Abstract:In this paper we investigate the rigidity of ancient solutions of the mean curvature flow with arbitrary codimension in space forms. We first prove that under certain sharp asymptotic pointwise curvature pinching condition the ancient solution in a sphere is either a shrinking spherical cap or a totally geodesic sphere. Then we show that under certain pointwise curvature pinching condition the ancient solution in a hyperbolic space is a family of shrinking spheres. We also obtain a rigidity result for ancient solutions in a nonnegatively curved space form under an asymptotic integral curvature pinching condition.

Abstract:We prove a Bernstein type theorem for ancient solutions to the mean curvature flow in higher codimension. Abstract:In this paper we study the regularity and singularity of the mean curvature flow of closed, smooth, embedded hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space with positive mean curvature, with an attempt to understand the geometry of first time singularities. First we consider the mean curvature flow of graphs and convex hypersurfaces. Then we consider the special blow-up solutions at the maximal mean curvature points and obtain self-similar solutions at type I singularities and translating solutions at type II singularities. Finally we show that a general blow-up sequence converges along a subsequence to a convex limit flow, and give a classification of ancient convex solutions. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 53C44, 53A10, 35J60.

Abstract:Under the hypothesis of mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces, we prove that the limit of the smooth rescaling of the singularity is weakly convex. It is a generalization of the result due to G. Huisken and C. Sinestrari in [5]. These a-priori bounds are satisfied for mean convex hypersurfaces in locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form of M, respectively. We obtain a classification theorem of M if it satisfies $S+\lambda _2\le \alpha (n,H)$, where $\lambda _{2}$ is the second largest eigenvalue of the fundamental matrix and $\alpha (n,H)$ is defined as in Theorem B.

Abstract:Recently, Pipoli and Sinestrari [Pipoli, G. and Sinestrari, C., Mean curvature flow of pinched submanifolds of ℝℙ n , Comm. Anal. Geom. , 25 , 2017, 799–846] initiated the study of convergence problem for the mean curvature flow of small codimension in the complex projective space ℝℙ m . The purpose of this paper is to develop the work due to Pipoli and Sinestrari, and verify a new convergence theorem for the mean curvature flow of arbitrary codimension in the complex projective space. Namely, the authors prove that if the initial submanifold in ℝℙ m satisfies a suitable pinching condition, then the mean curvature flow converges to a round point in finite time, or converges to a totally geodesic submanifold as t → ∞. Consequently, they obtain a differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds in the complex projective space.

Abstract:In this paper we consider closed non-collapsed ancient solutions to the mean curvature flow ($n \ge 2$) which are uniformly two-convex. We prove that any two such ancient solutions are the same up to translations and scaling. In particular, they must coincide up to translations and scaling with the rotationally symmetric closed ancient non-collapsed solution constructed by Brian White in (2000), and by Robert Haslhofer and Or Hershkovits in (2016).

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the rigidity of Q-curvature. Specifically, we consider a closed, oriented $n$-dimensional ($n\geq6$) Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ and prove the following results under the condition $\int_{M} \nabla R\cdot\nabla \mathrm{Q}\mathrm{d} V_g\leq0$. (1) If $(M,g)$ is locally conformally flat with nonnegative Ricci curvature, then $(M,g)$ is isometric to a quotient of $\mathbb{R}^n$, $\mathbb{S}^n$, or $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$. (2) If $(M,g)$ has $\delta^2 W=0$ with nonnegative sectional curvature, then $(M,g)$ is isometric to a quotient of the product of Einstein manifolds. Additionally, we investigate some rigidity theorems involving Q-curvature about hypersurfaces in simply-connected space forms. We also show the uniqueness of metrics with constant scalar curvature and constant Q-curvature in a fixed conformal class.

Abstract:We construct an $I$-family of ancient graphical mean curvature flows over a minimal hypersurface in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ of finite total curvature with the Morse index $I$ by establishing exponentially fast convergence in terms of $|x|^2-t$. As a corollary, we show that these ancient flows have finite total curvature and finite mass drop. Moreover, one family of these flows is mean convex by a pointwise estimate.

Abstract:We show existence of ancient solutions to the rescaled mean curvature flow starting from a given asymptotically conical self-expander. These are examples of mean curvature flows coming out of cones that are not self-similar. We also show a strong uniqueness theorem when the cone is generic and use it to classify mean curvature flows coming out of generic cones of small entropy in low dimensions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation on compact Kähler manifold with non-negative orthogonal bisectional curvature. We prove that the curvatures of deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills metrics are parallel with respect to the background metric if there exists a positive constant C such that $$\begin{aligned} -\frac{1}{C}\omega<\sqrt{-1}F<C\omega . \end{aligned}$$ We also consider the self-shrinker over $$\mathbb {C}^n$$ to the corresponding parabolic flow. We prove that the self-shrinker over $${\mathbb {C}}^n$$ is a quadratic polynomial function. At last, we show a similar rigidity theorem for the J-equations and the self-shrinkers over $${\mathbb {C}}^n$$ to J-flow.

Abstract:We consider the evolution of hypersurfaces on the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n+1}$ by smooth functions of the Weingarten map. We introduce the notion of `quasi-ancient' solutions for flows that do not admit non-trivial, convex, ancient solutions. Such solutions are somewhat analogous to ancient solutions for flows such as the mean curvature flow, or 1-homogeneous flows. The techniques presented here allow us to prove that any convex, quasi-ancient solution of a curvature flow which satisfies a backwards in time uniform bound on mean curvature must be stationary or a family of shrinking geodesic spheres. The main tools are geometric, employing the maximum principle, a rigidity result in the sphere and an Alexandrov reflection argument. We emphasize that no homogeneity or convexity/concavity restrictions are placed on the speed, though we do also offer a short classification proof for several such restricted cases.

Abstract:We establish new mean curvature rigidity theorems of spin fill-ins with non-negative scalar curvature using two different spinorial techniques. Our results address two questions by Miao and Gromov, respectively. The first technique is based on extending boundary spinors satisfying a generalized eigenvalue equation via the Fredholm alternative for an APS boundary value problem, while the second is a comparison result in the spirit of Llarull and Lott using index theory. We also show that the latter implies a new Witten-type integral inequality for the mass of an asymptotically Schwarzschild manifold which holds even when the scalar curvature is not assumed to be non-negative.

Abstract:Bounds of total curvature and entropy are two common conditions placed on mean curvature flows. We show that these two hypotheses are equivalent for the class of ancient complete embedded smooth planar curve shortening flows, which are one-dimensional mean curvature flows. As an application, we give a short proof of the uniqueness of tangent flow at infinity of an ancient smooth complete non-compact curve shortening flow with finite entropy embedded in $\mathbb{R}^2$.
