Abstract:In the paper, the concept of generalized equidiagonal-dominant matrix is introduced and a necessary and sufficient condition for a non-singular H-matrix is obtained. Moreover we obtain an upper bound of ‖A-1‖∞. for a triangular matrix. Finally, we give a method based on iteration to evaluate the upper and lower bound of ‖A-1‖∞ for a non-singular M-matrix.

The purpose of this paper is to extend the above result to generalized doubly diagonally dominant matrices,that is,we show the Schur complement of a generalized doubly diagonally dominant matrix is also a diagonally dominant matrix under some conditions.

Abstract:The concept of strictly -diagonally dominant matrices is introduced. This concept is directly related to solving a system of equations. In the linear case, the strictly -diagonally dominant matrices contain the strictly diagonally dominant matrices. However, for systems of nonlinear equations, it is a challenge to present a better condition to make sure that the iteration algorithm used to solve them is convergent. A new class of nonlinear mappings and some properties are offered; moreover, the corresponding convergence theorems of the nonlinear Gauss-Seidel and Jacobi iterations are presented.

Abstract:The problem of when the k-subdirect sum of a doubly diagonally dominant matrix (DDD matrix) is also a DDD matrix is studied. Some sufficient conditions are given. The same situation is analyzed for diagonally dominant matrices and strictly diagonally dominant matrices. Additionally, some conditions are also derived when card(S) > card(S-1) which was not studied by Bru, Pedroche and Szyld [Electron. J. Linear Algebra, 15:201-209, 2006]. Examples are given to illustrate the conditions presented.

Abstract:As is well known, the Schur complements of strictly or irreducibly diagonally dominant matrices are H-matrices; however, the same is not true of generally diagonally dominant matrices. This paper proposes some conditions on the generally diagonally dominant matrix A and the subset alpha subset of {1, 2, ... , n} so that the Schur complement matrix A/alpha is an H-matrix. These conditions are then applied to decide whether a matrix is irreducible or not.

Abstract:A new criterion for identifying generalized diagonally dominant matrices (GDDM, or H-matrices) was given in [K. Ojiro, H. Niki, M. Usui, A note on a new criterion for the H-matrix property, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 150 (2003) 293–302], where the criterion is effective when the given matrix is irreducible. However, when the matrix is reducible, it may lead to a false answer. In this work, to overcome this drawback, we present an improved version. The new method is always convergent and needs fewer iterations than the earlier one. An interesting sufficient and necessary condition for any weakly diagonally dominant matrix (WDDM) to be an H-matrix is obtained. Finally, some numerical examples for the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are presented.

Abstract:Suppose A is an n by n complex matrix, whether a H-matrix is of important in many application fields is discussed in this paper. Many concept of diagonal dominance of matrices are special cases of H-matrices. The concept of local double - diagonally dominant matrix is introduced. The new matrix class contains the strictly diagonally dominant matrix, connect diagonally dominant matrix and the matrices. A sufficient condition and an equivalent condition of H-matrices are obtained.
