Abstract:We construct the Darboux transformations, exact solutions, and infinite number of conservation laws for a semidiscrete Gardner equation. A special class of solutions of the semidiscrete equation, called table-top solitons, are given. The dynamical properties of these solutions are also discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate positive solutions of the degenerate parabolic equation not in divergence form: ut=upΔu+auq−bur, subject to the null Dirichlet boundary condition. We at first discuss the existence and nonexistence of global solutions to the problem, and then study the large time behavior for the global solutions. When the positive source dominates the model, we prove that the global solutions uniformly tend to the positive steady state of the problem as t→∞. In particular, we establish the uniform asymptotic profiles for the decay solutions when the problem is governed by the nonlinear diffusion or absorption.

Abstract:In this work we study a generalized variable-coefficient Gardner equation from the point of view of Lie symmetries in partial differential equations. We find conservation laws by using the multipliers method of Anco and Bluman which does not require the use of a variational principle. We also construct conservation laws using Ibragimov theorem which is based on the concept of adjoint equation for nonlinear differential equations.

Abstract:A semidiscrete Boussinesq system has been introduced by the means of recombination flows from a 4×4 spectral problem. We construct the Darboux transformation and explicit solutions for the semidiscrete Boussinesq system. We can find that the 1-fold Darboux-transformation solution of the system possesses more than one traveling waves. Especially, one of solutions comes into being two solitary waves after a period of time, which means that properties of solutions to semidiscrete integrable systems are richer than the ones in continuous integrable systems.

Abstract:Using a scaling symmetry, it is shown how to compute polynomial conservation laws, generalized symmetries, recursion operators, Lax pairs, and bilinear forms of polynomial nonlinear partial differential equations thereby establishing their complete integrability. The Gardner equation is chosen as the key example for it comprises both the Korteweg-de Vries and modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equations. The Gardner and Miura transformations which connect these equations are also computed using the concept of scaling homogeneity. Exact solitary wave solutions and solitons of the Gardner equation are derived using Hirota's method and other direct methods. The nature of these solutions depends on the sign of the cubic term in the Gardner equation and the underlying mKdV equation. It is shown that flat (table-top) waves of large amplitude only occur when the sign of the cubic nonlinearity is negative (defocusing case) whereas the focusing Gardner equation has the standard elastically colliding solitons. The paper's aim is to provide a review of integrability properties and solutions of the Gardner equation and illustrate the applicability of the scaling symmetry approach. The methods and algorithms used in this paper have been implemented in Mathematica but can be adapted for major computer algebra systems.

Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena

Abstract:Through the application of the deformation algorithm, a novel (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation and its associated Lax pair are derived from the (1+1)-dimensional Gardner equation and its conservation laws. As soon as the (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation is set to be $y$ or $z$ independent, the Gardner equations in (2+1)-dimension are also obtained. To seek the exact solutions for these higher dimensional equations, the traveling wave method and the symmetry theory are introduced. Hence, the implicit expressions of traveling wave solutions to the (3+1)-dimensional and (2+1)-dimensional Gardner equations, the Lie point symmetry and the group invariant solutions to the (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation are well investigated. In particular, after selecting some specific parameters, both the traveling wave solutions and the symmetry reduction solutions of hyperbolic function form are given.

Abstract:In this paper, a semi-discrete matrix coupled dispersionless system is presented. A Lax pair is proposed, and the Darboux transformation is employed to construct exact solutions to the semi-discrete matrix coupled dispersionless system. These solutions numerically exhibit a variety of exact phenomena, including periodic patterns, breathers, rogue waves, and bright and dark solitons.

Abstract:In this paper, we apply the method of approximate transformation groups proposed by Baikov, Gaziziv and Ibragimov, to compute the first-order approximate symmetry for the Gardner equations with the small parameters. We compute the optimal system and analyze some invariant solutions of These types of equations. Particularly, general forms of approximately Galilean-invariant solutions have been computed.

Abstract:In this paper we study the generalized variable-coefficient Gardner equations of the form $u_t + A(t)u^n\,u_x+ C(t)\,u^{2n}u_x + B(t)\,u_{xxx} + Q(t)\,u =0$. This class broadens out many other equations previously considered: Johnpillai and Khalique (2010), Molati and Ramollo (2012) and Vaneeva, Kuriksha and Sophocleous (2015). Equivalence group of the class under consideration has been constructed which permit an exhaustive study and a simple and clear formulation of the results. Some conservation laws are derived for the nonlinearly self-adjoint equations, based on differential substitutions, and by using the direct method of the multipliers.

Abstract:To get more insight into the relation between discrete model and continuous counterpart, a new integrable semi-discrete Kundu–Eckhaus equation is derived from the reduction in an extended Ablowitz–Ladik hierarchy. The integrability of the semi-discrete model is confirmed by showing the existence of Lax pair and infinite number of conservation laws. The dynamic characteristics of the breather and rational solutions have been analyzed in detail for our semi-discrete Kundu–Eckhaus equation to reveal some new interesting phenomena which was not found in continuous one. It is shown that the theory of the discrete system including Lax pair, Darboux transformation and explicit solutions systematically yields their continuous counterparts in the continuous limit.

