Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the notion of σ-symmetric amenability of Banach algebras and investigate some hereditary properties of them. We also apply our results to several abstract Segal algebras and group algebras.

Abstract:We prove a version of Koszul duality and the induced derived equivalence for Adams connected -algebras that generalizes the classical Beilinson-Ginzburg-Soergel Koszul duality. As an immediate consequence, we give a version of the Bernšte {\uı} n-Gel'fand-Gel'fand correspondence for Adams connected -algebras.We give various applications. For example, a connected graded algebra is Artin-Schelter regular if and only if its Ext-algebra $\Ext^\ast_A (k, k) $ is Frobenius. This generalizes a result of Smith in the Koszul case. If is Koszul and if both and its Koszul dual are noetherian satisfying a polynomial identity, then is Gorenstein if and only if is. The last statement implies that a certain Calabi-Yau property is preserved under Koszul duality.

Abstract:We introduce and study a new notion of amenability called symmetric pseudo-amenability. We obtain some properties of symmetrically pseudo-amenable Banach algebras and with examples, we compare this type of amenability with some other types of amenability. We also provide some special classes of symmetrically pseudo-amenable Banach algebras. Finally, Jordan and Lie derivations from a class of Banach algebras into appropriate Banach bimodules are investigated using the notion of symmetric pseudo-amenability.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of Johnson pseudo-Connes amenability for dual Banach algebras. We study the relation between this new notion with the various notions of Connes amenability like Connes amenability, approximate Connes amenability and pseudo Connes amenability. We also investigate some hereditary properties of this new notion. We prove that for a locally compact group $G$, $M(G)$ is Johnson pseudo-Connes amenable if and only if $G$ is amenable. Also we show that for every non-empty set $I$, $\mathbb{M}_I(\mathbb{C})$ under this new notion is forced to have a finite index. Finally, we provide some examples of certain dual Banach algebras and we study their Johnson pseudo-Connes amenability.

Among other things, it is proved that the measure algebra M(G) of a locally compact group G is always weakly Connes amenable. Abstract:In this paper, we study the hereditary properties of module $(\phi,\varphi)$-amenability on Banach algebras. We also define the concept of module character contractibility for Banach algebras and obtain characterizations of module character contractible Banach algebras in terms of the existence of module $(\phi,\varphi)$-diagonals. We introduce module approximately character amenable Banach algebras. Finally, for every inverse semigroup $S$ with subsemigroup $E$ of idempotents, we find necessary and sufficient conditions for the $\ell^1(S)$ and its second dual to be module approximate character amenable (as a $\ell^1(E)$-module).

Abstract:We prove the following two results. First, the isometry semigroup of a unital properly infinite nuclear C*-algebra is right amenable. Second, the unitary group of a unital simple monotracial C*-algebra whose tracial GNS representation is hyperfinite is skew-amenable in the weak topology. This answers in part a conjecture of Alekseev, Schmidt, and Thom and a question of Pestov.

Abstract:In this paper, we countinue our work in \cite{11}. We show that $L^{1}(G,w)$ is $\phi_{0}$-biprojective if and only if $G$ is compact, where $\phi_{0}$ is the augmentation character. We introduce the notions of character Johnson amenability and character Johnson contractibility for Banach algebras. We show that $\ell^{1}(S)$ is pseudo-amenable if and only if $\ell^{1}(S)$ is character Johnson-amenable, provided that $S$ is a uniformly locally finite band semigroup. We give some conditions whether $\phi$-biprojectivity ($\phi$-biflatness) of $\ell^{1}(S)$ implies the finiteness (amenability) of $S$, respectively.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the notion of σ−ideally Connes amenable for dual Banach algebras and give some hereditary properties for this new notion. We also investigate σ−ideally Connes amenability of l1(G,ω). We show that if ω is a diagonally bounded weight function on discrete group G and σ is isometrically isomorphism of l1(G,ω), then l1(G,ω) is σ−ideally Connes amenable and so it is ideally Connes amenable.

Abstract:In this paper, we give some properties of the modulation spaces $M_s^{p,1}({\mathbf R}^n)$ as commutative Banach algebras. In particular, we show the Wiener-Lévy theorem for $M^{p,1}_s({\mathbf R}^n)$, and clarify the sets of spectral synthesis for $M^{p,1}_s ({\mathbf R}^n)$ by using the ``ideal theory for Segal algebras'' developed in Reiter [30].The inclusion relationship between the modulation space $M^{p,1}_0 ({\mathbf R})$ and the Fourier Segal algebra ${\mathcal F}\hspace{-0.08cm}A_p({\mathbf R})$ is also determined.

