Abstract:A front-end circuit with 16-channel 12-bit 100-kSps RC-hybrid successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to digital converter (ADC) for industrial monitoring application is presented. The front-end circuit can process a wide range input voltage as large as 10 V which is beyond the supply voltage, with the help of voltage divider preceding an analog multiplexer. A programmable gain amplifier (PGA) is used to convert different input voltage ranges into a same one. A RC hybrid digital-to analog converter (DAC) is employed in SAR ADC to avoid calibration requirement for the bridge capacitor which is usually needed for a split capacitor SAR ADC architecture. Serial peripheral interface (SPI) is integrated in the design for communication and configuration. The prototype circuit fabricated in a 0.18 um 3.3 V CMOS process shows the measured DNI, and IN1, within-0.821+0.68 LSB and-0.851+0.82 1,SR, respectively. The circuit consumes 2.04 mVV with a 3.3 V supply voltage. The whole chip occupies an area of 1.844 x 1.387 mm(2).

Abstract:A multi-bit quantized high performance sigma-delta (Sigma-Delta) audio DAC is presented. Compared to its single-bit counterpart, the multi-bit quantization offers many advantages, such as simpler Sigma-Delta modulator circuit, lower clock frequency and smaller spurious tones. With the data weighted average (DWA) mismatch shaping algorithm, element mismatch errors induced by multi-bit quantization can be pushed out of the signal band, hence the noise floor inside the signal band is greatly lowered. To cope with the crosstalk between digital and analog circuits, every analog component is surrounded by a guard ring, which is an innovative attempt. The 18-bit DAC with the above techniques, which is implemented in a 0.18 mu m mixed-signal CMOS process, occupies a core area of 1.86 mm(2). The measured dynamic range (DR) and peak SNDR are 96 dB and 88 dB, respectively.

Abstract:This paper presents a low-power high-resolution band-pass Sigma Delta ADC for accelerometer applications. The proposed band-pass Sigma Delta ADC consists of a high-performance 6-th order feed-forward Sigma Delta modulator with 1-bit quantization and a low-power, area-efficient digital filter. The ADC is fabricated in 180 nm 1P6M mixed-signal CMOS process with a die area of 5 mm(2). This high-resolution ADC got 90 dB peak signal to noise plus distortion ratio (SNDR) and 96 dB dynamic range (DR) over 4 kHz bandwidth, while the intermediate frequency (IF) is shifting from 100 KHz to 200 KHz. The power dissipation of the chip is 5.6 mW under 1.8 V (digital)/3.3 V (analog) power supply.

Abstract:A 14-bit 500-MS/s and 1-GS/s configurable pipelined Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) is implemented in 28 nm CMOS. The ADC leverages dither and correlation-based background digital calibration techniques to correct the interstage gain and settling errors. A dithering technique is employed to inject a large dither signal to randomize residual non-linearity in the pipelined ADC. In order to speed up the correlation-based calibration, a variable-step-size LMS algorithm is used to extract the error coefficients. An optional interleaved mode is provided, where the two ADCs on a chip are time-interleaved to realize a single 14-bit 1 GS/s ADC. After calibration, the ADC achieves a 61.64 dB SNDR and 71.83 dB SFDR at 1 GS/s sample rate. The chip occupies 6 mm <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sup> area and consumes 1.4 W at 2.0/1.0 V supplies.

Abstract:In consideration of the higher and higher requirement of data acquisition precision and speed on the ultrasonic measuring distance system recently,at the same time,the simple interface circuit and high reliability was also required,a high-speed data acquisition system used in collecting ultrasonic echo signals was designed and implemented.This system takes the master-control unit with TMS320F2812,takes AD7674 as the high-speed ADC,takes the data transmission con-nection by SPI.Through the research of TMS320F2812 and the AD7674 SPI succession and controls register,it gave the method of disposing the SPI pattern correctly and the controlled process,and solved the critical path of the signal integrity problems.Actual trial shows that in 40kHz ultrasonic ranging system,the error is not more than 2mm,the blind controlled is less than 1cm,it meets the high-precision ultrasonic echo ranging system signal acquisition needs.

