Abstract:In this paper we study a contracting flow of closed, convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space ℝ^n+1 with speed f r^α K, where K is the Gauss curvature, r is the distance from the hypersurface to the origin, and f is a positive and smooth function. If α≥ n+1, we prove that the flow exists for all time and converges smoothly after normalisation to a soliton, which is a sphere centred at the origin if f ≡ 1. Our argument provides a parabolic proof in the smooth category for the classical Aleksandrov problem, and resolves the dual q-Minkowski problem introduced by Huang, Lutwak, Yang and Zhang (Acta Math. 216 (2016): 325-388), for the case q<0. If α < n+1, corresponding to the case q>0, we also establish the same results for even function f and origin-symmetric initial condition, but for non-symmetric f, counterexample is given for the above smooth convergence.
Regularity and Singularity in the Mean Curvature Flow ∗

Abstract:In this paper we study the regularity and singularity of the mean curvature flow of closed, smooth, embedded hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space with positive mean curvature, with an attempt to understand the geometry of first time singularities. First we consider the mean curvature flow of graphs and convex hypersurfaces. Then we consider the special blow-up solutions at the maximal mean curvature points and obtain self-similar solutions at type I singularities and translating solutions at type II singularities. Finally we show that a general blow-up sequence converges along a subsequence to a convex limit flow, and give a classification of ancient convex solutions. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 53C44, 53A10, 35J60.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of various harmonic maps from Hermitian manifolds to Kaehler, Hermitian and Riemannian manifolds respectively. By using refined Bochner formulas on Hermitian (possibly non-Kaehler) manifolds, we derive new rigidity results on Hermitian harmonic maps from compact Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds, and we also obtain the complex analyticity of pluri-harmonic maps from compact complex manifolds to compact Kaehler manifolds (and Riemannian manifolds) with non-degenerate curvatures, which are analogous to several fundamental results in [28,Siu], [14,Jost-Yau] and [26, Sampson].

Abstract:By simplifying the first and the second variation formulas of the energy functional and generalizing the Weitzenbock formula, we study the stability and the rigidity of harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds. It is proved that any nondegenerate harmonic map from a compact Einstein Riemannian manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature to a Berwald manifold with nonpositive flag curvature is totally geodesic and there is no nondegenerate stable harmonic map from a Riemannian unit sphere S-n (n > 2) to any Finsler manifold.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate the rigidity of ancient solutions of the mean curvature flow with arbitrary codimension in space forms. We first prove that under certain sharp asymptotic pointwise curvature pinching condition the ancient solution in a sphere is either a shrinking spherical cap or a totally geodesic sphere. Then we show that under certain pointwise curvature pinching condition the ancient solution in a hyperbolic space is a family of shrinking spheres. We also obtain a rigidity result for ancient solutions in a nonnegatively curved space form under an asymptotic integral curvature pinching condition.

Abstract:Under the hypothesis of mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces, we prove that the limit of the smooth rescaling of the singularity is weakly convex. It is a generalization of the result due to G. Huisken and C. Sinestrari in [5]. These a-priori bounds are satisfied for mean convex hypersurfaces in locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Abstract:This paper is to study further some properties of harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds. Some rigidity theorems for harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds are given. By introducing the stress-energy tensor of maps between Finsler manifolds, some integral formulas are obtained. Moreover, it is proved that any conformal strongly harmonic map from an n(>2)-dimensional Finsler manifold to a Finsler manifold must be homothetic.

Abstract:: We prove a rigidity theorem for a space-like graph with parallel mean curvature of arbitrary dimension and codimension in pseudo-Euclidean space via properties of its harmonic Gauss map. We also give an estimate of the squared norm of the second fundamental form in terms of the mean curvature and the image diameter under the Gauss map for space-like submanifolds with parallel mean curvature in pseudo-Euclidean space. The estimate also implies the former theorem.

Abstract:Motivated by a question of Tsai-Tsui-Wang, we consider the rigidity of map from manifolds with positive Ricci curvature to manifolds with positive sectional curvature. We show that if the Ricci curvature of the domain dominates that of the target, then distance non-increasing maps must be either Riemannian submersion or isometry. The rigidity result also holds on a wider class of manifolds with positive curvature and weaker contracting property on the map. This is based on a new long-time existence of harmonic map heat flow.

Abstract:We employ the harmonic mean curvature flow of strictly convex closed hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space to prove Alexandrov-Fenchel type inequalities relating quermassintegrals to the total curvature, which is the integral of Gaussian curvature on the hypersurface. The resulting inequality allows us to use the inverse mean curvature flow to prove Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities between the total curvature and the area for strictly convex hypersurfaces. Finally, we apply the harmonic mean curvature flow to prove a new class of geometric inequalities for h-convex hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space.

Abstract:In this paper, the mean curvature flow of complete submanifolds in Euclidean space with convex Gauss image and bounded curvature is studied. The confinable property of the Gauss image under the mean curvature flow is proved, which in turn helps one to obtain the curvature estimates. Then the author proves a long time existence result. The asymptotic behavior of these solutions when t → ∞ is also studied.

Abstract:In this survey, we will focus on the mean curvature flow theory with sphere theorems, and discuss the recent developments on the convergence theorems for the mean curvature flow of arbitrary codimension inspired by the Yau rigidity theory of submanifolds. Several new differentiable sphere theorems for submanifolds are obtained as consequences of the convergence theorems for the mean curvature flow. It should be emphasized that Theorem 4.1 is an optimal convergence theorem for the mean curvature flow of arbitrary codimension, which implies the first optimal differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds with positive Ricci curvature. Finally, we present a list of unsolved problems in this area.

Abstract:We show that the set of harmonic maps from the 2-dimensional stratified spheres with uniformly bounded energies contains only finitely many homotopy classes. We apply this result to construct infinitely many harmonic map flows and mean curvature flows of 2-sphere in the connected sum of two closed 3-dimensional manifolds M1≠S3 and M2≠S3,RP3, which must develop finite time singularity.

Recently, Akman and Mukherjee [1] studied the Minkowski problem corresponding to $p$-harmonic measures on convex domains and generalized Jerison's results. In this paper, we prove the existence of the smooth solution to the Minkowski problem for the $p$-harmonic measure by method of the Gauss curvature flow.

Abstract:In this paper, we first give some new characterizations of geodesic spheres in the hyperbolic space by the condition that hypersurface has constant weighted shifted mean curvatures, or constant weighted shifted mean curvature ratio, which generalize the result of Hu-Wei-Zhou \cite{HWZ23}. Secondly, we investigate several rigidity problems for hypersurfaces in the hyperbolic space with constant linear combinations of weighted shifted mean curvatures as well as radially symmetric shifted mean curvatures. As applications, we obtain the rigidity results for hypersurfaces with constant linear combinations of mean curvatures in a general form and constant Gauss-Bonnet curvature $L_k$ under weaker conditions, which extend the work of the third author and Xia \cite{WX14}.
