Abstract:In this paper we study the analyticity of solutions to a free boundary problem modeling the growth of multi-layer tumors. The problem consists of three elliptic equations defined on a strip-like domain in Rn+1, with one part of the boundary moving and a priori unknown. The evolution of the moving boundary is governed by a Stefan type equation, with the surface tension effect taken into consideration. Due to the unknown boundary and surface tension effect, this problem is an essentially nonlinear problem. By following a functional analytical approach and the theory of maximal regularity, we prove that solutions of this free boundary problem are real analytic in time and space for any positive time, even if the given initial data admit mild regularity only.

Abstract:Let G=(V,E) be an infinite graph. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the nonexistence of global solutions for the following semilinear heat equation {[ ∂ _t u=Δ u + u^1+α, t>0,x∈ V,; u(0,x)=u_0(x), x ∈ V, ]. where Δ is an unbounded Laplacian on G, α is a positive parameter and u_0 is a nonnegative and nontrivial initial value. Using on-diagonal lower heat kernel bounds, we prove that the semilinear heat equation admits the blow-up solutions, which is viewed as a discrete analog of that of Fujita (J Fac Sci Univ Tokyo 13:109–124, 1966) and had been generalized to locally finite graphs with bounded Laplacians by Lin and Wu (Calc Var Partial Diff Equ 56(4):22, 2017). In this paper, new techniques have been developed to deal with unbounded graph Laplacians.
On the space-time analyticity of the inhomogeneous heat equation on the half space with Neumann boundary conditions

Abstract:We consider the inhomogeneous heat equation on the half-space $\mathbb R_{+}^{d}$ with Neumann boundary conditions. We prove a space-time Gevrey regularity of the solution, with a radius of analyticity uniform up to the boundary of the half-space. We also address the case of homogeneous Robin boundary conditions. Our results generalize the case of homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions established by Kukavica and Vicol in [10].

Abstract:This paper establishes bounds on norms of all orders for solutions on the global attractor of the 2D Navier-Stokes equations, complexified in time. Specifically, for periodic boundary conditions on [0, L](2), and a force g is an element of D(A((alpha-1)/2)), we show that there is a fixed strip about the real-time axis on which a uniform bound vertical bar A(alpha)u vertical bar < m(alpha)nu kappa(alpha)(0) holds for each alpha is an element of N. Here nu is viscosity, kappa(0) = 2 pi/L, and m(alpha) is explicitly given in terms of g and alpha. We show that if any element in A is in D(A(alpha)), then all of A is in D(A(alpha)), and likewise with D(A(alpha)) replaced by C-infinity(Omega). We demonstrate the universality of this 'all for one, one for all' law is also shown to hold for the union of a hierarchical set of function classes. Finally, we treat the question of whether the zero solution can be in the global attractor for a non-zero force by showing that if this is so, the force must be in a particular function class.

Abstract:Mosconi proved Liouville theorems for ancient solutions of subexponential growth to the heat equation on a manifold with Ricci curvature bounded below. We extend these results to graphs with bounded geometry: for a graph with bounded geometry, any nonnegative ancient solution of subexponential growth in space and time to the heat equation is stationary, and thus is a harmonic solution.

Abstract:We study the time regularity of local weak solutions of the heat equation in the context of local regular symmetric Dirichlet spaces. Under two basic and rather minimal assumptions, namely, the existence of certain cut-off functions and a very weak L 2 Gaussian type upper bound for the heat semigroup, we prove that the time derivatives of a local weak solution of the heat equation are themselves local weak solutions. This applies, for instance, to local weak solutions of parabolic equations with uniformly elliptic symmetric divergence form second order operators with measurable coefficients. We describe some applications to the structure of ancient local weak solutions of such equations which generalize recent results of Colding and Minicozzi (Duke Math. J., 170 (18), 4171–4182 2021) and Zhang (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 148 (4), 1665–1670 2020).

Abstract:Let G=(V,E) be a simple, finite, connected, weighted graph satisfying curvature condition CDE′(n,0) and polynomial volume growth V(x,r)≤c0rm, Δη be the normalized Laplacian. In this paper we prove that the semilinear heat equation ut=Δηu+u1+α on G has no non-negative global solutions for any bounded, non-negative and non-trivial initial value in the case of mα=2. The obtained result provides a significant complement to the work that was done recently by Lin and Wu (2017) concerning the existence and nonexistence of global solutions for the semilinear heat equation on graphs.

Abstract:We show the optimal decay rate estimates of the space-time derivatives of solutions to the fractional Navier-Stokes equations, which yields the joint space-time analyticity.Consequently, the lower bounds on the growth rate (in time) of radius of space analyticity, time analyticity, and joint spacetime analyticity of solutions are obtained.The proofs only involve real variable methods.

Abstract:Magnetohydrodynamics equations with periodic boundary conditions are considered in this note.The time analyticity of the solutions for the equations is proved and the backward uniqueness is obtained.As for the periodic weak solutions it is proved that the weak periodic solutions are actually strong solutions when the period is smaller than a certain constant,and furthermore such strong solutions are necessarily stationary when the periods are small enough.