Abstract:AD7714 is a complete analog front end for low-frequency measurement applications.It employs a sigma-delta conversion technique to realize 24 bits of no missing codes performance.Its on-chip amplifier gain and digital filter can be programmed via the on-chip register.It also offers SPI interface with CPU.Some unclear features in the user manual offered by Analog Devices inc.are clarified,an error is corrected.The key methods and some problems of application are discussed.In the end,two applications are presented.

Abstract:Digital control has been widely used in power electronics and its sampling rate is important to the control precision. Generally, faster the sampling rate is, closer the digital control is to that of its analog/original antetype. However, in most power electronics system, the sampling rate is commonly once or twice of the PWM switching frequency, which is vital for switching losses. This coupled relationship may result in conflict between high digitalized resolution and high efficiency, especially for high power applications. Multi-sampling technology is to sample the signal many times in one PWM period. Therefore, it doesn't need to increase the switching speed proportionally while fastening the sampling rate. This paper adopts the multi-sampling in an Active Power Filter (APF) application. A logic method to deal with the problem during implementation due to the nature of digital controller is first proposed. Principle and implementation of this technology is discussed in detail. Analysis and experiment results show that the high compensation performance and low switching loss can be both achieved using the multisampling method.

Abstract:Catering to demands emerging from industry,academia and education,a portable PC-based USB-port multi-mode multi-channel A/D data acquisition system is designed and produced.AD conversion unit,controller unit and buffer unit are integrated to an external box to realize reliable high-speed sampling.Real-time and non-real-time software comprise a set of virtual instrument to work with the hardware.Extensibility and reusability are well provided by a multi-layer structure.Sampling frequency range of the system is 80~500,000Hz,which realizes frequency-measurement,periodically multiplied sampling and non-periodic sampling.This system is good at performing in-field industrial rotator dynamic balancing operation,which has been verified via rotator dynamic balancing experiments.

Abstract:A 12-bit 200-MS/s analog-to-digital converter for 4G communication and radar systems was presented.In this ADC,time-interleaved and op-amp sharing technology to reduce power consumption,and decrease gain-mismatch,offset-mismatch and bandwidth-mismatch effects as well.To improve high frequency performance and prevent time-skew problems,an SHA operating at 200 MHz was adopted,which contained a high gain and bandwidth opamp.Fabricated in 0.18 μm HJTC 1P6M CMOS process,the core circuit occupied a chip area of 1.6 mm×4 mm.Test results showed that the ADC had an SFDR of 83.1 dB and SNDR of 59.6 dB for an fin of 4.9 MHz,while the core-analog circuit only consumed 120 mA of current from 2.0 V supply.The FOM1 and FOM2 were as low as 0.08 pJ/step and 1.25 pJ/step.

Abstract:Many signal processing applications like blind source signal separation, audio beam etc, require multi-channel synchronous data acquisition. These applications require signal acquired from multiple channels to be digitized synchronously to preserve the phase relationship. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a high speed synchronous multi-channel data acquisition and processing system based on ADS8365, FPGA and DSP. The design takes ADS8365, XC3S200 and TMS320C6747 as the core devices to implement 12 channels of analog signal synchronous data acquisition and real-time processing. FPGA controls A/D synchronously sampling 12 channel of signal after they pass through the conditioning circuits, then, writes the data into an internal FIFO. The internal FIFO will trigger the interrupt of DSP after it is half-full. Finally, DSP will read the FIFO data and make real-time processing. The system test results show that the signal-to-noise ratio of the system is 67.13dB which meets the design requirements.

Abstract:Abstract In order to improve the accuracy of the real-time signal acquisition, a real-time signal acquisition system based on high speed ADC and FPGA is proposed in this paper. AD9208 is used to realize high speed acquisition and DDC processing of original signal. FPGA 7V690T is used to realize digital channelization and fine FFT processing. This system can realize massive data storage and real-time signal display. The test results show that this system can effectively realize real-time signal acquisition and processing, and has strong anti-interference ability.

