Abstract:This review paper covers several quality of service (QoS) models provided by Internet including IntServ, DiffServ and MPLS. It analyses the architecture and technological characteristics of each model. After an introduction of each model, this paper summarizes what QoS requests they can fulfill and how they implement these requests. It also describes the support of multicast in QoS models in brief. Based on these analytical studies, this paper proposes a total architecture of top-to-bottom, end-to-end QoS model, which takes full advantage of the virtues of the models described beforehand. This model has two prominent points: End-to-End QoS guarantee and flexible extensibility, which represent the trend for the future research of QoS.

Abstract:Quality of experience (QoE) is the perceptual quality of service (QoS) from the users' perspective. For video service, the relationship between QoE and QoS (such as coding parameters and network statistics) is complicated because users' perceptual video quality is subjective and diversified in different environments. Traditionally, QoE is obtained from subjective test, where human viewers evaluate the quality of tested videos under a laboratory environment. To avoid high cost and offline nature of such tests, objective quality models are developed to predict QoE based on objective QoS parameters, but it is still an indirect way to estimate QoE. With the rising popularity of video streaming over the Internet, data-driven QoE analysis models have newly emerged due to availability of large-scale data. In this paper, we give a comprehensive survey of the evolution of video quality assessment methods, analyzing their characteristics, advantages, and drawbacks. We also introduce QoE-based video applications and, finally, identify the future research directions of QoE.

Abstract:Based on the analysis of P2P hierarchical architecture,QoS evaluation model for overlay network layer and application layer were proposed combined with P2P file-sharing system applications,and the overall QoS evaluation model was further formed.The simulation analyzed how the factors impact on the QoS,including the joining and leaving of nodes,node capabilities and uploading strategy,node,cache size,and node caching strategies and other.In addition,the heat of the file was also an important factor to influence system QoS.

Abstract:After the discussion of field research scientific significance,the system quality of service(QoS),reputation mechanisms and reputation incentive were reviewed respectively.Finally,the issue remains in this area were summarized after the overseas research review.After years of study,it has been some progress in the field of E-services reputation mechanism,the problem forced to be resolved are inconsistent definitions of trust,lack of feedback incentive,poor security of trust model,high complexity of trust model to achieve.Therefore,problems such as peer-to-peer(P2P) E-services QoS evaluation model,two-way trust model integrated with QoS and reputation incentives,trust model security,are becoming the focus and main direction of our future work.

Abstract:The evaluation of Internet QoS (Quality of Service) is naturally multi-discipline. This paper examines the Internet QoS evaluation by integrating QoS index with price factor. The multinomial logit model is adopted in this paper, which is used to model the choice behaviour of users. Each service class is modelled as independently competitive entity. The goal of each service class is to maximize its own utility. Through the analysis based on noncooperative game, the conclusion is drawn that the equilibria exist between QoS index and price of each service class, and the numerical results is provided to verify the conclusion.

Abstract:After detailed analysis of four IP QoS protocols under develop (RSVP, DiffServ, MPLS and SBM), it is found that , although each protocol can support QoS service in network, none of then can be solutions to end-to-end QoS in large scale network all by itself, Only the utilization of all four procotols can realize deterministic transmission of user traffic flow in WAN. From this on, an integrated architecture for end-to-end IP QoS service is given.

Abstract:Active queue management (AQM) is one of the main congestion control methods in IP network. In this paper we systematically analyze the architecture of the end-to-end congestion control schemes with AQM from the control-theoretic point of view. A transfer function of a simplified network's model is introduced. Based on the model, the configuration of RED and some other AQM algorithms are discussed. Finally we propose some future researches including the precision of network models and robustness of the control algorithms.

Abstract:This article introduces the requirement of multimedia communication over networks in detail.As the Internet increasingly growth and the rapid transformation of the Internet into a commercial infrastructure,demands for service quality have rapidly developed.The Quality of Service (QoS) can hardly be guaranteed and the traditional IP network becomes the bottleneck,which hinders the further development of network.Therefore,IETF has developed three models to achieve the QoS in IP network:InterServ,DiffServ and MPLS,the latter being the tendency of development.After particular discussion of these models,we point out the current issues and research trends.

