Abstract:Mosconi proved Liouville theorems for ancient solutions of subexponential growth to the heat equation on a manifold with Ricci curvature bounded below. We extend these results to graphs with bounded geometry: for a graph with bounded geometry, any nonnegative ancient solution of subexponential growth in space and time to the heat equation is stationary, and thus is a harmonic solution.

Abstract:In this paper we study the analyticity of solutions to a free boundary problem modeling the growth of multi-layer tumors. The problem consists of three elliptic equations defined on a strip-like domain in Rn+1, with one part of the boundary moving and a priori unknown. The evolution of the moving boundary is governed by a Stefan type equation, with the surface tension effect taken into consideration. Due to the unknown boundary and surface tension effect, this problem is an essentially nonlinear problem. By following a functional analytical approach and the theory of maximal regularity, we prove that solutions of this free boundary problem are real analytic in time and space for any positive time, even if the given initial data admit mild regularity only.

Abstract:We study ancient solutions of polynomial growth to both continuous-time and discretetime heat equations on graphs with unbounded Laplacians. We extend Colding and Minicozzi's theorem [12] on manifolds and the result [22] on graphs with normalized Laplacians to the setting of graphs with unbounded Laplacians: for a graph admitting an intrinsic metric, which has polynomial volume growth, the dimension of the space of ancient solutions of polynomial growth is bounded by the dimension of harmonic functions with the same growth up to some factor.

Abstract:Let G=(V,E) be an infinite graph. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the nonexistence of global solutions for the following semilinear heat equation {[ ∂ _t u=Δ u + u^1+α, t>0,x∈ V,; u(0,x)=u_0(x), x ∈ V, ]. where Δ is an unbounded Laplacian on G, α is a positive parameter and u_0 is a nonnegative and nontrivial initial value. Using on-diagonal lower heat kernel bounds, we prove that the semilinear heat equation admits the blow-up solutions, which is viewed as a discrete analog of that of Fujita (J Fac Sci Univ Tokyo 13:109–124, 1966) and had been generalized to locally finite graphs with bounded Laplacians by Lin and Wu (Calc Var Partial Diff Equ 56(4):22, 2017). In this paper, new techniques have been developed to deal with unbounded graph Laplacians.

Abstract:We study the time regularity of local weak solutions of the heat equation in the context of local regular symmetric Dirichlet spaces. Under two basic and rather minimal assumptions, namely, the existence of certain cut-off functions and a very weak L 2 Gaussian type upper bound for the heat semigroup, we prove that the time derivatives of a local weak solution of the heat equation are themselves local weak solutions. This applies, for instance, to local weak solutions of parabolic equations with uniformly elliptic symmetric divergence form second order operators with measurable coefficients. We describe some applications to the structure of ancient local weak solutions of such equations which generalize recent results of Colding and Minicozzi (Duke Math. J., 170 (18), 4171–4182 2021) and Zhang (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 148 (4), 1665–1670 2020).

Abstract:We study the ancient solutions of parabolic equations on an infinite strip. We show that any polynomial growth ancient solution for a class of parabolic equations must be constant. Furthermore, we show that the vector space of ancient solutions that grow slower than a fixed exponential order is of finite dimension.

Abstract:Based on some new elementary estimates for the space–time derivatives of the heat kernel, we use a bootstrapping approach to establish quantitative estimates on the optimal decay rates for the Lq(Rd) ( 1≤q≤∞ , d∈N ) norm of the space–time derivatives of solutions to the (modified) Patlak-Keller–Segel equations with initial data in L1(Rd) , which implies the joint space–time analyticity of solutions. When the L1(Rd) norm of the initial datum is small, the upper bound for the decay estimates is global in time, which yields a lower bound on the growth rate of the radius of space–time analyticity in time. As a byproduct, the space analyticity is obtained for any initial data in L1(Rd) . The decay estimates and space–time analyticity are also established for solutions bounded in both space and time variables. The results can be extended to a more general class of equations.

Abstract:Let G=(V,E) be a simple, finite, connected, weighted graph satisfying curvature condition CDE′(n,0) and polynomial volume growth V(x,r)≤c0rm, Δη be the normalized Laplacian. In this paper we prove that the semilinear heat equation ut=Δηu+u1+α on G has no non-negative global solutions for any bounded, non-negative and non-trivial initial value in the case of mα=2. The obtained result provides a significant complement to the work that was done recently by Lin and Wu (2017) concerning the existence and nonexistence of global solutions for the semilinear heat equation on graphs.
On the space-time analyticity of the inhomogeneous heat equation on the half space with Neumann boundary conditions

Abstract:We consider the inhomogeneous heat equation on the half-space $\mathbb R_{+}^{d}$ with Neumann boundary conditions. We prove a space-time Gevrey regularity of the solution, with a radius of analyticity uniform up to the boundary of the half-space. We also address the case of homogeneous Robin boundary conditions. Our results generalize the case of homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions established by Kukavica and Vicol in [10].

Abstract:In this paper, we show the optimal decay rate estimates of the space-time derivatives and the joint space-time analyticity of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations. As it is known from the Hartogs's theorem, for a complex function with two complex variables, the joint analyticity with respect to two variables can be derived from combining of analyticity with respect to each variable. However, as a function of two real variables for space and time, the joint space-time analyticity of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations cannot be directly obtained from the combination of space analyticity and time analyticity. Our result seems to be the first quantitative result for the joint space-time analyticity of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations, and the proof only involves real variable methods. Moreover, the decay rate estimates also yield the bounds on the growth (in time) of radius of space analyticity, time analyticity, and joint space-time analyticity of solutions. Abstract:We study the \textit{stochastic heat equation} (SHE) on $\R^d$ subject to a centered Gaussian noise that is white in time and colored in space.The drift term is assumed to satisfy an Osgood-type condition and the diffusion coefficient may have certain related growth. We show that there exists random field solution which do not explode in finite time. This complements and improves upon recent results on blow-up of solutions to stochastic partial differential equations.

Abstract:Magnetohydrodynamics equations with periodic boundary conditions are considered in this note.The time analyticity of the solutions for the equations is proved and the backward uniqueness is obtained.As for the periodic weak solutions it is proved that the weak periodic solutions are actually strong solutions when the period is smaller than a certain constant,and furthermore such strong solutions are necessarily stationary when the periods are small enough.

Abstract:In this paper, we study two subjects on internally controlled heat equations with time varying potentials: the attainable subspaces and the bang-bang property for some time optimal control problems. We present some equivalent characterizations on the attainable subspaces and provide a sufficient condition to ensure the bang-bang property. Both the above-mentioned characterizations and the sufficient condition are closely related to some function spaces consisting of some solutions to the adjoint equations. It seems for us that the existing ways to derive the bang-bang property for heat equations with time-invariant potentials (see, for instance, [H. O. Fattorini, Infinite Dimensional Linear Control Systems: The Time Optimal and Norm Optimal Problems, Elsevier, Amsterdam 2005], [F. Gozzi and P. Loreti, SIAM J. Control Optim., 37 (1999), pp. 1195-1221], [V. Mizel and T. Seidman, SIAM J. Control Optim., 35 (1997), pp. 1204-1216], and [G. Wang, SIAM J. Control Optim., 47 (2008), pp. 1701-1720]) do not work for the case where the potentials are time varying. We provide another way to approach it in the current paper.
