Abstract:. In this work we introduce two (3+1)-dimensional Gardner-type equations. We ﬁnd the necessary conditions for the multiple kink solutions to exist. We show that each model possesses distinct conditions to guarantee the existence of multiple kink solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, the singularly perturbed modified Gardner equation is considered. Firstly, for the unperturbed equation, under certain parameter conditions, we obtain the exact expressions of kink wave solution and antikink wave solution by using the bifurcation method of dynamical systems. Then, the persistence of the kink and antikink wave solutions of the perturbed modified Gardner equation is studied by exploiting the geometric singular perturbation theory and the Melnikov function method. When the perturbation parameter is sufficiently small, we obtain the sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of kink and antikink wave solutions.

Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena

Abstract:Through the application of the deformation algorithm, a novel (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation and its associated Lax pair are derived from the (1+1)-dimensional Gardner equation and its conservation laws. As soon as the (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation is set to be $y$ or $z$ independent, the Gardner equations in (2+1)-dimension are also obtained. To seek the exact solutions for these higher dimensional equations, the traveling wave method and the symmetry theory are introduced. Hence, the implicit expressions of traveling wave solutions to the (3+1)-dimensional and (2+1)-dimensional Gardner equations, the Lie point symmetry and the group invariant solutions to the (3+1)-dimensional Gardner equation are well investigated. In particular, after selecting some specific parameters, both the traveling wave solutions and the symmetry reduction solutions of hyperbolic function form are given.

Gravitational kinks in two spacetime dimensions

Abstract:The properties of gravitational kinks are studied within some simple models of two dimensional gravity. In spacetimes of cylindrical topology we prove the existence of kinks of constant curvature with arbitrary kink numbers. In $R^1\times R^1$ spacetimes $m=1$ kink solutions of the equation $R=0$ are found, whereas $|m|>1$ flat kinks are proved not to exist. We give a detailed analysis of the behaviour of gravitational kinks under coordinate transformations. Viewed as nonsingular black holes $|m|>1$ kink solutions are found within a simple dilaton gravity theory. The general form of the potential function is determined from the demand that the theory possesses an arbitrary number of inequivalent kink configurations.

Abstract:We study static kink solutions in a generalized two-dimensional dilaton gravity model, where the kinetic term of the dilaton is generalized to be an arbitrary function of the canonical one X = − 1 2 ( ∇ φ ) 2 , say F ( X ) , and the kink is generated by a canonical scalar matter field ϕ. It is found that for arbitrary F ( X ) , the background field equations have a simple first-order formalism, and the linear perturbation equation can always be written as a Schrödinger-like equation with factorizable Hamiltonian operator. After choosing appropriate F ( X ) and superpotential, we obtain a sine-Gordon type kink solution with pure AdS2 metric. The linear perturbation issue of this solution becomes an exactly solvable conformal quantum mechanics problem, if one of the model parameter takes a critical value.

Multi-kinks in scalar field theories with non-degenerate vacua: The commensurable and non degenerate double sine-Gordon model

Abstract:This paper considers generic scalar fields models in one space dimension,the potentials of which have several vacuum states. It is shown that the partial breaking of the vacuum degeneracy provides a mechanism for the appearance of static multi-kinks, whenever some false vacuum states appear between two true vacuum states. A multi-kink is a stable field configuration with an internal structure, consisting of various localized energy packages with well-defined separations between them. General results for multi-kinks properties are presented. We introduce the commensurable and non degenerate double sine-Gordon model as a specific realization of this mechanism, supporting the existence of multi-kinks with an arbitrary $n$-number of subkinks. The multi-kinks properties are thoroughly analyzed including the novel phenomenology displayed when two of them collide.

Abstract:In this work, kinks with non-canonical kinetic energy terms are studied in a type of two-dimensional dilaton gravity model. The linear stability issue is generally discussed for arbitrary static solutions, and the stability criteria are obtained. As an explicit example, a model with cuscuton term is studied. After rewriting the equations of motion into simpler first-order formalism and choosing a polynomial superpotential, an exact self-gravitating kink solution is obtained. The impacts of the cuscuton term are discussed.

