Abstract:Dry twin screw vacuum pump, which generates no oil and gas during operation, inherits the advantages of screw machinery, such as high reliability, stable medium conveying, small vibration, simple and compact structure, convenient operation, etc. which has been widely used in petrochemical and new or high-technology industries, like vacuum heat treatment, nuclear research, micro electro mechanical systems, nanotechnology, precision manufacturing and national defense technology. In this paper, the geometric feature of the twin screw vacuum pump such as contact line, meshing line and chamber volume between teeth is analysed, respectively. In order to study the micro working process within the dry twin screw vacuum pump, a test rig has been designed and built and the p-V indicator diagrams of the working process of dry twin screw vacuum pump have been recorded successfully under various working conditions. Based on the indicator diagrams, the working process within the dry twin screw vacuum pump is analysed in more detail, and especially, the effects of the suction pressure as well as rotational speed on the performance of dry twin screw vacuum pump, such as pumping speed and ultimate pressure, is thus investigated. The results presented in this paper are helpful to deepen understanding of the working process inside dry twin screw vacuum pump and offers a good reference for to improve design and optimize such machines.

Abstract:Vacuum,which is clean and oil-free,has been the ideal environment pursued by industry and scroll vacuum pump is a new mechanical pump with oil-free and in-line media and has the advantages such as simple power transmission,small gas flow loss,smooth operation,simple and compact structure,good sealing performance,small power consumption,low vibration noise,high reliability and so on.The research indicates that oil-free vacuum is critical to obtaining clean and oil-free vacuum environment.The development process,working principles,structure,types and related products of scroll vacuum pump are introduced and the development trend of scroll vacuum pump is analyzed.

Abstract:Screw machines, mainly including single-screw type and twin-screw type, have gone through significant development and improvement during the past decade. This paper reviews the relevant studies available in the open literature for acquiring insight into and to establish the state of the art of the research and application status of screw machines. The related research on different aspects, which would affect the performance and reliability of screw machines includes rotor profile and geometric characteristics, thermodynamic modelling, vibration and noise, lubrication and wear, control of capacity and built-in volume ratio, and liquid injection technology. In the aspect of thermodynamic modelling, the available methods, i.e., empirical or semi-empirical model, lump model, and 3D CFD model, adopted for the performance prediction and optimal design of screw machines are summarized. Then, the review covers the application status of screw machines in the fields of air compression and expansion, refrigeration and heat pump, organic Rankine cycle (ORC), and other popular applications, with an emphasis on the reported performance and progress in technologies of screw machines. Finally, conclusions and perspectives for future research in the area of screw machines are presented. The review provides readers with a good understanding of the research focus and progress in the field of screw machines.

Abstract:Following the theoretical research on working process of screw compressors, the mathematical models for simulation of the thermodynamic performance and dynamic characteristics of the screw compressor are proposed, which are experimentally verified by means of recording the indicator diagrams (p-V diagrams) with a small pressure sensor embedded in the female rotor, the measurement of pressure pulsation in the discharge chamber and the forces acting on the rotors, and the visualization experiment on oil distribution in the compressor. It indicates the relation between the performance and the design parameters of the screw compressor. Simultaneously, the key technology for screw compressor is developed including profile design method, the cutter design, the soft package of SCCAD. Up to now, more than 50 models of twin screw compressor products have been developed and mass manufactured to meet the requirement of refrigeration, aerodynamic and petrochemical industry.

Abstract:The principle of the vibration drilling technology is introduced. The domestic and foreign status of the research and development on vibration drilling micro-hole is summarized, and the applying prospect and the existing problems are also analyzed. To solve the problems such as tool wear, machining accuracy, and surface quality of the micro-hole, a new scheme of electric hot vibration compound drilling is presented. Thus it can improve the machining efficiency and quality of the micro-hole.

Abstract:The rarefied gas flows through suction port, scroll clearance and discharge port are treated as leakage of dry scroll vacuum pump (DSVP). The models for predicting the above-mentioned leakage rate were derived in this paper. The model for predicting the heat transfer rate between rarefied gas and working chamber wall was also developed. Then, a general model for describing the working process of DSVP was set up according to the energy and mass conservation principle. This model can be applied to predict the performance of DSVP. The pumping speed for different suction pressures was obtained. Furthermore, the ultimate pressure and power consumption for different speeds were gotten. A good agreement between the theoretical results and experimental data was obtained. Finally, the volume ratio of prototype was changed and its influence on the performance was studied by experiment.

