Abstract:We construct quantizations of multiplicative hypertoric varieties using an algebra of q-difference operators on affine space, where q is a root of unity in C. The quantization defines a matrix bundle (i.e. Azumaya algebra) over the multiplicative hypertoric variety and admits an explicit finite étale splitting. The global sections of this Azumaya algebra is a hypertoric quantum group, and we prove a localization theorem. We introduce a general framework of Frobenius quantum moment maps and their Hamiltonian reductions; our results shed light on an instance of this framework.

Abstract:We introduce a novel commutative C*-algebra $C_\mathcal{R}(X)$ of functions on a symplectic vector space $(X,\sigma)$ admitting a complex structure, along with a strict deformation quantization that maps a dense subalgebra of $C_\mathcal{R}(X)$ to the resolvent algebra introduced by Buchholz and Grundling [JFA, 2008]. The associated quantization map is a field-theoretical Weyl quantization compatible with the work of Binz, Honegger and Rieckers [AHPO, 2004]. We also define a Berezin-type quantization map on all of $C_\mathcal{R}(X)$, which continuously and injectively maps it onto a dense subset of the resolvent algebra. The commutative resolvent algebra $C_\mathcal{R}(X)$, generally defined on a real inner product space $X$, intimately depends on the finite dimensional subspaces of $X$. We thoroughly analyze the structure of this algebra in the finite dimensional case by giving a characterization of its elements and by computing its Gelfand spectrum.

Abstract:In this paper we study associative algebras with a Poisson algebra structure on the center acting by derivations on the rest of the algebra. These structures, which we call Poisson fibred algebras, appear in the study of quantum groups at roots of 1 and related algebras, as well as in the representation theory of affine Lie algebras at the critical level. Poisson fibred algebras lead to a generalization of Poisson geometry, which we develop in the paper. We also take up the general study of noncommutative spaces which are close to enough commutative ones so that they contain enough points to have interesting commutative geometry. One of the most striking uses of our noncommutative spaces is the quantum Borel-Weil-Bott Theorem for quantum sl_q (2) at a root of unity, which comes as a calculation of the cohomology of actual sheaves on actual topological spaces.

Abstract:In this article, the two-parameter quantum Heisenberg enveloping algebra, which serves as a model for certain quantum generalized Heisenberg algebras, have been studied at roots of unity. In this context, the quantum Heisenberg enveloping algebra becomes a polynomial identity algebra, and the dimension of simple modules is bounded by its PI degree. The PI degree, center, and complete classification of simple modules up to isomorphism are explicitly presented. We work over a field of arbitrary characteristic, although our results concerning the representations require that it is algebraically closed.

Abstract:: We derive an explicit expression for the Haar integral on the quantized algebra of regular functions ℂ q [ K ] on the compact real form K of an arbitrary simply connected complex simple algebraic group G . This is done in terms of the irreducible ✶-representations of the Hopf ✶-algebra ℂ q [ K ]. Quantum analogs of the measures on the symplectic leaves of the standard Poisson structure on K which are (almost) invariant under the dressing action of the dual Poisson algebraic group K ✶ are also obtained. They are related to the notion of quantum traces for representations of Hopf algebras. As an application we define and compute explicitly quantum analogs of Harish-Chandra c -functions associated to the elements of the Weyl group of G .

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak g$ be a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra over $\mathbb C$, and let $\ell$ be a positive integer. In this paper, we construct the quantization $K_{\hat{\mathfrak g},\hbar}^\ell$ of the parafermion vertex algebra $K_{\hat{\mathfrak g}}^\ell$ as an $\hbar$-adic quantum vertex subalgebra inside the simple quantum affine vertex algebra $L_{\hat{\mathfrak g},\hbar}^\ell$. We show that $L_{\hat{\mathfrak g},\hbar}^\ell$ contains an $\hbar$-adic quantum vertex subalgebra isomorphic to the quantum lattice vertex algebra $V_{\sqrt\ell Q_L}^{\eta_\ell}$, where $Q_L$ is the lattice generated by the long roots of ${\mathfrak g}$. Moreover, we prove the double commutant property of $K_{\hat{\mathfrak g},\hbar}^\ell$ and $V_{\sqrt\ell Q_L}^{\eta_\ell}$ in $L_{\hat{\mathfrak g},\hbar}^\ell$.

Abstract:We study the quantization of a linear scalar field, whose symmetries are described by the kappa-Poincare Hopf algebra, via deformed Fock space construction. The one-particle sector of the theory exhibits a natural (Planckian) cutoff for the modes of the field. At the "multiparticle" level the nontrivial coalgebra structure of kappa-Poincare leads to a deformed bosonization in the construction of Fock space states. These physical states carry energy-momentum charges which are divergenceless and obey a deformed dispersion relation.

