Abstract:
The intercrystalline precipitation behavior and mechanical properties of 204C2 nickel-saving austenitic stainless steel (NSAs) sensitized for 15 min at 500–800 °C after solid solution treatment was investigated. The experimental results show that with the increase of sensitization temperature, the intercrystalline precipitate underwent four stages of change: point-shaped at 500 °C → discontinuous points at 600 °C → chain shape at 700 °C →growth into the grain at 800 °C. Combined with the results of the tensile test at room temperature, the specimens were sensitized at 600 °C and 700 °C, their tensile strength and yield strength both decreased, but their elongation was almost the same. The occurrence of this phenomenon indicating that compared with the discontinuous point precipitates, the chain precipitates caused less lattice distortion in the surrounding matrix and required less energy to produce the same deformation.