Abstract:The conical rotor, as an alternative internal compression structure, has shown the potential to enhance the performance of screw vacuum pumps further. In view of no available literature examining the design of them, to fill this gap, mathematical models for the generation and analysis of conical rotors were established in this paper. The generation process was based on a design implementing a rotor profile cluster and a conical helix. The analysis model reflected the geometric characteristics and thermodynamic performance of conical rotors. The effect of key parameters in conical rotors was investigated, and the difference between conical rotors and variable-pitch rotors was revealed. Results showed that with the increase in the conical angle the internal volume index enlarged while both the specific power and pumping speed decreased. To achieve greater internal compression, more rotor stages were needed. The rotor performance could be improved by changing the distribution of the tooth width angle for the rotor profile cluster at a certain inlet pressure. In comparison with the variable-pitch rotor, the specific power was lower for the conical rotor at a close pumping speed.

Abstract:Through mathematical derivation based on screw engagement theory, the complete equations of the rotor profile with single thread, fixed pitch screws, trapezium and concave tooth surface were given. The end face profile of the pair screw rotor is conjugate and identical. The pair screw rotor form a meshing relationship by left hand and right hand. Finally, through modeling and simulation of meshing process by PRO/ENGINEER software, the profile equation is proved to be correct, the meshing line is completed, and operating the tooth surface interference does not occur in the course of meshing process.

A Performance Test and Internal Flow Field Simulation of a Vortex Pump

Abstract:Vortex pumps have good non-clogging performance and are widely used in the fluid transportation of food, sewage treatment, and mineral and coal slurry transportation. In order to design and manufacture a vortex pump with good performance and establish a method of optimum design, we must master the internal flow rules of the pump. Based on the self-design vortex pump (32WB8-12) experiment, the discharge-pump head (qv-H), discharge-pump shaft power (qv-P), discharge-pump efficiency (qv-η), and discharge-critical net positive suction head (qv-NPSHc) curves are obtained, and the qv-NPSHc curve shows an opposite tendency compared with the centrifugal pump. With the mathematical model selected with respect to the optimal condition, the three-dimensional internal flow within the vortex pump has been numerically simulated by a renormalization group k-ε (RNG k-ε) turbulence model. The static pressure (ps) and velocity distribution of the impeller and the middle section of the volute at 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270° are obtained, and the performance curves have been fitted using a CFX-calculated energy parameter. It was illustrated that the velocity field is relatively disordered and the flow in the impeller region is of a forced vortex character. The flow in the volute is similar to that of the combined vortex with backflow, which is a non-axisymmetric unsteady flow with quite high turbulence intensity. These factors are the main reasons for the relatively low efficiency of the vortex pump. The measurement of flow field in volute with a five-hole probe was conducted, and it is demonstrated that the numerical results are in good agreement with the flow field measurement data. An upward pressure gradient forms in the portal area of the impeller, and it is confirmed that the lowest pressure point is located in the upper position of the impeller hub. It is revealed that for the vortex pump to have advanced suction and anti-cavitation performance, the lowest pressure in the pump should be −4 × 104 Pa and it should be located at the center of the vortex chamber cavity.

Abstract:In view of the status of limited application of screw pump oil production technique in shallow layer sand producing block of Jidong Oilfield with over 95% deviated wells and high kickoff point, oil production matching techniques for screw pump in deviated well are researched. Optimal model of production parameters for screw pump oil production system in deviated well is established by research on effect of design parameters and process parameters in use properties of screw pump. Sucker rod combination and centralizer setting are designed and simulation experiment is made by analysis on stress and stability of sucker rod of screw pump in deviated well. Compatibility of stator and crude oil is preliminarily recognized by cause analysis on of rod and tube and experiment of compatibility of stator and crude oil. Matching tools as multifunctional rotary sucker rod centralizer short section, sucker rod universal coupling short section, blanking plug and reverse eccentric tubing anchor and so on are studied and developed, which solves the bending and breaking problem of rod string in deviate well, prolongs life of sucker rod and reduces maintenance cost. Screw pump in deviated well is not only of broad extension prospects in sand producing block, but also with great advantage compared with other oil production modes in no sand producing block.

Design and experimental analysis of end face profile of tri-screw pump

Abstract:This study proposes a new type of tri-screw pump, which has a 1:2:3 ratio of the active diameter of the screw, the diameter of the pitch circle, and the top diameter of the active screw. Fixed width correction method of the driven screw is also proposed to avoid wear of tooth top. The mathematical model of active and driven screws is established. To avoid the wear of the tooth top arc, several transition patterns are proposed, and the transition curve in the form of a circular arc is deduced. The designed screw curve is grinded, and the tri-screw pump is assembled. The hydraulic pump test bench is tested using the overflow valve to perform pressure loading of 3-5 MPa on the outlet of the screw pump. The outlet flow rate and pressure are tested, and results indicate that the output flow of the pump conforms to the designed flow rate. This study establishes the detailed equation of the end face profile of the tri-screw pump (active and driven screws) and corrects the arc profile of the line angle.

