Abstract:We derive interior curvature bounds for admissible solutions of a class of curvature equations subject to affine Dirichlet data, generalizing a well-known estimate of Pogorelov for equations of Monge-Ampere type. For equations for which convexity of the solution is the natural ellipticity assumption, the curvature bound is proved for solutions with C-1,C-1 Dirichlet data. We also use the curvature bounds to improve and extend various existence results for the Dirichlet and Plateau problems.

Abstract:Given a quasi-symmetric self-homeomorphism h of the unit circle Sl, let Q(h) be the set of all quasiconformal mappings with the boundary correspondence h. In this paper, it is shown that there exists certain quasi-symmetric homeomorphism h, such that Q(h) satisfies either of the conditions,(1) Q(h) admits a quasiconformal mapping that is both uniquely locally-extremal and uniquely extremal-non-decreasable instead of being uniquely extremal;(2) Q(h) contains infinitely many quasiconformal mappings each of which has an extremal non-decreasable dilatation.An infinitesimal version of this result is also obtained.

Abstract:Z. Zhou et al. (2012) proved that in a Teichmfiller equivalence class, there exists an extremal quasiconformal mapping with a weakly non-decreasable dilatation. In this paper, we prove that if a Teichmfiller class contains more than one extremal dilatation, then it contains infinitely many weakly non-decreasable extremal dilatations.

Abstract:In this paper, it is shown that a weakly non-decreasable dilatation in an infinitesimal Teichmüller equivalence class can be not a non-decreasable one. As an application, we prove that if an infinitesimal equivalence class contains more than one extremal dilatation, then it contains infinitely many weakly non-decreasable extremal dilatations.

Abstract:Let $P$ be a convex body containing the origin in its interior. We study a real Monge-Ampère equation with singularities along $\del P$ which is Legendre dual to a certain free boundary Monge-Ampère equation. This is motivated by the existence problem for complete Calabi-Yau metrics on log Calabi-Yau pairs $(X, D)$ with $D$ an ample, simple normal crossings divisor. We prove the existence of solutions in $C^{\infty}(P)\cap C^{1,\alpha}(\overline{P})$, and establish the strict convexity of the free boundary. When $P$ is a polytope, we obtain an asymptotic expansion for the solution near the interior of the codimension $1$ faces of $\del P$.

Abstract:AbstractLet AT(Δ) be the asymptotic universal Teichmüller space, viewed as the space of all asymptotic Teichmüller equivalence classes [[μ]]. We show that ifμis asymptotically extremal in AT(Δ) andhp([[μ]]) <h([[μ]]) for some boundary pointpofΔ, then there are infinitely many geodesics joining [[0]] and [[μ]] in AT(Δ). As a corollary, a necessary condition for a complex dilatation to be uniquely extremal in AT(Δ) is given.

Abstract:In this paper, we will analyze the blow-up behaviors for solutions to the Laplacian equation with exponential Neumann boundary condition. In particular, the boundary value is with a kind of singular data. We show a Brezis–Merle type concentration-compactness theorem, calculate the blow up value at the blow-up point, and give a point-wise estimate for the profile of the solution sequence at the blow-up point.

Abstract:This paper investigates the relation between the boundary geometricproperties and the boundary regularity of the solutions of elliptic equations.We prove by a new unified method the pointwise boundary Hölder regularityunder proper geometric conditions. "Unified" means that our method isapplicable for the Laplace equation, linear elliptic equations in divergenceand non-divergence form, fully nonlinear elliptic equations, the p-Laplaceequations and the fractional Laplace equations etc. In addition, thesegeometric conditions are quite general. In particular, for local equations, themeasure of the complement of the domain near the boundary point concerned couldbe zero. The key observation in the method is that the strong maximum principleimplies a decay for the solution, then a scaling argument leads to theHölder regularity. Moreover, we also give a geometric condition, whichguarantees the solvability of the Dirichlet problem for the Laplace equation.The geometric meaning of this condition is more apparent than that of theWiener criterion.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop the geometry of the limit spaces of compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary, where we assume lower bounds on the sectional curvatures of manifolds and boundaries and the second fundamental forms of boundaries and an upper diameter bound. We mainly focus on the general case of non inradius collapse/convergence, where inradii of manifolds are uniformly bounded away from <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://zero.In" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> this case, many limit spaces have wild geometry, which arise from the boundary behavior of manifolds. We determine the infinitesimal and the local structures around the boundary singular points of the limit spaces.We also present some global convergence/collapsing results.

Abstract:In 2014, Gromov vaguely conjectured that a sequence of manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature should have a subsequence which converges in some weak sense to a limit space with some generalized notion of nonnegative scalar curvature. The conjecture has been made precise at an IAS Emerging Topics meeting: requiring that the sequence be three dimensional with uniform upper bounds on diameter and volume, and a positive uniform lower bound on MinA, which is the minimum area of a closed minimal surface in the manifold. Here we present a sequence of warped product manifolds with warped circles over standard spheres, that have circular fibres over the poles whose length diverges to infinity, that satisfy the hypotheses of this IAS conjecture. We prove this sequence converges in the W 1 , p sense for p < 2 to an extreme limit space that has nonnegative scalar curvature in the distributional sense as defined by Lee-LeFloch and that the total distributional scalar curvature converges. This paper only requires expertise in smooth Riemannian Geometry, smooth minimal surfaces, and Sobolev Spaces. In a second paper, requiring expertise in metric geometry, the first two authors prove intrinsic flat and Gromov–Hausdorff convergence of our sequence to this extreme limit space and investigate its geometric properties.

Abstract:In this paper, it is shown that if an extremal quasiconformal mapping f is of landslide type, then there exists another extremal quasiconformal mapping (f) over tilde in the Teichmuller equivalence class [f] such that the Beltrami differential of (f) over tilde is identical to a given Beltrami differential on the neighborhood of a landslide point. The key tool of the proof is the Reich-Strebel inequality.

Abstract:Local conditions on boundaries of $C^\infty$ Levi-flat hypersurfaces, in case the boundary is a generic submanifold, are studied. For nontrivial real analytic boundaries we get an extension and uniqueness result, which forces the hypersurface to be real analytic. This allows us to classify all real analytic generic boundaries of Levi-flat hypersurfaces in terms of their normal coordinates. For the remaining case of generic real analytic boundary we get a weaker extension theorem. We find examples to show that these two extension results are optimal. Further, a class of nowhere minimal real analytic submanifolds is found, which is never the boundary of even a $C^2$ Levi-flat hypersurface.

Abstract:In this paper, we give pointwise geometric conditions on the boundary which guarantee the differentiability of the solution at the boundary. Precisely, the geometric conditions are two parts: the proper blow up condition (see Definition 1) and the exterior Dini hypersurface condition (see Definition 2). If $\varOmega $ satisfies this two conditions at $x_0\in \partial \varOmega $, the solution is differentiable at $x_0$. Furthermore, counterexamples show that the conditions are optimal (see Remark 3 and the counterexample in Section 2).
