Abstract:s With the restriction on the use of high-GWP refrigerants in the international community, research on environmentally friendly refrigerant mixtures and reducing the use of refrigerants have gradually become important topics in academia. Therefore, in this study, the low-GWP zeotropic mixtures are selected as the target refrigerants and combined with falling film evaporation heat transfer technology that can reduce the refrigerant charge, to conduct the falling film evaporation heat transfer in the refrigeration system. The experimental refrigerants are R134a, R32, R32/R134a (0.5, 0.5), and R32/R1234ze(E) (0.5,0.5). And two wettable surfaces are prepared by oxidative etching. The effects of oil content ( ω ), spray density ( Γ ), heat flux ( q ), evaporation temperature ( T e ), and surface wettability on heat transfer coefficient ( HTC ) are investigated. The experimental operation conditions are as follows: ω of 1.82 ∼ 6.32 %, Γ of 0.0049 ∼ 0.0194 kg/(m·s), q of 10 ∼ 45 kW/m 2 , and T e of 3 ∼ 9 °C. The study found that when ω is relatively low, an increase in ω has a weak impact on HTC , potentially resulting in a slight increase or decrease in HTC . However, when ω is greater than 3 %, increasing ω can significantly reduce HTC , with a reduction of up to 50 %. An increase in q increases the effect of oil on heat transfer deterioration. Besides, the increase of ω delays the appearance of critical heat flux ( CHF ). HTC of R32/R134a is about 1 ∼ 1.25 times that of R32/R1234ze(E). HTC of R134a is approximately 1 ∼ 1.1 times that of R32/R134a, which indicates that the mass transfer resistance of zeotropic refrigerant reduces its heat transfer performance. The difference of HTC s between R134a and R32/R134a becomes larger as q rises. Although the difference in contact angle of refrigerant on surfaces with different wettability is small, the resulting difference in heat transfer performance is very significant. Compared to plain tube, oxidative etching tube can enhance HTC by approximately 25 %. However, increasing surface wettability can lead to an early onset of dry spots and the emergence of CHF . Increasing Γ can increase CHF and delay the onset of CHF . This study provides a very meaningful attempt for the application of low-GWP zeotropic refrigerant in falling film evaporation refrigeration system, and provides important experimental data for improving HTC of falling film evaporation.
