Abstract:Objective To review the research progress on chemical constituents from marine sponges genus Acanthella and their bioactivities.Methods Published papers about chemical constituents from genus Acanthella have been reviewed including their biological activities.Results A hundred and ten compounds were isolated from the marine sponge Acanthella sp.,primarily including diterpenoids and sesquiterpenoids.They are richly functionalized terpenes bearing isonitrile,isothiocyanate,formamide,and/or chlorine groups.This class of compounds exhibited a variety of biological activities,such as antimalarial,anthelmintic,antifouling,cytotoxicity,antimicrobial and antifungal activities.Conclusions This review provides an important reference for the research and development of marine sponges genus Acanthella.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents and bioactivities of sponges of the genus Agelas.Methods The compound types and main pharmacological activities were summarized through the collection of literatures.Results Sponges of the genus Agelas mainly comprise bromopyrrole alkaloids,terpenoid alkaloids,glycosphingolipids,steroids,carotenoids,fatty acids,and other types of chemical components,many of them show various and potent biological activities,including anti-tumor,anti-malarial,anti-microbial,antihistamine,and immunoregulatory activities.Conclusion Sponges of the genus Agelas are prolific in their production of secondary metabolites which show various biological activities and have a broad of developments and applications.This review provides reference for further chemical and biological research of the genus Agelas sponges.

Abstract:Abstact: Study on the chemical constituents and biological activities from marine sponge is a hotspot in the research of marine natural products. So far, a lot of bioactive constituents with the biological activities such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammation, antitumor, antivirus, and immunoregulation are found from various kinds of sponge. According to the chemical structure type, they can be divided into lipids, macrolides, peptides, alkaloids, steroids, and terpenoids. And some compounds have entered clinical study. This article reviews the bioactive constituents from the marine sponge in recent years.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the chemical constituents in the marine sponge, Spongia sp., collected from the Xisha Islands.Methods The pure chemical components from the petroleum ether extract of Spongia sp.were obtained by repeated column chromatography on silica gel,ODS,Sephadex LH-20 and semi-preparative HPLC.Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the reported data.The antifungal activity of those compounds was evaluated by dilution method.Results 9 compounds were isolated and identified,including smenodiol(1),smenospongorine(2),5-epi-smenospongorine(3),dictyoceratin C(4),epi-smenospongidine(5),dictyoceratin A(6),stigmasta-4,6,8(14),22-tetraen-3-one(7),3-oxo-4,6,8(14)-triunsaturated steroids(8),ergosta-4,6,8(14),22-tetraen-3-one(9).Conclusion Compounds 1~9 were isolated from the sponge of genus spongia for the first time.Compound 2、3、5 and 9 exhibited antifungal activities against Candida albicans,Trichophyton mentaqrophytes and Trichophyton rubrum with the MIC values of 12.5~25 μg/ml.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the antineoplastic constituents of marine sponge Stelletta tenuis Lindgren.Methods Antineoplastic compounds were screened by bioassay-guided method,and by a combination of partition and purification with suitable solvent and multiple column chromatographies.Structures were determined on the basis of spectral analyses as well as the comparison of the spectral data with those reported in literatures.Results Eight isomalabaricane triterpenes were isolated.The structures were elucidated as stellettin B(1),C(2),D(3),E(4),rhabdastrellic acid A(5),stellettin H(6),22,23-dihydrostellettin B(7),geoditin A(8).Conclusion Compounds 1~8 were isolated from marine sponge Stelletta tenuis Lindgren in the South China Sea for the first time,the ~(1)H NMR and ~(13)C NMR data of those compounds were assigned by using 2D NMR spectroscopic analysis.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the chemical constituents of sponge Dysidea granulosa.Methods The compounds were isolated and purified by TLC,silica gel column,Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography,MPLC and HPLC.Their chemical structures were identified by NMR、MS and comparison with the data of literatures.Results From the CHa OH extract of Dysidea granulosa,six compounds were isolated and their structures were determined as Honulactone A (1),Honulactone B(2),Honulactone F (3),Honulactone E (4),2-(2',4'-Dibromophenoxy)-4,6-dibromophenol (5),3,5-Dibromo-6-chloro-2-(2,4-dibromophenoxy) phenol (6).Conclusion Compounds 1、2、3、4 were isolated from the Dysidea ganulosa for the first time.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents of the sponge Haliclona cymaeformis collected from the South China Sea.Methods The compounds were isolated and purified by column chromatography on silica gel,reversed-phase silica gel(ODS) and Sephadex LH-20,and their structures were elucidated on the basis of physicochemical and spectral analysis.Results Eleven compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of H.cymaeformis,and their structures were identified as 24-methylene-cholesta-3β-ol(1),5α,8β-epidioxy-cholesta-6-en-3-ol(2),cholesta-7-en-3β,5α,6β,9α-tetraol(3),cholesterol(4),1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid(5),uracil(6),thymine(7),uridine(8),thymidine(9),2'-deoxyuridine(10),and 2'-deoxythymidine(11),respectively.Conclusion All the isolated compounds were obtained from the sponge H.cymaeformis for the first time.Compounds 3 showed significant inhibitory activities towards chronic myelogenous leukemia(K562) and human hepatoma(SMMC-7721) cell lines.

Abstract:Three indole compounds(namely 1H-Indole-3-carboxaldehyde(1),1H-Indole-3-carboxylic acid(2),and ethyl 1H-Indole-3-carboxylate(3)) and 3-β-5-en-cholest(4) were isolated from the south China sea sponge,Xetospongia testudinaria,by repeatedly silica gel and Sephedex LH-20 chromatography.Their structures were identified by extensive spectroscopic analysis together with NMR、IR and EI(ESI)-MS spectrum,and further determined by comparing their physical and chemical data with the literature.All the identified compounds are isolated from the sponge,Xetospongia testudinaria,at the first time.

