Abstract:Under the condition of nonuniformly bounded growth, %nonuniform exponential dichotomy spectrum for nonautonomous linear system is proposed the relationship of the nonuniform exponential dichotomy spectrum and the other two classical spectrums (the Lyapunov spectrum and Sacker-Sell spectrum) is given, and the stability of these spectrums under small linear perturbations are summarized and presented in this paper. A main goal of this paper is to discuss the theory for the computation of these spectrums under the condition of nonuniformly bounded growth, and this extends the work of Dieci and Vleck \cite{dv-02}, which compute the Lyapunov spectrum and Sacker-Sell spectrum under the condition of bounded. Finally, an example is given to illustrate and verify the theoretical results.

Abstract:By considering the nonuniform exponential dichotomy spectrum, we introduce a global asymptotic nonuniform stability conjecture for nonautonomous differential systems, whose restriction to the autonomous case is related to the classical Markus--Yamabe Conjecture: we prove that the conjecture is verified for a family of triangular systems of nonautonomous differential equations satisfying boundedness assumptions. An essential tool to carry out the proof is a necessary and sufficient condition ensuring the property of nonuniform exponential dichotomy for upper block triangular linear differential systems. We also obtain some byproducts having interest on itself, such as, the diagonal significance property in terms on the above mentioned spectrum.

Abstract:The paper develops and studies a very general notion of dichotomy, referred to as "nonuniform $(h,k,\mu,\nu)$-dichotomy". The new notion contains as special cases most versions of dichotomy existing in the literature. The paper then provides corresponding new versions of robustness, Hartman-Grobman theorem, and stable manifold theorem for nonautonomous dynamical systems in Banach spaces in term of the nonuniform $(h,k,\mu,\nu)$-dichotomy.

Abstract:For linear nonautonomous differential equations we introduce a new family of spectrums defined with general nonuniform dichotomies: for a given growth rate $\mu$ in a large family of growth rates, we consider a notion of spectrum, named nonuniform $\mu$-dichotomy spectrum. This family of spectrums contain the nonuniform dichotomy spectrum as the very particular case of exponential growth rates. For each growth rate $\mu$, we describe all possible forms of the nonuniform $\mu$-dichotomy spectrum, relate its connected components with adapted notions of Lyapunov exponents, and use it to obtain a reducibility result for nonautonomous linear differential equations. We also give an illustrative examples where the spectrum is obtained, including a situation where a normal form is obtained for polynomial behavior.

Abstract:Takens Theorem for a partially hyperbolic dynamics provides a normal linearization along the center manifold. In this paper, we give the nonautonomous version of Takens Theorem under non-resonance conditions formulated in terms of the dichotomy spectrum. In our proof, one difficulty is to solve homological equations for the normal form theory which involve a center variable, while another difficulty is to find the dichotomy spectrum of a certain matrix cocycle that is block lower triangular. In order to overcome those difficulties, in comparison with the autonomous case, we need an additional term in the (nonautonomous) non-resonance conditions to guarantee certain spectral gap conditions. This additional term disappears naturally in the autonomous case.

Abstract:The observability of nonlinear systems was considered in this note. First, we reviewed the definitions and relations of observable, locally observable, weakly observable, locally weakly observable, uniformly locally weakly observable and completely uniformly locally weakly observable. Then, a sufficient condition under which a multi-output nonlinear system is completely uniformly locally weakly observable was given. The sufficient condition becomes necessary and sufficient condition when the system is single-output. We also gave a canonical form of these multi-output systems. In the end, an example illustrated how to use the given sufficient conditions to determine whether a nonlinear system is completely uniformly locally weakly observable.

Abstract:We review a recent generalization of Normal Form Theory to systems (Hamiltonian ones or general ODEs) where the perturbing term is not periodic in one coordinate variable. The main difference with the standard case relies on the non uniqueness of the Normal Form and the total absence of the small divisors problem. The exposition is quite general, so as to allow extensions to the case of more non--periodic coordinates, and more functional settings. Here, for simplicity, we work in the real--analytic class.

Abstract:In this paper, a relevant consequence of invertibility on the normal form of MIMO nonlinear systems is presented. Making full use of the definition of uniform invertibility in the sense of Singh, the multipliers δi+1(x)’s in the normal form are shown to possess a special property, that is to be triangularly dependent on the x2,i’s. As a matter of fact, this property turns out to be necessary and sufficient for uniform invertibility in the case of a two-input two-output systems having normal form. Moreover, we also show that invertibility, or this special property of the multipliers, is a sufficient condition of uniform complete observability.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce generalized dichotomies for nonautonomous random linear dynamical systems acting on arbitrary Banach spaces, and obtain their complete characterization in terms of an appropriate admissibility property. These generalized dichotomies are associated to growth rates satisfying mild conditions and they include the standard exponential behavior as a very particular case. As a nontrivial application, we establish the robustness property of such dichotomies under small (linear) perturbations.

Abstract:For nonautonomous linear difference equations with bounded coefficients on $\mathbb{N}$ which have a bounded inverse, we introduce two different notions of spectra and discuss their relation to the well-known exponential dichotomy spectrum. The first new spectral notion is called Bohl spectrum and is based on an extended notion of the concept of Bohl exponents. The second new spectral notion is called Bohl dichotomy spectrum and is based on a relaxed version of exponential dichotomy called Bohl dichotomy. We prove spectral theorems and show that the Bohl dichotomy spectrum is the closure of the Bohl spectrum and also a subset of the exponential dichotomy spectrum. We discuss the spectra of upper triangular systems and how they relate to the spectra of their diagonal entries. An example illustrates the subtle differences between the different notions of spectra.

Abstract:The notions of mixed monotone decomposition of dynamical systems are introduced. The fundamental idea is to make an elaborate use of the natural growth and decay mechanism inherent in the structure of a dynamical systems to decompose its dynamics into increase and decrease parts, and thereby to constitute an augmented dynamical system as the secalled “two-sided comparison system” of the original one. The corresponding two-sided comparison theorems show that the solution of the comparison system gives lower and upper bounds of that of the original system. Therefore, the properties of a dynamical system can be obtained through the study of its two-sided comparison system. Compared with the conventional comparison method in literature, the mixed monotone decomposition method developed herein takes in a natural way structural properties of dynamical systems into account instead of requiring strict conditions of (quasi-)monotonicity on them, and could yields refined, usually nonsymmetrical, state estimates, and thus is more suitable for systems with nonsymmetrical state constraints. As an application of the method, a sufficient condition is established for the global asymptotic stability of the trivial solution of a class of continuous-time systems with nonsymmetrical state saturation. The condition is given in terms of coefficients and state saturation levels of such systems, and contains as a special case a recent result on systems with symmetric state saturation in literature.
