Abstract:This paper analyzes the furnace structure and temperature curve of regenerative reheating furnace. Based on the heat radiation and conduction analysis, a billet temperature prediction model by two-dimension unsteady heat conduction method is designed. Strategy of furnace temperature optimal setting and system structure of furnace temperature control based on this model are also presented. The model has high precision, universal fitting and can meet the requirement of on-line predication of the billet temperature. Moreover, simulations show that the optimal setting of furnace temperature can greatly improve the billets heat quality.

Abstract:Predictive functional control of outlet temperature in delayed coking furnace is designed with transparent control structure.Feedforward compensation is used to eliminate the influence of the measurable disturbance on outlet temperature.The results of practical industry application show that the designed advanced control system has more excellent tracing ability and strong robust performance than conventional PID controller for outlet temperature control in delayed coking furnace.

Abstract:Based on a common electrical furnace,and equipped with liquefied gas burners,a new built-up fire furnace that can either heat through automatically electric control or through bowing liquefied gas fire into the furnace is developed.Fire test results indicate that the hybrid heating furnace can heat the test specimens closely following the ISO-834 standard fire curve,and it is of excellent convenience and cost-effectiveness because it combines the merits of electrical heating,such as safe,reliable,highly precise,convenient to control,operational and pollution-proof,with the merits of liquefied gas fire heating,such as heating rapidly,simple to control,and can simulate fire reality.It is proved to be practical fire-resistant heating equipment.

Abstract:For the control of heating furnace thermal efficiency, the key problem is to find the online reliable and effective estimation of thermal efficiency. After analyzing the combustion mechanism deeply, this paper proposes a novel method for the online estimation of thermal efficiency based on temperature only. Based on the soft sensor model, an internal model control system of heating furnace thermal efficiency is given. The field applications show that the control system is accurate and reliable.

Abstract:As the development of the digital imaging technology, it becomes possible to measure the temperature distribution in the furnace of the power plant, using the plane surface array CCD camera. In this paper, due to the radiative transfer equation, we analyze the reconstruction algorithm of reconstructing temperature field based on the flame radiative image. A synthesized non-linear mathematic model is developed to solve the controlling equations. This model combines genetic algorithm in optimization method, which adapts to the reconstruction of the temperature. To validate this model, an experimental system was set up in the boiler of a 300 MW power plant. The temperature distribution in the boiler is calculated according to this model. The experimental result indicates the convenience and accuracy of this algorithm.

Abstract:Precise knowledge of the heat transfer in a reheating furnace is important for optimizing the slab production process. In the present work, a new comprehensive CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) model for simulating the gas flow, combustion and heat transfer in a roller-hearth reheating furnace with radiant tubes was developed. In the model, the slab dynamic heating process was performed based on the steady-state gas phase combustion in the furnace. The movement of slabs in the furnace was achieved by dynamic mesh. The radiant tubes and the furnace were coupled into a whole and the indirect heat transfer in the furnace was achieved by radiant tubes. The slab temperature predicted by the model showed a good agreement with the experimental results through the validation of “Black Box”. According to the simulation results, the temperature field in the furnace and the slab heating process were reasonably evaluated. Compared with the heating process with the slab residence time of 60min in actual production, the new heating process was determined by the simulating time for the whole slab reaching the austenitizing temperature and the holding time, and the slab residence time is 67min.

Abstract:An optimal switching heating control strategy based on minimum margin (OS-MM) is proposed for high efficiency, low energy consumption, and high-uniformity fine control in a large-scale vertical quench furnace. This work was stimulated by the need for solving the contradiction between the heating rate and temperature overshoot to achieve a rapid rise in temperature with no overshoot. Based on a three-dimensional (3-D) transient temperature field model of the quenching furnace, the temperature field optimization control problem is transformed into a boundary optimization control problem of rapid heating, whereby it is rigorously proved that the fastest rise in temperature is attained by the full-power heating, which satisfies the bang-bang characteristics. The key parameter that determines the overshoot in the full-power heating mode is introduced and defined as the minimum margin in the temperature-rising process. The analytical expression for solving the minimum margin is calculated by the eigenfunction expansion method and using the strong metal thermal inertia of the internal temperature field, the OS-MM method is designed to stop the heating in advance at a calculated switching point to optimize full-power heating, thus conserving energy by reducing its consumption. The results of simulation and industrial experiments show that this strategy greatly shortens the temperature adjusting time, significantly reduces energy consumption, and effectively improves the control performance indices, such as overshoot and static error in the temperature holding period of the thermal treatment process, as compared to the existing heating methods.

