Abstract:Acid slag from fly ash is a new kind of solid waste for which there are few reports. In this paper, β-SiAlON phosphors production by the carbothermal reduction and nitridation of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) fly ash acid slag is discussed and we investigated the effect of the carbon environment on the products. The phase compositions of the products under different carbon environments were determined from X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra. The β-SiAlON multiphase materials were obtained more readily from our novel method than from traditional methods. The acid slag of CFB fly ash could produce SiAlON phosphors, similar to fly ash and other natural minerals. The photoluminescence properties of the Eu-doped β-SiAlON phosphors were studied by photoluminescence (PL) spectra. The morphology of the products was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The chemical composition of the product was analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The acid slag from fly ash was recycled without secondary pollution.