Abstract:Consider a quasi-linear system of two Klein–Gordon equations with masses m1, m2. We prove that when m1≠2m2 and m2≠2m1, such a system has global solutions for small, smooth, compactly supported Cauchy data. This extends a result proved by Sunagawa (J. Differential Equations 192 (2) (2003) 308) in the semi-linear case. Moreover, we show that global existence holds true also when m1=2m2 and a convenient null condition is satisfied by the nonlinearities.
Solutions of distinct physical structures for two generalized KdV equations

Abstract:This paper deals with two generalized KdV equations which possess three high order nonlinear terms. A technique based on the reduction of order for solving differential equations and variable transformations is employed to find the bell type, kink type, solitary patterns, peakons and periodic solutions for the equations under several circumstances. It is shown that the exponents of the nonlinear terms, the wave speed of the solutions and the coefficients of the derivatives of the equations play a major role in the qualitative change of the physical structures of the solutions. Dynamics of kink clusters for scalar fields in dimension 1+1

Abstract:We consider a real scalar field equation in dimension 1+1 with an even positive self-interaction potential having two non-degenerate zeros (vacua) 1 and -1. It is known that such a model admits non-trivial static solutions called kinks and antikinks. A kink cluster is a solution approaching, for large positive times, a superposition of alternating kinks and antikinks whose velocities converge to 0. They can be equivalently characterised as the solutions of minimal possible energy containing a given number of transitions between the vacua, or as the solutions whose kinetic energy decays to 0 for large time. Our main result is a determination of the main-order asymptotic behaviour of any kink cluster. Moreover, we construct a kink cluster for any prescribed initial positions of the kinks and antikinks, provided that their mutual distances are sufficiently large. Finally, we show that kink clusters are universal profiles for the formation/collapse of multi-kink configurations. The proofs rely on a reduction, using appropriately chosen modulation parameters, to an n-body problem with attractive exponential interactions.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper we are concerned with the existence, nonexistence and bifurcation of nontrivial solution of the nonlinear Schrödinger-Korteweg-de Vries type system(NLS-NLS-KdV). First, we find some conditions to guarantee the existence and nonexistence of positive solution of the system. Second, we study the asymptotic behavior of the positive ground state solution. Finally, we use the classical Crandall-Rabinowitz local bifurcation theory to get the nontrivial positive solution. To get these results we encounter some new challenges. By combining the Nehari manifolds constraint method and the delicate energy estimates, we overcome the difficulties and find the two bifurcation branches from one semitrivial solution. This is an new interesting phenomenon but which have not previously been found.

Abstract:This paper examines the effects of a thin layer of inhomogeneity on periodic solutions of the Multiple-sine-Gordon (MsG) model. We investigate the dynamics of the perturbed Double-sine-Gordon (DsG) system as a significant and more practical case of such configurations. The thin barrier acts as a potential well (potential barrier) and causes critical deformations in kink train solutions and some basic properties of the periodic solutions, such as the type of sub-kinks, their amplitude, energy and wavelength. Stability of the initial kink chain during the interaction with medium defects is analyzed using their phase diagram. Sudden changes in the profile of kink trains due to the disruption of their amplitude and wavelength are considered. The time evolution of moving kink chain solutions while interacting with medium fractures is also studied.

Abstract:By using the well-known mountain-pass theorem and Ekeland's variational principle, we prove that there exist at least two fully nontrivial solutions for a -Kirchhoff elliptic system with the Dirichlet boundary conditions and perturbation terms on a locally weighted and connected finite graph . We also present a necessary condition of the existence of semitrivial solutions for the system. Moreover, by using Ekeland's variational principle and Clark's Theorem, respectively, we prove that the system has at least one or multiple semitrivial solutions when the perturbation terms satisfy different assumptions. Finally, we present a nonexistence result of solutions.

Abstract:The static kink, sphaleron and kink chain solutions for a single scalar field $\phi$ in one spatial dimension are reconsidered. By integration of the Euler--Lagrange equation, or through the Bogomolny argument, one finds that each of these solutions obeys a first-order field equation, an autonomous ODE that can always be formally integrated. We distinguish the BPS case, where the required integral is along a contour in the $\phi$-plane, from the semi-BPS case, where the integral is along a contour in the Riemann surface double-covering the $\phi$-plane, and is generally more complicated.

Abstract:Abstract We present exact solutions for new (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear equations of wave propagation and fluids. We use the tanh/sech method combined with a computer symbolic system for a reliable treatment of this work. We determine a variety of exact solutions for each equation that contains soliton, kink and periodic solutions. The constraints that guarantee the existence of soliton and kink solutions were examined and found to be related to the coefficients k , r and s of the space variables x , y , and z respectively.