Abstract:Abstract The welding quality of reflow welding is closely related to the setting of furnace temperature curve. Based on the law of heat transfer between heat transfer conduction and heat ionization in the process of reflow welding, the mathematical model of PCB plate heat transfer process is established based on the relationship between conveyor belt transfer speed, temperature of each temperature zone and minimum equivalent heat stress in the process of reflow welding, and the optimization model of furnace temperature curve is established with the minimum heating factor and minimum equivalent thermal stress as the optimization target. At the same time, the simulation analysis of stress strain before and after optimization is carried out by finite meta-method, and the results show that the iso-effect force after optimization is reduced by 6.5%, the warp deformation degree of the corner is also reduced to a certain extent, and the maximum iso-effect variable is reduced by 5%. The results provide reference and basis for the improvement of reflow welding process.

Abstract:A modeling and optimization based control scheme is proposed to improve the wafer temperature uniformity in MOCVD reactor chamber.A neural network based temperature model is established by modeling the relation between the heating power and the corresponding wafer temperature.Taking the temperature uniformity as the performance index,the heating power ratio is optimized by employing the bionic optimization algorithm and the obtained temperature model.The temperature uniformity control is thus performed in real time by constantly modifying the heating power ratio.Experiments results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract:To deal with the large time delay of the object under boiler combustion control,the combustion control system optimization scheme based on radiant energy signal is put forward: the infrared radiant energy signal which can quickly reveal the heat within the furnace is used as the ahead feedback value and imported to the DCS,then the vibration of the main steam pressure and flow caused by disturbance on the fuel side can be overcome to ensure the stable operation of the steam turbine.The load response capability of the unit can be improved through combustion optimization realized by closed loop control.

Abstract:In steel industry, reheating furnaces are the biggest energy consumers after the blast furnace. The purpose of a slab reheating furnace is to heat steel slabs to a suitable temperature profile (around 1250°C) before entering to hot rolling phase. The reheating furnace is divided in zones, each zone being controlled independently. In this paper, a model considering the coupling effect between zones is proposed and identified. This model is afterwards used in a distributed model predictive control strategy (DMPC). The experimental results in industrial plant show an energy saving of about 3% while maintaining the heating quality of products. In addition to energy saving, industrial online measurements showed more stable furnace performance, especially in transient (oxygen level, pressure, global air/gas supply).

Abstract:Abstract How to adjust the temperature zone temperature and furnace speed parameters to optimize the furnace temperature curve, so as to improve the product quality is the main problem faced by the temperature curve optimization of the reflow furnace. In this paper, the heat transfer model is established by the heat convection and heat conduction equations, and the mechanism of temperature change in the welding area is analyzed. Then, by gradually determining the objective function and comprehensively establishing the optimization model according to the known conditions, the optimal parameters are solved, so as to solve the optimization problem of furnace temperature curve. According to Newton’s cooling law, specific heat theorem and Laplace equation, the temperature function of the center of the welding zone is deduced and solved, and the analytic function model of the temperature change in the center of the welding area can be obtained by synthesizing the inherent size conditions of the reflow furnace. Taking the corresponding data of experimental temperature and time as the fitting data, the undetermined parameters of the model were solved by nonlinear least square fitting method and undetermined coefficient method. The square sum of fitting residuals is 5857.7, which proves that the model has good fitting effect. Using the new experimental data to solve the model, the temperature change of the welding center at each position and time in the reflow furnace is analyzed. The temperature in the center of the welding area at the middle point of the low temperature zone 3, 6, 7 and the end of the small temperature zone 8 is 143.81°C, 181.78°C, 201.33°C, 228.97°C, respectively.

Abstract:The total heat exchange factor is one of the most important thermal physical parameters in the heat transfer model for a reheating furnace machine. In this paper, a novel general strategy, which is combined with the first-optimize-then-discretize (FOTD) approach and an improved hybrid conjugate gradient (IHCG) algorithm, is proposed to identify the total heat exchange factor by solving a nonlinear inverse heat conduction problem (IHCP). Firstly, a nonlinear IHCP with the Dirichlet-type boundary condition Tm(t)=T(0,t) is built to determine the unknown total heat exchange factor w(t). Secondly, the analysis of the Fréchet gradient of the cost functional is given and the gradient is proved as Lipschitz continuous by the FOTD approach. Thirdly, based on the gradient information by FOTD, a new IHCG algorithm, whose global convergence is proved by us, is proposed for fast solving of the optimization problem. Finally, simulation experiments are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. Compared with the first-discretize-then-optimize (FDTO) approach, the FOTD approach can reduce running time and iteration number. Compared with other CG algorithms, the proposed IHCG algorithm has better convergence performance. The experimental data by the thermocouples experiments from a reheating furnace are also given to identify the total heat exchange factor.