Abstract:This paper describes an end-to-end QoS (Quality of Services) control model for distributed multimedia computing on enhanced Internet, and gives the design and implementation of this model including hosts and routers. The architecture, the mathematical definition about QoS parameters, and the mapping between Integrated Service (IS) and Differentiated Service (DS) are discussed in this paper. The simulation shows that this model can improve the performance of audio streams when it is used in IPhone system.
Optimization and Analysis of Computer and Network System Operations for Quality of Service (qos) Assurance

Abstract:Various network services, such as webcasting, audio/video conferencing, and file transfer are being deployed over the Internet. This requires computers and network systems to provide the guarantee of the service being provided to the receiver. The requirements of the application are specified in terms of the Quality of Service (QoS) metrics such as delay and response time. A number of important research questions remain concerning computer and network systems with QoS requirements. The focus of this paper is on the timeliness aspect of QoS. In particular, three problems are considered in this study: (1) Stability problem: minimizing waiting time variance (WTV) on multiple identical parallel service providers; (2) Conformity problem: providing end-to-end delay guarantee for instantaneous jobs over the large complex network system; and, (3) Adaptation problem: establishing quantitative Activity-State-QoS (ASQ) adaptation model for a given service such as voice communication service. Each of the three problems addresses one important aspect of QoS. For the stability problem the NP-completeness is proven with bidirectional polynomial transformations to the completion time variance (CTV) problem. Several optimality properties are presented along with two polynomial time heuristic algorithms. For the conformity problem two distributed reservation protocols are proposed with their performance compared to the best effort model. It is shown in the simulation results that the two proposed protocols are significantly superior to the best effort model in terms of delay for both small and large network systems. For the adaptation problem significant system counters are identified with proper grouping. Activity, system states, and QoS performance are characterized by a proper set of performance counters, and their performance and iterations are analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey's test. This research approaches the QoS problems in three different yet fundamental aspects: Conformity, Stability and Adaptation. The results presented in this study have applications to QoS assurance for computer and network systems.

Abstract:It is a challenging problem to provide QoS (quality-of-service) guarantee for the next-generation networks, among which QoSR (QoS routing) is one of the key issues. QoSR seeks to find a feasible path for QoS traffic with two objectives: (1) providing the QoS guarantee for QoS traffic, (2) maximizing the utilization of the whole network. However, some multi-constrained QoSR problems, which are NP-complete, can't be resolved accurately in polynomial time. Thus heuristics are studied extensively in recent years. Based on the weighted graph network model and QoS metrics, the basic concept of QoSR is introduced and the hot issues of the unicast QoSR heuristics are analyzed in this paper. QoSR algorithms can be classified into the several classes: polynomial non-heuristics, pseudo-polynomial non-heuristics, QoS metrics restriction, path subspace search, QoS metrics relation, cost functions study and possibility solution. After typical algorithms are analyzed, the summary and conparison are given for each of the above classes. The validity of algorithms is dissected in detail, including the routing loop problem, stale network state information, the impact of the network topologies and traffic models. Based on the validity analysis, a summary is given for the QoSR algorithms based on probability models. At last, key issues are pointed out to be further studied in the QoSR field.

Abstract:The Internet traffic model is the key issue for network performance management, Quality of Service management, and admission control. The paper first summarizes the primary characteristics of Internet traffic, as well as the metrics of Internet traffic. It also illustrates the significance and classification of traffic modeling. Next, the paper chronologically categorizes the research activities of traffic modeling into three phases: 1) traditional Poisson modeling; 2) self-similar modeling; and 3) new research debates and new progress. Thorough reviews of the major research achievements of each phase are conducted. Abstract:The distributing status of streaming media in mobile wireless Internet is analyzed depended on their multi-hierarchy structures. Individual and general results of QoS online evaluation are shown respectively according to the basic standards of mobile wireless Internet carrying multimedia communication, and the model for evaluating QoS of multimedia in mobile wireless Internet is built. The adaptive serving programs of QoS that meet require of the network with dynamic characteristics are presented for different services in mobile wireless Internet.
