two layers, the obtained core/shell/shell structured nanohybrids showed high stabilities and good magnetic properties. The minimum reflection loss values of the as-prepared nanohybrids reached approximately −15.0, −46.3 and −37.1 dB, respectively. The excellent microwave absorption properties of the as-prepared core/shell/shell structured nanohybrids were considered to the quarter-wavelength matching model. Moreover, the possible enhanced microwave absorption mechanism of the as-prepared Fe/Fe3C/HCNTs and Fe/Fe3C/CCNSs were discussed in details. Therefore, we proposed a simple, inexpensive and environment-benign strategy for the synthesis of core/shell/shell structured carbon-based nanohybrids, exhibiting a promising prospect as high performance microwave absorbing materials.

Abstract:Based on the synergistic modulation of electromagnetic parameters and microstructure design, the multidimensional porous magnetic carbon-based nanocomposites have become the ideal materials with efficient absorption properties. Co7Fe3/Co@CBC (CFCC) nanocomposites with strong magnetism, a three-phase composition, and a three-dimensional porous structure were synthesized by reducing Fe2+ and Co2+ using chestnut shell biomass. Biomass carbon with a higher specific surface area provides numerous active sites for Co7Fe3 nanosheets and Co nanospheres. Co7Fe3 nanosheets, Co nanoparticles, and biomass carbon are interconnected to form three-dimensional ping-pong chrysanthemum-like nanocomposites, which generate rich heterogeneous interfaces and conductive network structures. By adjusting the amount of biomass, the electromagnetic parameters can be effectively adjusted to achieve efficient microwave absorption properties. When the amount of biomass added varies within the range of 1.0 to 2.5 g, all samples exhibit a favorable effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of over 5.88 GHz. For instance, when 2.0 g of biomass is added, the CFCC-2.0 composite exhibits optimal microwave absorption properties, with a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value of -59.25 dB and an EAB of 6.34 GHz at a thickness of 2.8 mm. The simulation and modeling analysis results of radar cross section (RCS) further confirm the exceptional attenuation capability of composite materials at multiple incident angles. The exceptional microwave absorption properties and stability of EAB for the Co7Fe3/Co@CBC nanocomposite make it a promising candidate in the field of absorbing materials. This work also provides some feasible ideas for designing stable broadband wave-absorbing materials.

Abstract:It is well accepted that the microwave absorption performance of ferrite can be enhanced via the hybridization. However, it is still very challenging to design the hierarchical nanostructure of ferrite hybrids to fabricate wave absorbing composites with both the high efficiency and lightweight. Herein, we successfully realize the in-situ synthesis of nickel ferrite/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (NiFe2O4/MWCNTs) hybrids with a large-scale production by the hydrothermal method. The structural characteristics, morphology, electromagnetic and microwave absorption properties were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and vector network analyzer. The morphological study shows that NiFe2O4 nanoparticles with a small size (tens of nanometers) are coated on the MWCNTs, leading to a three-dimensional hierarchical nanostructure. The NiFe2O4/MWCNTs hybrids show satisfied microwave absorption properties. Typically, the optimized sample shows the minimum reflection loss of −19 dB at 11.3 GHz, and the bandwidth of the reflectivity below −10 dB is 2.5 GHz with a thin thickness of 1.5 mm. This result shall be due to the improved dielectric losses or interface polarization etc. Our results demonstrate a facile approach for the design of ferrite-based microwave absorber to meet the requirements of lightweight, thin-thickness and high efficiency.

Abstract:Designing one-dimensional (1D) magnetic-carbon composites microwave absorbers is a promising strategy that can meet the current demand for high-performance microwave absorption (MA) materials. In this work, hierarchical structured Fe3O4/Fe@C@MoS2 nanofibers were successfully obtained via a simple three-step method. 1D Fe3O4/Fe@C nanofibers were fabricated through electrospinning technology and in-situ polymerization followed by carbonization and reduction in H-2/N-2 atmosphere. MoS2 nanosheets grew irregularly on the surface of 1D Fe3O4/Fe@C nanofibers to form the flower-like structure. The morphology, composition and magnetism of samples were systematically investigated. Furthermore, electromagnetic characteristics and MA properties of Fe3O4/Fe@C nanofibers and Fe3O4/Fe@C@MoS2 nanofibers were compared. The minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of Fe3O4/Fe@C@MoS2 nanofibers could reach -53.79 dB at 11.12 GHz and the corresponding absorption bandwidth (RL < -10 dB) of 4.4 GHz was achieved at the absorber thickness of 2.24 mm. This work combines electrospinning technology with traditional chemical synthesis to prepare a novel 1D core-shell microwave absorber, which provides some inspiration for preparing MA material in the future.
