Abstract:In this work we study a generalized variable-coefficient Gardner equation from the point of view of Lie symmetries in partial differential equations. We find conservation laws by using the multipliers method of Anco and Bluman which does not require the use of a variational principle. We also construct conservation laws using Ibragimov theorem which is based on the concept of adjoint equation for nonlinear differential equations.

Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena

Abstract:Through the application of the deformation algorithm, a novel (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation and its associated Lax pair are derived from the (1+1)-dimensional Gardner equation and its conservation laws. As soon as the (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation is set to be $y$ or $z$ independent, the Gardner equations in (2+1)-dimension are also obtained. To seek the exact solutions for these higher dimensional equations, the traveling wave method and the symmetry theory are introduced. Hence, the implicit expressions of traveling wave solutions to the (3+1)-dimensional and (2+1)-dimensional Gardner equations, the Lie point symmetry and the group invariant solutions to the (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation are well investigated. In particular, after selecting some specific parameters, both the traveling wave solutions and the symmetry reduction solutions of hyperbolic function form are given.

Abstract:The Lie symmetry analysis is performed on the Heisenberg equation from the statistical physics. Its Lie point symmetries and optimal system of one-dimensional subalgebras are determined. The similarity reductions and invariant solutions are obtained. Using the multipliers, some conservation laws are obtained. We prove that this equation is nonlinearly self-adjoint. Abstract:The symmetries and perturbations of a singular nonconservative Lagrangian system on time scales are studied. The differential equations of motion are given. The definitions and criteria of the Noether, Lie, and Mei symmetries of the system are presented, and the corresponding conserved quantities deduced from these symmetries are obtained. In addition, the perturbations to each symmetry and the corresponding adiabatic invariants were studied. In the end, three examples are used to illustrate the applications of the results.

Abstract:In this paper, we apply the method of approximate transformation groups proposed by Baikov, Gaziziv and Ibragimov, to compute the first-order approximate symmetry for the Gardner equations with the small parameters. We compute the optimal system and analyze some invariant solutions of These types of equations. Particularly, general forms of approximately Galilean-invariant solutions have been computed.

Abstract:A certain non-Noetherian connection between symmetry and integrability properties of nonlinear field equations in conservation-law form is studied. It is shown that the symmetry condition alone may lead, in a rather straightforward way, to the construction of a Lax pair, a doubly infinite set of (generally nonlocal) conservation laws, and a recursion operator for symmetries. Applications include the chiral field equation and the self-dual Yang-Mills equation.

Abstract:In this paper we study the generalized variable-coefficient Gardner equations of the form $u_t + A(t)u^n\,u_x+ C(t)\,u^{2n}u_x + B(t)\,u_{xxx} + Q(t)\,u =0$. This class broadens out many other equations previously considered: Johnpillai and Khalique (2010), Molati and Ramollo (2012) and Vaneeva, Kuriksha and Sophocleous (2015). Equivalence group of the class under consideration has been constructed which permit an exhaustive study and a simple and clear formulation of the results. Some conservation laws are derived for the nonlinearly self-adjoint equations, based on differential substitutions, and by using the direct method of the multipliers.

Abstract:Conservation laws are formulated for systems of differential equations by using symmetries and adjoint symmetries, and an application to systems of evolution equations is made, together with illustrative examples. The formulation does not require the existence of a Lagrangian for a given system, and the presented examples include computations of conserved densities for the heat equation, Burgers' equation and the Korteweg-de Vries equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study the integrability of 1+1 dimensional dispersive long-wave equation. Firstly, the Lie symmetry analysis of the equation is carried out in the first part. And the optimal system of the equation is obtained according to the symmetry, and the invariant solution and the reduced form of the target equation are solved according to the results. Secondly, we use different methods to solve the conservation law of the target equation. To begin with, we give the adjoint determination equation and adjoint symmetry of the 1+1 dimensional dispersive long-wave equation, and use the adjoint symmetry as the equation multiplier to find several conservation laws. Then we get a Lie bracket by using the relationship between the symmetry of the equation and the adjoint symmetry. Next its strict self-adjoint property is verified, and its conservation laws are solved by Ibragimov's method. Finally, the conservation laws of the target equation are solved by Noether's theorem. Thirdly we calculate some exact solutions of the target equation by three different methods. In the end of the paper, the Hamiltonian structure of the target equation, the generalized pre-symplectic that maps symmetries into adjoint-symmetries and some of its soliton solutions are calculated. In conclusion, we use the direct construction of conservation law method, Ibragimov's method and so on to solve some new conservation laws of 1+1 dimensional dispersive long-wave equation, use the relationship between symmetry and adjoint symmetry to construct the corresponding Lie brackets, and obtain some linear soliton solutions according to the conservation law of the equation.

Abstract:Abstract The Lie symmetry analysis is applied to study the Ablowitz–Kaup–Newell–Segur (AKNS) system of water wave model. The AKNS system can be obtained from a dispersive-wave system via a variable transformation. Lie point symmetries and corresponding point transformations are determined. The optimal system of one-dimensional subalgebras is presented. On the basis of the optimal system, the similarity reductions and the invariant solutions are obtained. Some conservation laws are derived using the multipliers. In addition, the AKNS system is quasi self-adjoint. The conservation laws associated with the symmetries are also constructed.