Abstract:In this work, the well-known Gardner equation is converted into a coupled system of nonlinear partial differential equations and a modified cubic B-spline collocation method has been applied to find its numerical solution. Time discretization and linearization of Gardner equation has been carried out using Crank–Nicolson method and quasi-linearization respectively. A linear system of algebraic equations is obtained which is found to be unconditionally stable by Von Neumann analysis. Numerical investigations are performed on the Gardner equation subjected to homogeous boundary conditions in different situations such as propagation of initial positive pulse and kink like wave, propagation and interaction of two solitons, wave production from a single soliton, evolution of non-propagating solitons. The results obtained are compared with those available in the literature and are found to be better. The conserved quantities are also computed to show that the conservation laws are preserved as expected from the theoretical aspect. Numerical results demonstrate the accuracy and validity of the present method which can be further applied to solve other nonlinear problems.

Abstract:The Sasa-Satsuma equation, a higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation, is an important integrable equation, which displays the propagation of femtosecond pulses in optical fibers. In this paper, we investigate a generalized Sasa-Satsuma(gSS) equation. The Darboux transformation(DT) for the focusing and defocusing gSS equation is constructed. By using the DT, various of soliton solutions for the generalized Sasa-Satsuma equation are derived, including hump-type, breather-type and periodic soliton. Dynamics properties and asymptotic behavior of these soliton solutions are analyzed. Infinite number conservation laws and conserved quantities for the gSS equation are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we firstly establish infinitely many conservation laws of the 3-coupled integrable lattice equations by using the Riccati method. Comparing with the results obtained by Sahadevan and Balakrishnan, we not only get infinite conserved densities of the polynomial form, but also some conserved densities of logarithmic form. Secondly, Darboux transformation for the system is derived with the help of the Lax pair and gauge transformation. Finally, we obtain the exact solutions of the system with the obtained Darboux transformation, and present the soliton solutions and their figures with properly parameters.

Abstract:In this paper, the singularly perturbed modified Gardner equation is considered. Firstly, for the unperturbed equation, under certain parameter conditions, we obtain the exact expressions of kink wave solution and antikink wave solution by using the bifurcation method of dynamical systems. Then, the persistence of the kink and antikink wave solutions of the perturbed modified Gardner equation is studied by exploiting the geometric singular perturbation theory and the Melnikov function method. When the perturbation parameter is sufficiently small, we obtain the sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of kink and antikink wave solutions.

Abstract:Discussed here is a regularized version of the classical Gardner equation that arises in hydrodynamics and plasma physics. This initial-value problem posed on all of will be considered with bore-like initial data. That is, the initial wave configuration will consist of a moderately smooth function that asymptotes to zero as the spatial variable , but converges to as . Such initial profiles can arise in internal wave propagation, for example. In their idealized versions set on all of , they possess an infinite amount of potential energy. This makes the analysis of the initial-value problem a slightly more subtle than the common situation where the initial profile is assumed to be localized, so being modelled by Sobolev-class initial data.

Abstract:This paper aims to seek soliton solutions for the nonlocal generalized Sasa-Satsuma (gSS) equation by constructing the Darboux transformation (DT). We obtain soliton solutions for the nonlocal gSS equation, including double-periodic wave, breather-like, KM-breather solution, dark-soliton, W-shaped soliton, M-shaped soliton, W-shaped periodic wave, M-shaped periodic wave, double-peak dark-breather, double-peak bright-breather, and M-shaped double-peak breather solutions. Furthermore, interaction of these solitons, as well as their dynamical properties and asymptotic analysis, are analyzed. It will be shown that soliton solutions of the nonlocal gSS equation can be reduced into those of the nonlocal Sasa-Satsuma equation. However, several of these properties for the nonlocal Sasa-Satsuma equation are not found in the literature.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a 6-field integrable lattice system, which, in some special cases, can be reduced to the self-dual network equation, the discrete second-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the relativistic Volterra lattice equation. With the help of the Lax pair, we construct infinitely many conservation laws and a new Darboux transformation for system. Exact solutions resulting from the obtained Darboux transformation are presented by using a given seed solution. Further, we generate the soliton solutions and plot the figures of one-soliton solutions with properly parameters.

Abstract:There are many evolution partial differential equations which can be cast into Hamiltonian form. Conservation laws of these equations are related to one-parameter Hamiltonian symmetries admitted by the PDEs. The same result holds for semidiscrete Hamiltonian equations. In this paper we consider semidiscrete canonical Hamiltonian equations. Using symmetries, we find conservation laws for the semidiscretized nonlinear wave equation and Schrodinger equation.