Abstract:The paper is devoted to the investigation of Segal's entropy in semifinite von Neumann algebras. The following questions are dealt with: semicontinuity, the 'ideal-like' structure of the linear span of the set of operators with finite entropy, and topological properties of the set of operators with finite as well as infinite entropy. In our analysis, full generality is aimed at, in particular, the operators for which the entropy is considered are not assumed to belong to the underlying von Neumann algebra, instead, they are arbitrary positive elements in the space $L^1$ over the algebra.

Abstract:The notion of left-symmetric bialgebra was introduced in [C. M. Bai, Left-symmetric bialgebra and an analogue of the classical Yang–Baxter equation, Commun. Contemp. Math. 10(2) (2008) 221–260] which is equivalent to a parakähler Lie algebra which is the Lie algebra of a Lie group G with a G-invariant parakähler structure. In this paper, we study a conformal analog of left-symmetric bialgebras. The notions of left-symmetric conformal coalgebra and bialgebra are introduced. Moreover, the constructions of matched pairs of Lie conformal algebras and left-symmetric conformal algebras are presented. We show that a finite left-symmetric conformal bialgebra which is free as a ℂ[∂]-module is equivalent to a parakähler Lie conformal algebra. We also obtain a conformal analog of the S-equation (see [C. M. Bai, Left-symmetric bialgebras and an analogue of the classical Yang–Baxter equation, Commun. Contemp. Math. 10(2) (2008) 221–260]), and give a construction of the conformal symplectic double.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a Banach algebra with a right identity $u$ such that $uA$ is commutative and semisimple. In this paper, we investigate symmetric bi-derivations of $A$ and detremine their range. We also study symmetric bi-derivations of $A$ with their $k$-centralizing trace. Finally, we prove every symmetric Jordan bi-derivation of $A$ is a symmetric bi-derivation.

Abstract:In this paper we will study the projetivity of various natural modules associated to operator Segal algebras of the Fourier algebra of a locally compact group. In particular, we will focus on the question of identifying when such modules will be projective in the category of operator spaces. Projectivity often implies that the underlying group is discrete or even finite. We will also look at the projectivity for modules of $A_{cb}(G)$, the closure of $A(G)$ in the space of its completely bounded mutipliers. Here we give an evidence to show that weak amenability of $G$ plays an important role.

Abstract:The SRS is a 2GeV synchrotron light source with 14 beamlines serving approximately 34 experimental stations. Control of the major elements of the beamlines (vacuum pumps, gauges, valves and radiation stops) is the responsibility of the main SRS Control System. As part of the long-term upgrade plan for the SRS Control System a large programme of work has been undertaken to modernize beamline control. This work included: development of Linux based PC front end computers to interface to the existing CAMAC I/O system, replacement of the user interface by graphical synoptic diagrams running on Windows NT PCs, development of an ActiveX control for parameter display/control and a cache server to reduce loading on the rest of the control system. This paper describes the major components of the project; the techniques used to manage the new PCs and discusses some of the problems encountered during development.

Abstract:We show via an application of techniques from complex interpolation theory how the $L^p$-pseudofunction algebras of a locally compact group $G$ can be understood as sitting between $L^1(G)$ and $C^*(G)$. Motivated by this, we collect and review various characterizations of group amenability connected to the $p$-pseudofunction algebra of Herz and generalize these to the symmetrized setting. Along the way, we describe the Banach space dual of the symmetrized pseudofuntion algebras on $G$ associated with representations on reflexive Banach spaces.

Abstract:In this article, we study a commutative Banach algebra structure on the space , where the denotes the trace class operators on . The product of this space is given by the convolutions in quantum harmonic analysis. Towards this goal, we study the closed ideals of this space, and in particular its Gelfand theory. We additionally develop the concept of quantum Segal algebras as an analogue of Segal algebras. We prove that many of the properties of Segal algebras have transfers to quantum Segal algebras. However, it should be noted that in contrast to Segal algebras, quantum Segal algebras are not ideals of the ambient space. We also give examples of different constructions that yield quantum Segal algebras.