Abstract:Screw compressor entered domestic market 30 years ago,and substituted other style compressors gradually and is becoming the superior selection in refrigeration and air-conditioning system of medium and high capacity with its market share increasing year by year.The technology improvement of the screw refrigeration compressor industry in China is elaborated from the aspects such as rotor profile line,rotor processing,injection technology and capacity control and so on.The application of screw compressor into heat pump and freeze and cold storage is also briefly introduced.However,there are still some deficiencies requiring more efforts to be overcome in manufacture and control system for domestic screw compressor.The development trend of screw compressor is cautiously predicted.The study is hoped to provide some actual guidance for independent research and innovation.

Abstract:The built-in volume ratio of the twin-screw vacuum pump plays a crucial role in determining its applications. The screw rotor with larger built-in volume ratio has lower power consumption and lower discharge temperature, which is beneficial to obtain a higher ultimate vacuum. In order to improve the built-in volume ratio of screw rotors, and then develop a twin-screw vacuum pump with high ultimate vacuum, this paper presented a two-segment variable-pitch screw rotor generated by sweeping a constant cross-sectional profile along helixes. Effects of geometric parameters including the radius ratio and central angle on the rotor structure, area utilization and pumping speed of the proposed variable-pitch screw rotor were analyzed. Consequently, a pair of intermeshing two-segment variable-pitch screw rotors were optimized and manufactured, and a prototype of a twin-screw vacuum pump was developed. The performance of the proposed variable-pitch screw rotor was verified by the performance experiment of the developed prototype. Results show that the proposed two-segment variable-pitch screw rotors exhibits many distinct advantages of high ultimate vacuum, easy to process, and low noise and vibration; and its ultimate vacuum can quickly reach 0.1Pa. The developed screw rotors are of great significance for improving the performance and application of the twin-screw vacuum pump.

Abstract:The general model for describing the working process of dry scroll vacuum pump (DSVP) has been presented previously by the author. The working process of DSVP can be simulated by this model. In order to verify the simulated results, the dynamic pressure measurement was introduced to DSVP. The related test and design methods were also discussed. The pressure-orbiting angle diagrams for different suction pressures and speeds were successfully recorded. A good agreement between the theoretical results and experimental data was obtained. The maximal deviation of them is less than 10%. Finally, the influence of speed, volume ratio on the working process was analyzed. The corresponding change trends were obtained. The results are helpful to deepen understanding of DSVP.

Abstract:To providing technical reference on designing high performance,high reliability chemical centrifugal pump,the latest progress on the products and the theory research of the chemical process pump was introduced.Several usual methods about hydrodynamic design were summarized.The latest progress on the reliability design of the chemical pump was described,and reliability analysis method were analyzed.The ways to increase the reliability by improving the hydrodynamic and structure design was listed.the latest developments of the chemical centrifugal pump show that the 3-D flow design and reliability analysis technology have already used in the design process of chemical centrifugal pump,and gradually become an important means of high performance,high reliability product design.
Modern Vacuum Pumps for the Vacuum Degassing of Steel in Small and Large Vacuum-Degassing Units

Abstract:This article discusses a new design for Roots pumps and screw pumps which uses hermetically sealed motors. The new pump is easy to maintain, alleviates wear, and increases safety, which makes it more reliable than traditional Roots pumps. The screw vacuum pumps operate within a wide range of pressures. Thanks to the absence of friction in the vacuum chamber and the use of special coatings on the working elements, these units can be used in place of water-ring and rotary vane pumps for the high-vacuum evacuation of gases and vapors of liquids (including aggressive liquids). In this case, the gas being pumped is not contaminated by water vapor or oil. The absence of friction elements in the vacuum chamber means that the unit requires almost no maintenance. The use of standardized pre-equipped modular building blocks reduces fabrication and installation/startup costs, makes the equipment more compact, and saves power, oil, and water compared to other systems. The small size of both types of pumps – which can be used in any configuration – not only shortens delivery times and simplifies spare-parts management but also facilitates equipment assembly or (if necessary) replacement. Attainment of the pumps’ rated productivity is assured by parallel connection of several compact modules. The mechanical pumps can be used for VID, VIM, VD, RH, VIT (vacuum ingot teeming), and VAR (vacuum-arc remelting) units, including units that perform vacuum-oxygen decarburization. The pumps’ design incorporates measures to protect against dust and water-vapor condensation, which can lead to the formation of acidic liquids. The pumps can be used in all types of vacuum processes – including processes that involve the injection of oxygen – while observing existing safety standards. The low inertial mass of the pumps helps them respond rapidly to frequency control, which facilitates the evacuation process. Redundant operation is provided for in all the pumping-unit configurations.

Abstract:Abstract Since the invention of screw pump in 1930, screw pump technology has been continuously improved and perfected, especially the development of synthetic rubber technology and bonding technology, which has made screw pump widely used in oil exploitation. Screw pump wells have the characteristics of low investment, high pump efficiency and energy saving. At present, screw pump has become a common artificial lifting method in oil fields using polymer flooding. In view of the present situation that screw pump wells are used for oil production more and more in Liuchang area, this paper discusses how to improve the production efficiency of screw pump wells in field production to promote the development of oil fields.