Abstract:We consider chiral-type systems admitting a Lax representation with values in a real or complex semisimple Lie algebra such that an additional regularity condition is satisfied (one of the matrices is a regular element of the Lie algebra). We prove that for a chiral-type system with vanishing torsion and a nonvanishing curvature, the existence of at least one pointwise cosymmetry is a necessary condition for the regular Lax representation.

Abstract:We construct Lie point symmetries, a closed-form solution and conservation laws using a non-Noetherian approach for a specific case of the Gorini-Kossakowski-Sudarshan-Lindblad equation that has been recast for the study of non-relativistic free particles in a thermal reservoir environment. Conservation laws are constructed subsequently using the Ibragimov method via a solution to the adjoint form of the equation of motion via its corresponding scalaing symmetry. A general computational framework for obtaining all conserved vectors is exhibited some triplets of conserved quantities are calculated in full.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the Lie group formalism for the time fractional generalized nonlinear Broer–Kaup system in the sense of Riemann–Liouville fractional partial derivative. The Lie algebra corresponding to the symmetry groups in which the studied equation remains invariant is established, and the similarity reductions are performed. Next, based on the invariant subspace method as well as the power series method, including the convergence analysis, some exact solutions of the time fractional generalized Broer–Kaup system and its standard form are derived. Moreover, in order to show the dynamical behavior and the impact of the fractional order on the profile of solutions, some figures in 2D and 3D have been depicted. Finally, in accordance with the nonlinear self-adjointness property, conservation laws are successfully formulated using infinitesimal symmetries.

Abstract:Noether and Lie symmetry analyses based on point transformations that depend on time and spatial coordinates will be reviewed for a general class of time-dependent Hamiltonian systems. The resulting symmetries are expressed in the form of generators whose time-dependent coefficients follow as solutions of sets of ordinary differential (``auxiliary'') equations. The interrelation between the Noether and Lie sets of auxiliary equations will be elucidated. The auxiliary equations of the Noether approach will be shown to admit invariants for a much broader class of potentials, compared to earlier studies. As an example, we work out the Noether and Lie symmetries for the time-dependent Kepler system. The Runge-Lenz vector of the time-independent Kepler system will be shown to emerge as a Noether invariant if we adequately interpret the pertaining auxiliary equation. Furthermore, additional nonlocal invariants and symmetries of the Kepler system will be isolated by identifying further solutions of the auxiliary equations that depend on the explicitly known solution path of the equations of motion. Showing that the invariants remain unchanged under the action of different symmetry operators, we demonstrate that a unique correlation between a symmetry transformation and an invariant does not exist.

Abstract:We carry out an extensive investigation of conservation laws and potential symmetries for the class of linear (1+1)-dimensional second-order parabolic equations. The group classification of this class is revised by employing admissible transformations, the notion of normalized classes of differential equations and the adjoint variational principle. All possible potential conservation laws are described completely. They are in fact exhausted by local conservation laws. For any equation from the above class the characteristic space of local conservation laws is isomorphic to the solution set of the adjoint equation. Effective criteria for the existence of potential symmetries are proposed. Their proofs involve a rather intricate interplay between different representations of potential systems, the notion of a potential equation associated with a tuple of characteristics, prolongation of the equivalence group to the whole potential frame and application of multiple dual Darboux transformations. Based on the tools developed, a preliminary analysis of generalized potential symmetries is carried out and then applied to substantiate our construction of potential systems. The simplest potential symmetries of the linear heat equation, which are associated with single conservation laws, are classified with respect to its point symmetry group. Equations possessing infinite series of potential symmetry algebras are studied in detail.

Abstract:The multi-component nonlinear Schrödinger equations (MNLS) are derived by extending the single-component nonlinear Schrödinger equation to multiple interacting fields. These equations often describe the dynamics of wave packets in quantum mechanics or nonlinear optics. In this paper, we investigate MNLS equations via the Lie symmetry method. The Lie infinitesimal symmetries of the MNLS equations are derived by solving recursive determining equations, and the symmetry reductions of the equations are given by using symmetry variables. Moreover, some interesting explicit solutions for the equations are constructed. Finally, the conservation laws of the MNLS equations are obtained utilizing Ibragimov's method with detailed derivation.

Abstract:The general concept of nonlinear self-adjointness of differential equations is introduced. It includes the linear self-adjointness as a particular case. Moreover, it embraces the previous notions of self-adjoint and quasi self-adjoint nonlinear equations. The class of nonlinearly self-adjoint equations includes, in particular, all linear equations. Conservation laws associated with symmetries can be constructed for all nonlinearly self-adjoint differential equations and systems. The number of equations in systems can be different from the number of dependent variables.

Abstract:Within the framework of inverse Lie problem, we give some non-trivial examples of coupled Lie remarkable equations, \textit{i.e.}, classes of differential equations that are in correspondence with their Lie point symmetries. In particular, we determine hierarchies of second order partial differential equations uniquely characterized by affine transformations of $\mathbb{R}^{n+m}$, and a system of two third order partial differential equations in two independent variables uniquely determined by the Lie algebra of projective transformations of $\mathbb{R}^4$.