Abstract:We prove that the quantum graph algebra and the quantum moduli algebra associated to a punctured sphere and complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ are Noetherian rings and finitely generated rings over $\mathbb{C}(q)$. Moreover, we show that these two properties still hold on $\mathbb{C}\big[q,q^{-1}\big]$ for the integral version of the quantum graph algebra. We also study the specializations $\mathcal{L}_{0,n}^\epsilon$ of the quantum graph algebra at a root of unity $\epsilon$ of odd order, and show that $\mathcal{L}_{0,n}^\epsilon$ and its invariant algebra under the quantum group $U_\epsilon(\mathfrak{g})$ have classical fraction algebras which are central simple algebras of PI degrees that we compute.

Abstract:Fedosov has described a geometro-algebraic method to construct in a canonical way a deformation of the Poisson algebra associated with a finite-dimensional symplectic manifold ("phase space"). His algorithm gives a non-commutative, but associative, product (a so-called "star-product") between smooth phase space functions parameterized by Planck's constant $\hbar$, which is treated as a deformation parameter. In the limit as $\hbar$ goes to zero, the star product commutator goes to $\hbar$ times the Poisson bracket, so in this sense his method provides a quantization of the algebra of classical observables. In this work, we develop a generalization of Fedosov's method which applies to the infinite-dimensional symplectic "manifolds" that occur in Lagrangian field theories. We show that the procedure remains mathematically well-defined, and we explain the relationship of this method to more standard perturbative quantization schemes in quantum field theory.

Creating quantum projective spaces by deforming q-symmetric algebras

Abstract:We construct a large collection of "quantum projective spaces", in the form of Koszul, Calabi-Yau algebras with the Hilbert series of a polynomial ring. We do so by starting with the toric ones (the q-symmetric algebras), and then deforming their relations using a diagrammatic calculus, proving unobstructedness of such deformations under suitable nondegeneracy conditions. We then prove that these algebras are identified with the canonical quantizations of corresponding families of quadratic Poisson structures, in the sense of Kontsevich. In this way, we obtain the first broad class of quadratic Poisson structures for which his quantization can be computed explicitly, and shown to converge, as he conjectured in 2001.

Abstract:Abnormalities of foveal smooth pursuit and the monocular optokinetic response (OKR) have often been reported in subjects with latent nystagmus (LN) and manifest latent nystagmus (MLN). This abnormality typically takes the form of a monocular asymmetry with a deficit in the response to nasal-to-temporal (N-T) motion in the visual field. Previous studies have each presented different interpretations of this finding, depending on whether the characteristics of the spontaneous oscillation were considered when analyzing the measured eye movement response: one report has suggested that these asymmetries are in fact the cause of the spontaneous nystagmus. In this study, pursuit and OKRs were examined separately and, when working synergistically and antagonistically, to attempt to overcome this difficulty. Results suggest that pursuit and the OKR could be symmetric in LN and MLN for both binocular and monocular viewing, which leads to the conclusion that the asymmetric patterns of response often reported in LN/MLN result from either shifts in the zone of minimum-intensity oscillation or from non-stimulus-specific increases in the spontaneous nystagmus.

Abstract:Let P := P m×n denote the quantized coordinate ring of the space of m × n matrices. We introduce a q-analog PD of the algebra of polynomial coefficient differential operators inside End(P) and we prove that PD is an integral form of the algebra Pol(Mat m×n ) q introduced earlier by Shklyarov-Sinel'shchikov-Vaksman [SSV04]. Let L and R denote the images in End(P) of the natural actions of the quantized enveloping algebras U q (gl m ) and U q (gl n ), respectively, and let L h and R h denote the images of their Cartan subalgebras. Our main result is that L ∩ PD and R ∩ PD are mutual centralizers in PD, and using this, we establish a new First Fundamental Theorem of invariant theory for U q (gl n ). We also determine explicit generators of the subalgebras L h ∩ PD and R h ∩ PD in terms of q-determinants.

Abstract:A way to construct the natural representation of the quantized affine algebra Uv(sl̂l) is via the deformed Fock space by Misra and Miwa. This relates the classes of Weyl modules for Uq(slN) were q is a root of unity to the action of Uv(sl̂l) as N tends toward infinity. In this paper we investigate the situation outside of type A . In classical types, we construct embeddings of the Grothendieck group of finite dimensional Uq(g) -modules into Fock spaces of different charges and define an action of an affine quantum symmetric pair that plays the role of the quantized affine algebra. We describe how the action is related to the linkage principal for quantum groups at a root of unity and tensor product multiplicities.
