Abstract:Objective: To analyze the effect of mechanical stimulation to the endometrium on the incidence of successful pregnancy in patients undergoing in vitro fertilization- embryo transfer (IVF-ET).Methods: Sixty-four patients were studied who were with endometrial disorder or thickness diagnosed by ultrasound. Thirty-two patients (case group) were operated on to regain normal endometrium or remove thickened endometrium 1~2 weeks before embryo transfer. The remaining 32 patients were not treated and used as control. The outcome of IVF -ET in the two groups was evaluated by the rates of embryo implantation, clinical pregnancy and live births. Results: There were no significant differences between the two groups in the age of the patients, duration and cause for infertility, response to hormone stimulation and the rate of fertilization. However, the rates of embryo implantation, clinical pregnancy and live births in the treatment group were 25.61%, 59.38% and 46.88%, respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the control group (7.78%, 18.75% and 15.63%). Conclusion: Mechanical stimulation to the endometrium significantly improves the successful pregnancy in patients undergoing in vitro fertilization.
