Abstract:In this paper, we generalize the Bochner-Kodaira formulas to the case of Hermitian complex (possibly non-holomorphic) vector bundles over compact Hermitian (possibly non-Kähler) manifolds. As applications, we get the complex analyticity of harmonic maps between compact Hermitian manifolds.

Abstract:In this paper we study the stability of harmonic maps on Finsler manifolds by an extrinsic average variational method in the calculus of variations. Some nonexistence results of nonconstant stable harmonic maps on compact Finsler manifolds are obtained, and the homotopy classes of maps on Finsler manifolds are discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of various harmonic maps from Hermitian manifolds to Kaehler, Hermitian and Riemannian manifolds respectively. By using refined Bochner formulas on Hermitian (possibly non-Kaehler) manifolds, we derive new rigidity results on Hermitian harmonic maps from compact Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds, and we also obtain the complex analyticity of pluri-harmonic maps from compact complex manifolds to compact Kaehler manifolds (and Riemannian manifolds) with non-degenerate curvatures, which are analogous to several fundamental results in [28,Siu], [14,Jost-Yau] and [26, Sampson].

Abstract:In this paper, we studied the regularity problem for harmonic maps into hyperbolic spaces with prescribed singularities along codimension two submanifolds. This is motivated from one of Hawking's conjectures on the uniqueness of Kerr solutions among all axially symmetric asymptotically flat stationary solutions to the vacuum Einstein equation in general relativity.

Abstract:By simplifying the first and the second variation formulas of the energy functional and generalizing the Weitzenbock formula, we study the stability and the rigidity of harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds. It is proved that any nondegenerate harmonic map from a compact Einstein Riemannian manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature to a Berwald manifold with nonpositive flag curvature is totally geodesic and there is no nondegenerate stable harmonic map from a Riemannian unit sphere S-n (n > 2) to any Finsler manifold.

Abstract:This paper is to study further some properties of harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds. Some rigidity theorems for harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds are given. By introducing the stress-energy tensor of maps between Finsler manifolds, some integral formulas are obtained. Moreover, it is proved that any conformal strongly harmonic map from an n(>2)-dimensional Finsler manifold to a Finsler manifold must be homothetic.

Abstract:We determine regularity results for energy minimizing maps from an n-dimensional Riemannian polyhedral complex X into a CAT(1) space. Provided that the metric on X is Lipschitz regular, we prove Hölder regularity with Hölder constant and exponent dependent on the total energy of the map and the metric on the domain. Moreover, at points away from the (n-2)-skeleton, we improve the regularity to locally Lipschitz. Finally, for points x ∈ X^(k) with k ≤ n-2, we demonstrate that the Hölder exponent depends on geometric and combinatorial data of the link of x ∈ X.

Abstract:We show the regularity of, and derive a-priori estimates for (weakly) harmonic maps from a Riemannian manifold into a Euclidean sphere under the assumption that the image avoids some neighborhood of a half-equator. The proofs combine constructions of strictly convex functions and the regularity theory of quasi-linear elliptic systems. We apply these results to the spherical and Euclidean Bernstein problems for minimal hypersurfaces, obtaining new conditions under which compact minimal hypersurfaces in spheres or complete minimal hypersurfaces in Euclidean spaces are trivial.

Abstract:We prove the local Lipschitz continuity of sub-elliptic harmonic maps between certain singular spaces, more specifically from the $n$-dimensional Heisenberg group into $CAT(0)$ spaces. Our main theorem establishes that these maps have the desired Lipschitz regularity, extending the Hölder regularity in this setting proven by Y. Gui et. al and obtaining same regularity as in the work of H-C. Zhang and X-P. Zhu for certain sub-Riemannian geometries, see also the works of A. Mondino and D. Semola, as well as N. Gigli, for generalisations to RCD spaces. The present result paves the way for a general regularity theory of sub-elliptic harmonic maps, providing a versatile approach applicable beyond the Heisenberg group.

Abstract:In this work we are going to establish Hölder continuity of harmonic maps from an open set $\Omega$ in an ${\rm RCD}(K,N)$ space valued into a ${\rm CAT}(\kappa)$ space, with the constraint that the image of $\Omega$ via the map is contained in a sufficiently small ball in the target. Building on top of this regularity and assuming a local Lipschitz regularity of the map, we establish a weak version of the Bochner-Eells-Sampson inequality in such a non-smooth setting. Finally we study the boundary regularity of such maps.

Abstract:Let $\varphi\in C^0 \cap W^{1,2}(\Sigma, X)$ where $\Sigma$ is a compact Riemann surface, $X$ is a compact locally CAT(1) space, and $W^{1,2}(\Sigma,X)$ is defined as in Korevaar-Schoen. We use the technique of harmonic replacement to prove that either there exists a harmonic map $u:\Sigma \to X$ homotopic to $\varphi$ or there exists a conformal harmonic map $v:\mathbb S^2 \to X$. To complete the argument, we prove compactness for energy minimizers and a removable singularity theorem for conformal harmonic maps.