Abstract:Thermal efficiency optimization is a difficult problem. There does not exist an effective strategy for the furnace in which load changes frequently and fuel property is unknown. In this paper, a method, based on historical data of furnace, is proposed for establishing the steady-state relation model. The method gives the steady-state relation model of the heat load and the oxygen content in flue gas with the optimal thermal efficiency by an adaptive hinging hyperplanes(AHH)model. By combining the control of flue-gas-air system, the method gets the state of the furnace transferred to historical optimal rapidly. Moreover, it provides a feasible basis for realization of long-term stable and efficient operation and implementation of thermal efficiency optimization.

Abstract:Abstract After referring to many documents, this article comprehensively considers various heat transfer methods, analyzes the heat transfer process of welded components, and establishes a temperature field distribution model based on one-dimensional transient heat transfer equation by ignoring some irrelevant conditions, and useing the finite difference method. We solve it and apply it to the optimization of furnace temperature curve. Due to the many types of reflow furnaces, this article mainly considers hot-air reflow furnaces. The heating methods are mainly heat convection and heat conduction, ignoring heat radiation. The welding area is established by the transient heat transfer equation. The temperature field distribution model is established, and the initial conditions and thermal boundary conditions are determined. Related heat transfer analysis is done for the front area, back area and gap areas. Finally, through the experimental data and the idea of least squares, the parameters of the electronic devices used in this experiment are obtained, and it also provides an idea to check whether the relevant parameters of the experimental materials are accurate. In order to make it easier for the staff to operate, this article proposes a method to find the maximum speed of conveyor belt, which has great practical significance.

Abstract:Reheating furnaces are used to uniformly heat billets (blooms, billets, or slabs) to between 1000°C and 1300°C before hot rolling. Cascade control is widely used in temperature controllers of the reheating furnace. Unfortunately, the relationship between temperature indicator controllers (TIC) and flow indicator controllers (FIC) usually changes with a single slope. It means that temperature load disturbances cannot be effectively resolved. In this study, the relationship between TIC and FIC is proposed to be nonlinear with multiple slopes, which is used to accelerate the temperature response and increase the temperature stability under high or low load conditions. The temperature controller parameters are more diverse, so this study optimizes the temperature controller parameters and determines the characteristic curves between TIC and FIC effectively and quickly by using the Taguchi method. The performance of the multi-slope method and the single-slope method is evaluated in an actual heating furnace. The experimental results show that the proposed method in this study improves the mean square error and standard deviation by 33.76% and 22.44%, respectively. After commissioning, the parameter combination (including the characteristic curve) has a remarkable performance in the heating zone, which can be used to reduce temperature disturbance, accelerate the temperature response, and increase temperature stability in the reheating furnace.

A Novel Comprehensive Solution For Furnace Integrating Outlet Parametric Variable Control And Online Thermal Efficiency Optimization

Abstract:Due to the frequent changes of the thermal load, severe nonlinearity in flue gas-air system actuator, fluctuations in fuel pressure and combustion heat, and field oxygen sensor drift, current controllers do not work well in the long term, and meanwhile the thermal efficiency optimization is hard to be practicable. To circumvent these difficulties, we propose a novel comprehensive solution integrating furnace outlet parametric variable control and thermal efficiency optimization. Firstly, the set point for the manipulated variable, fuel flow, is quickly determined when confronted with thermal load demand changes based on the forward computation introduced by the thermal balance equation. Then, the unmeasured disturbances, such as fuel combustion heat, specific heat of feed and so on, are merged into a new ratio variable. The outlet controlled variable (e.g. temperature, steam pressure and vaporization rate) is finely tuned based on the input-output predictive model between the ratio variable and outlet controlled variable. The regulating mechanism of the proposed control system guarantees that the control system can realize free of maintenance and long term operation. Furthermore, we propose a maintenance-free thermal efficiency optimization framework integrating the multi-region specific optimal reference points and online self-optimization to adapt the change of the optimal oxygen concentration with primarily thermal load and the measured value drift of field oxygen sensor. Finally, the results from both simulation case study and field application are exhibited to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
