Abstract:In this paper we study the regularity and singularity of the mean curvature flow of closed, smooth, embedded hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space with positive mean curvature, with an attempt to understand the geometry of first time singularities. First we consider the mean curvature flow of graphs and convex hypersurfaces. Then we consider the special blow-up solutions at the maximal mean curvature points and obtain self-similar solutions at type I singularities and translating solutions at type II singularities. Finally we show that a general blow-up sequence converges along a subsequence to a convex limit flow, and give a classification of ancient convex solutions. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 53C44, 53A10, 35J60.

Abstract:We show the optimal C1,1 regularity of geodesics in nef and big cohomology class on Kähler manifolds away from the non‐Kähler locus, assuming sufficiently regular initial data. As a special case, we prove the C1,1 regularity of geodesics of Kähler metrics on compact Kähler varieties away from the singular locus. Our main novelty is an improved boundary estimate for the complex Monge–Ampère equation that does not require strict positivity of the reference form near the boundary. We also discuss the case of some special geodesic rays.

Abstract:We prove a C1,1 estimate for solutions of complex Monge–Ampère equations on compact Kähler manifolds with possibly nonempty boundary, in a degenerate cohomology class. This strengthens previous estimates of Phong–Sturm. As applications we deduce the local C1,1 regularity of geodesic rays in the space of Kähler metrics associated to a test configuration, as well as the local C1,1 regularity of quasi-psh envelopes in nef and big classes away from the non-Kähler locus.

Abstract:We prove a C-1,C-1 estimate for solutions of complex Monge-Ampere equations on compact almost Hermitian manifolds. Using this C-1,C-1 estimate, we show the existence of C-1,C-1 solutions to the degenerate Monge-Ampere equations, the corresponding Dirichlet problems and the singular Monge-Ampere equations. We also study the singularities of the pluricomplex Green's function. In addition, the proof of the above C-1,C-1 estimate is valid for a kind of complex Monge-Ampere-type equation. As a geometric application, we prove the C-1,C-1 regularity of geodesics in the space of Sasakian metrics.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate the rigidity of ancient solutions of the mean curvature flow with arbitrary codimension in space forms. We first prove that under certain sharp asymptotic pointwise curvature pinching condition the ancient solution in a sphere is either a shrinking spherical cap or a totally geodesic sphere. Then we show that under certain pointwise curvature pinching condition the ancient solution in a hyperbolic space is a family of shrinking spheres. We also obtain a rigidity result for ancient solutions in a nonnegatively curved space form under an asymptotic integral curvature pinching condition.

Abstract:We give sharp C^2,α estimates for solutions of some fully nonlinear elliptic and parabolic equations in complex geometry and almost complex geometry, assuming a bound on the Laplacian of the solution. We also prove the analogous results to complex Monge–Ampère equations with conical singularities. As an application, we obtain a local estimate for Calabi–Yau equation in almost complex geometry. We also improve the C^2,α regularities and estimates for viscosity solutions to some uniformly elliptic and parabolic equations. All our results are optimal regarding the Hölder exponent.

Abstract:We prove that any two Kähler potentials on a compact Kähler manifold can be connected by a geodesic segment of C^1,1 regularity. This follows from an a priori interior real Hessian bound for solutions of the nondegenerate complex Monge-Ampère equation, which is independent of a positive lower bound for the right hand side.

Abstract:We introduce the space of mixed-volume forms endowed with an $L^2$ metric on a balanced manifold. A geodesic equation can be derived in this space that has an interesting structure and extends the equation of Donaldson \cite{Donaldson10} and Chen-He \cite{CH11} in the space of volume forms on a Riemannian manifold. This nonlinear PDE is studied in detail and the existence of weak solution is shown for the Dirichlet problem, under a positivity assumption. Later we study the Calabi-Yau equation for balanced metrics and introduce a geometric criteria for prescribing volume forms that is closely related to the positivity assumption above. We call this assumption the sub-Astheno-Kähler condition. By deriving $C^0$ a priori estimates, we show that the existence of solutions can be established on all sub-Astheno-Kähler manifolds.

Abstract:In this note we continue our investigation of geodesics in the space of convex and plurisubharmonic functions. We show optimal regularity for geodesics joining two smooth strictly convex functions. We also investigate the regularity theory in the $C^{1,\alpha}$ realm. Finally we discuss the regularity of geodesics joining two toric strictly plurisubharmonic functions.

Abstract:We show that Lipschitz solutions $u$ of $\mathrm{div}\, G(\nabla u)=0$ in $B_1\subset\mathbb R^2$ are $C^1$, for strictly monotone vector fields $G\in C^0(\mathbb R^2;\mathbb R^2)$ satisfying a mild ellipticity condition. If $G=\nabla F$ for a strictly convex function $F$, and $0\leq \lambda(\xi)\leq \Lambda(\xi)$ are the two eigenvalues of $\nabla^2 F(\xi)$, our assumption is that the set $\lbrace\lambda=0\rbrace \cap \lbrace \Lambda=\infty\rbrace$, where ellipticity degenerates $both$ from below and from above, is finite. This extends results by De Silva and Savin (Duke Math. J. 151, No. 3, p.487-532, 2010), which assumed either that set empty, or the larger set $\lbrace \lambda=0\rbrace$ finite. Our main new input is to transfer estimates in $\lbrace \lambda > 0 \rbrace $ to estimates in $\lbrace \Lambda <\infty\rbrace$ by means of a conjugate equation. When $G$ is not a gradient, the ellipticity assumption needs to be interpreted in a specific way, and we highlight the nontrivial effect of the antisymmetric part of $\nabla G$.

As an application, we derive the global regularity result concerning the parabolic normalized p-Laplace equations, provided that p is close enough to 2.