Abstract:In this paper, we show the optimal decay rate estimates of the space-time derivatives and the joint space-time analyticity of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations. As it is known from the Hartogs's theorem, for a complex function with two complex variables, the joint analyticity with respect to two variables can be derived from combining of analyticity with respect to each variable. However, as a function of two real variables for space and time, the joint space-time analyticity of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations cannot be directly obtained from the combination of space analyticity and time analyticity. Our result seems to be the first quantitative result for the joint space-time analyticity of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations, and the proof only involves real variable methods. Moreover, the decay rate estimates also yield the bounds on the growth (in time) of radius of space analyticity, time analyticity, and joint space-time analyticity of solutions. Abstract:Based on some new elementary estimates for the space–time derivatives of the heat kernel, we use a bootstrapping approach to establish quantitative estimates on the optimal decay rates for the Lq(Rd) ( 1≤q≤∞ , d∈N ) norm of the space–time derivatives of solutions to the (modified) Patlak-Keller–Segel equations with initial data in L1(Rd) , which implies the joint space–time analyticity of solutions. When the L1(Rd) norm of the initial datum is small, the upper bound for the decay estimates is global in time, which yields a lower bound on the growth rate of the radius of space–time analyticity in time. As a byproduct, the space analyticity is obtained for any initial data in L1(Rd) . The decay estimates and space–time analyticity are also established for solutions bounded in both space and time variables. The results can be extended to a more general class of equations.

Abstract:We study the \textit{stochastic heat equation} (SHE) on $\R^d$ subject to a centered Gaussian noise that is white in time and colored in space.The drift term is assumed to satisfy an Osgood-type condition and the diffusion coefficient may have certain related growth. We show that there exists random field solution which do not explode in finite time. This complements and improves upon recent results on blow-up of solutions to stochastic partial differential equations.

Abstract:We investigate the strict positivity and the compact support property of solutions to the one-dimensional nonlinear stochastic heat equation: $$\partial_t u(t,x) = \frac{1}{2}\partial^2_x u(t,x) + \sigma(u(t,x))\dot{W}(t,x), \quad (t,x)\in \mathbf{R}_+\times\mathbf{R},$$ with nonnegative and compactly supported initial data $u_0$, where $\dot{W}$ is the space-time white noise and $\sigma:\mathbf{R} \to \mathbf{R} $ is a continuous function with $\sigma(0)=0$. We prove that (i) if $v/ \sigma(v)$ is sufficiently large near $v=0$, then the solution $u(t,\cdot)$ is strictly positive for all $t>0$, and (ii) if $v/\sigma(v)$ is sufficiently small near $v= 0$, then the solution $u(t,\cdot)$ has compact support for all $t>0$. These findings extend previous results concerning the strict positivity and the compact support property, which were analyzed only for the case $\sigma(u)\approx u^\gamma$ for $\gamma>0$. Additionally, we establish the uniqueness of a solution and the weak comparison principle in case (i).

Abstract:By studying the heat semigroup, we prove Li-Yau type estimates for bounded and positive solutions of the heat equation on graphs, under the assumption of the curvature-dimension inequality CDE'(n,0), which can be consider as a notion of curvature for graphs. Furthermore, we derive that if a graph has non-negative curvature then it has the volume doubling property, from this we can prove the Gaussian estimate for heat kernel, and then Poincaré inequality and Harnack inequality. As a consequence, we obtain that the dimension of space of harmonic functions on graphs with polynomial growth is finite, which original is a conjecture of Yau on Riemannian manifold proved by Colding and Minicozzi. Under the assumption of positive curvature on graphs, we derive the Bonnet-Myers type theorem that the diameter of graphs is finite and bounded above in terms of the positive curvature by proving some Log Sobolev inequalities.

Abstract:We investigate the long-time behavior of global solutions to the energy critical heat equation in $R^5$ \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} \pp_t u=\Delta u+|u|^{\frac{4}{3}} u ~&\mbox{ in }~ R^5 \times (t_0,\infty), u(\cdot,t_0)=u_0~&\mbox{ in }~ R^5. \end{cases} \end{equation*} For $t_0$ sufficiently large, we show the existence of positive solutions for a class of initial value $u_0(x)\sim |x|^{-\gamma}$ as $|x|\rightarrow \infty$ with $\gamma>\frac32$ such that the global solutions behave asymptotically \begin{equation*} \| u(\cdot,t) \|_{L^\infty (\R^5)} \sim \begin{cases} t^{-\frac{3(2-\gamma)}{2}} ~&\mbox{ if }~ \frac32<\gamma<2 (\ln t)^{-3} ~&\mbox{ if }~ \gamma=2 1 ~&\mbox{ if }~ \gamma>2 \end{cases} \mbox{ \ for \ } t >t_0, \end{equation*} which is slower than the self-similar time decay $t^{-\frac{3}{4}}$. These rates are inspired by Fila-King \cite[Conjecture 1.1]{FilaKing12}.