Methods:Compounds were separated and purified through various chromatographic methods and their structures were identified by spectroscopic data. Results:Seven compounds were isolated and identified as 4-hydroxybenzoic acid(Ⅰ) , p-hydroxycinnamic acid(Ⅱ) , Pyrimidine-2, 4(1H,3H)-dione(Ⅲ), Ferulic acid methyl ester(Ⅳ) , Dodecyl ethers of glycerol(Ⅴ) , Tetracosane(Ⅵ). Abstract:Six new bisabolane-type phenolic sesquiterpenoids, including plakordiols A-D (1-4), (7R, 10R)-hydroxycurcudiol (5) and (7R, 10S)-hydroxycurcudiol (6) were isolated from the marine sponge Plakortis simplex collected from the South China Sea. Their structures were determined based on extensive analysis of spectroscopic data. Their configurations were assigned by coupling constant analysis, NOESY correlations, and the modified Mosher's method. Furthermore, their cytotoxic and antibacterial activities were evaluated.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the chemical constituents of the marine sponge Theonella swinhoei collected from the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea .Methods The petroleum ether and dichloromethane extract of the marine sponge T . swinhoei were purified by solvent extraction and chromatographic methods including vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC) , medium pressureliquidchromatography(MPLC),thinlayerchromatography(TLC)onsilicagel,highperformanceliquidchro-matography(HPLC) ,and Sephadex LH-20 .The chemical structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the reported data .Results Eight compounds were isolated and their structures were determined as cholest-7-ene-3β,5α, 6β-triol (1) ,ergosta-7 ,22-diene-3β,5α,6β-triol (2) ,25-norcycloartane-3β,6α,16β,24-tetraol (3) ,sinuflexibilin D (4) ,14-de-oxycrassin (5) ,N-(2-phenylethyl)-(9Z)-tetradecanamide(6) ,N-(2-phenylethyl)-tetradecanamide (7) ,7 ,8-dimethyl-isoallox-azine (8) .Conclusion Compounds 1～ 7 were isolated from the sponge of genus Theonella for the first time .

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents in the South China Sea marine sponge Axinella sp. Methods: Various chromatography techniques (silica gel, preparative TLC, Sephadex LH-20 and semi-preparative HPLC) were performed to isolate and purify the extracts. The structures were identified mainly by extensive spectral data analysis. Results:Seven compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as debromohymenialdisine (1), hymenialdisine (2), aldisin (3), 3-bromoaldisin (4), niacinamide (5), thymine (6), uracil(7). Conclusion:Compounds 1-4 are specific bromopyrrole alkaloids of marine sponges, and compounds 5, 6, 7 are isolated for the first time from the genus Axinella.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the bioactive constituents of coral Scleronephthya sp.collected from the South China Sea.Methods The compounds were isolated and purified using repeated column chromatographies on Sephadex LH-20,normal-and reversed-phase silica gels,and RP-HPLC.The structures of the compounds were elucidated based on the detailed spectroscopic analysis in combination with reported data.The in vitro antimicrobial activity of these compounds were assessed by an agar diffusion test.Results and conclusion Three 5α,8α-epidioxysterols,two alkyl glycerol ethers and 1,2-O-alkyl glycerol were isolated from Scleronephthya sp.;these compounds displayed different levels of antifungal and antibacterial activities in bioassay in vitro.Compound 5 inhibited the growth of Gram-negative bacterium Escherichia coli and the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus megaterium.Compound 6 showed marked antifungal activity against Microbotryum violaceum.Compounds 1-4 demonstrated a weak antimicrobial activity.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the chemical constituents of marine sponge Mycale sp.collected from the South China Sea.Methods The ethyl acetate extract of the marine sponge Mycale sp.was separated and purified by repeated column chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC).The structures of these compounds were identified by means of various modern spectroscopic techniques and comparison with their physicochemical properties to reported data.The tumor cell growth inhibitory activities of these compounds against human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and human lung cancer cell lines PC9 were tested by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) method.Results Ten compounds were isolated and identified as cyclo-(Pro-Ile)(1),cyclo-(Pro-Leu)(2),cyclo-(Ile-Leu)(3),cyclo-(Phe-Pro)(4),cyclo-(Phe-Val)(5),cyclo-(Phe-Leu)(6),cyclo-(Phe-Ile)(7), 2′-deoxythymidine (8), thymine (9), 5-hydroxy-3,4-dimethyl-5-pentyl-2(5H)-furanone (10).These compounds showed weak tumor cell growth inhibitory activities toward cells MCF-7 and PC9 in vitro.Conclusion Compounds 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 were isolated from the sponge Mycale sp.for the first time.It is the first time to report the antitumor activity evaluation for compounds 1~10.

Abstract:In this study,we collected sponge sample from Zhanjiang offshore sea area,and sponge ingredient were extracted by organic solvent benzine,chloroform,normal butyl alcohol and ethyl acetate,and identified and analyzed with the spectroscopic technique such as gel permeation chromatography(GPC),gas chromatopraphy-mass spectrometry(GC/MS),liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer(LC-MS).The data indicates that the sponge has many kinds of compound,and affirms five kinds of compound such as hexanedioic acid,bis(2-ethyLhexyL) ester,n-Hexadecanoic acid,1,3-CycLopentanedione,2,4-dimethyL-,1,2-DithioLane-3-pentanoic acid,and 26 kinds of compound molecular weights,but also has many kinds of matter also to wait for further analysis.
