Abstract:We investigate the ergodicity for the stochastic complex Ginzburg-Landau equation with a general non-linear term on the two-dimensional torus driven by a complex-valued space-time white noise. Due to the roughness of complex-valued space-time white noise, this equation is a singular stochastic partial differential equation and its solution is expected to be a distribution-valued stochastic process. For this reason, the non-linear term is ill-defined and needs to be renormalized. We first use the theory of complex multiple Wiener-Ito integral to renormalize this equation and then consider its global well-posedness. Further, we prove its ergodicity using an asymptotic coupling argument for a large dissipation coefficient.

Abstract:We derive rigorously the reduced dynamical laws for quantized vortex dynamics of the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation on torus when the core size of vortex $\varepsilon\to 0$. The reduced dynamical laws of the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation are governed by a mixed flow of gradient flow and Hamiltonian flow which are both driven by a renormalized energy on torus. Finally, some first integrals and analytic solutions of the reduced dynamical laws are discussed.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary conditions (0.1) iut+−Δs0u+−Δr0f(|u|2)u=0,x∈T≔R/2πZ, where s0∈(1/2,1) , r0∈[0,s0−1/2] and f is a real analytic function in some neighborhood of the origin in C . The above equation (0.1) is reversible with respect to the involution G:(u,ū)↦(ū,u) . By the KAM (Kolmogorov–Arnold–Moser) theorem for an infinite dimensional reversible system with unbounded perturbation, we obtain that there exists Cantor families of quasi-periodic solutions of small amplitude to equation (0.1).

Abstract:We study quasi-periodic eigenvalue problems that arise in the stability analysis of periodic traveling wave solutions to Hamiltonian PDEs. We establish bounds on regions in the complex plane when the eigenvalues may deviate from the imaginary axis, and estimates for the number of such off-axis eigenvalues. These relations hold when the dispersion relation grows sufficiently rapidly in the wavenumber. The proofs involve a Gershgorin disk argument together with the Hamiltonian symmetry of the spectrum. The results are applicable to a broad class of nonlinear dispersive equations including the generalized Korteweg--de Vries, Benjamin--Bona--Mahoney, and Kawanhara equations.

Abstract:A solution in the form of X-wave patterns of the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation with a harmonic background inhomogeneity is obtained. The pattern can be attributed to the effects of the harmonic potential and the boundary configuration and size. By varying the harmonic of the background potential, the competition among three types of wave patterns: spiral, X, and target, is investigated by following the evolution of the Fourier modes.

The methodology is based on the application of a Newton-Kantorovich theorem whose hypotheses are tested using Fourier analysis methods for a numerical approximation of the parameterization of an invariant torus.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors are concerned with the forced isochronous oscillators with a repulsive singularity and a bounded nonlinearityx '' + V'(x) + g( x) = e(t, x, x'),where the assumptions on V, g and e are regular, described precisely in the introduction. Using a variant of Moser's twist theorem of invariant curves, the authors show the existence of quasi-periodic solutions and boundedness of all solutions. This extends the result of Liu to the case of the above system where e depends on the velocity.

Abstract:The cubic complex Ginzburg-Landau equation is one of the most-studied nonlinear equations in the physics community. It describes a vast variety of phenomena from nonlinear waves to second-order phase transitions, from superconductivity, superfluidity and Bose-Einstein condensation to liquid crystals and strings in field theory. Our goal is to give an overview of various phenomena described the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation in one, two and three dimensions from the point of view of condensed matter physicists. Our approach is to study the relevant solutions to get an insight into nonequilibrium phenomena in spatially extended systems.

Abstract:We show that a generic quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator in $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ has purely singular spectrum. That is, for any minimal translation flow on a finite-dimensional torus, there is a residual set of continuous sampling functions such that for each of these sampling functions, the Schrödinger operator with the resulting potential has empty absolutely continuous spectrum.

Abstract:We show that, for one-dimensional discrete Schrödinger operators, stability of Anderson localization under a class of rank one perturbations implies absence of intervals in spectra. The argument is based on well-known result of Gordon and del Rio--Makarov--Simon, combined with a way to consider perturbations whose ranges are not necessarily cyclic. The main application of the results is showing that a class of quasiperiodic operators with sawtooth-like potentials, for which such a version of stable localization is known, has Cantor spectra. We also obtain several results on gap filling under rank one perturbations for some general (not necessarily monotone) classes of quasiperiodic operators with discontinuous potentials.

Abstract:For both cubic and quintic nonlinearities of the one-dimensional complex Ginzburg-Landau evolution equation, we prove by a theorem of Eremenko the finiteness of the number of traveling waves whose squared modulus has only poles in the complex plane, and we provide all their closed form expressions. Among these eleven solutions, five are provided by the method used. This allows us to complete the list of solutions previously obtained by other authors.

Abstract:We study the fractional complex Ginzburg-Landau equation with periodic initial boundary value condition in three spatial dimensions. The problem is discretized fully by Fourier Galerkin spectral method. The dynamical behavior of the resulting discrete system is examined. The existence of a global attractor is established, and the corresponding convergence is proved through the error estimates of the discrete solution. Numerical stability and convergence of the discrete scheme are proved.