Abstract:ADS1298 and ADS1252 are two wonderful ICs issued by TI company,which can be used for bioelectricity acquisition system.In this paper,the mechanisms of sampling configuration of the two ICs are summarized first.For ADS1 2 9 8 configuration,there are two first-time sampling modes to be selected,one is high-precision mode with the first-time sampling rate 512 kHz,and the other is the low-power mode with its first-time sampling rate 256 kHz;then a low-pass filter is configured with an order parameter N,and its frequency response is of SINC type function.For ADS1 2 5 2 ,the external clock is divided by 6 ,getting the first-time sample rate,and then also a SINC low-pass filter is used with a fixed order parameter 64.After filtering,for both ICs,a resampling process with certain rate is performed,and then the final data are output to us for collection.On basis of these,the specific sampling configuration schemes for typical ECG acquisition systems with the two ICs are proposed,and the corresponding performance are simulated.ADS1 2 9 8 is configured to a high-precision mode,its resampling parameter N is configured with 1024,and ADS1252’s system clock is set as 0.192 MHz,so that both ICs can get the same final sampling rate of 500 Hz.The paper also built a real typical ECG acquisition system with ADS 1298 and C8051F320 configured using the proposed scheme,which has been able to acquire the real ECG signals.After test,basically,the amplitude frequency response of the real system is consistent with the simulated result.It is believed that this work is useful for the sampling configuration of the two ICs when used in bioelectricity acquisition applications.

Abstract:This paper describes a 10bit 30 MSPS CMOS analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for high-speed signal processing, especially for subsampling applications, for example digital video broadcasting over cable (DVB-C), terrestrial (DVB-T) and handheld (DVB-H) systems. The proposed pipelined ADC adopts a power efficient amplifier sharing technique, an improved gate-bootstrapping technique for a wideband SHA, a proposed stable high-swing bias circuit for a wide-swing gainboosting telescopic amplifier. The measured differential and integral nonlinearities of the prototype in a 0.25-mu m CMOS technology show less than 0.4 least significant bit (LSB) and 0.85LSB respectively at full sampling rate. The ADC exhibits higher than 9 effective number of bits (ENOB) for input frequencies up to 60MHz, which is the fourfold Nyquist rate (fs/2), at 30 MS/s. The ADC consumes 60 mW from a 3-V supply and occupies 1.36 mm(2).

Abstract:At present, fast waveform digitizing circuit is more and more employed in modern physics experiments for processing the signals from an array detector. A new fast waveform sampling digitizing circuit developed by us is presented in this paper. Different with the traditional waveform digitizing circuit constructed with analog to digital converter(ADC) or time to digital converter(TDC), it is developed based on domino ring sampler(DRS), a switched capacitor array(SCA) chip. A DRS4 chip is used as a core device in our circuit, which has a fast sampling rate up to five gigabit samples per second (GSPS). The circuit has advantages of high resolution, low cost, low power dissipation, high channel density and small size. The quite satisfactory results are acquired by the preliminary performance test of this circuit board. Eight channels can be provided by one board, which has a 1-volt input dynamic range for each channel. The circuit linearity is better than 0.1%, the noise is less than 0.5 mV (root mean square, RMS), and its time resolution is about 50ps. The several boards can be cascaded to construct a multi-board system. The good performances make the circuit board to be used not only for physics experiments, but also for other applications.

Abstract:An 18-bit 48 kHz Δ-Σ D/A converter for digital audio application is designed.For the interpolator,multiplier-free and time division multiplex mode are used to reduce the hardware overhead.The Δ-Σ modulator employs a 5~(th)-order 1-bit quantization loop,and a 100 dB in-band SNR was achieved on FPGA platform.The post switched capacitor(SC) filter was implemented in CSMC's 0.6 μm CMOS process.The core chip occupies an area of 1.73 mm×1.11 mm,and it consumes less than 22 mW of power from a single 5 V supply voltage.
