Abstract:A fire detection system based on photoacoustic (PA) principle is reported. The system operates by selecting gas generated in combustion instead of conventional smoke and temperature as parameter, so it can realize an early fire detection. It consists of a broad-spectrum infrared source ranging from 2 to 5 in, a absorption path, a photoacoustic cell, a lock-in amplifier and a sensitive microphone as photoacoustic signal receiver. The reference cell filling with the high-purity gas (here is carbon monoxide)is used as a gas filter selector. The change of gas concentration to be measured in the air is converted into electrical signal and superposed on the initial signal. The gas concentration in the air can be calculated by a simple algorithm according to the relationship between changed photoacousitc signal and gas concentration. Two kinds of Chinese standard fires are tested by the PA detection system. The measurement results show that the system reacts very well to both fires. And a detection limit of 3 ppm of carbon monoxide is achieved experimentally.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to present the experimental supports for the type selection of fire detectors when fire alarm systems are designed. Experiments were performed to evaluate and compare the sensitivity of photoelectric and ionization smoke detectors in the Fire Emulator/Detector Evaluator, using the typical smoke generated by the fuels of four standard fires addressed in the code. The results indicated that the outputs of photoelectric detector increased more sharply than ionization detectors for the smoke generated by pyrolyzing wood. However, for the smoke generated by the smoldering cottons, flaming polyurethane foam and flaming heptane, the ionization detectors respond more sensitively than the photoelectric detectors. Finally it is suggested that the fire alarm system should be designed by selecting suitable fire detectors based on the possible fuels in the building.

Abstract:Photoelectric detectors are the central part of modern photodetection systems with numerous commercial and scientific applications. p-Type semiconductor materials play important roles in optoelectronic devices. Photodetectors based on p-type semiconductor materials have attracted a great deal of attention in recent years because of their unique properties. Here, a comprehensive summary of the recent progress mainly on photodetectors based on inorganic p-type semiconductor materials is presented. Various structures, including photoconductors, phototransistors, homojunctions, heterojunctions, p-i-n junctions, and metal-semiconductor junctions of photodetectors based on inorganic p-type semiconductor materials, are discussed and summarized. Perspectives and an outlook, highlighting the promising future directions of this research field, are also given.

Abstract:At present, the photoelectric performance of infrared detectors has been effectively improved, but the research on photoelectric performance is still less and there is a lack of stable evaluation methods. In order to improve the efficiency of evaluating the photoelectric performance of infrared detectors this study constructed an effective infrared detector test system and combined the infrared detection principle and image processing technology to improve the algorithm. According to the characteristics of infrared images, the image processing technology used in defect detection is mainly image segmentation technology, which effectively segments the recognition image and clearly displays the feature parts. In addition, this study design test to analyze the effectiveness of the method proposed in this study. The research results show that the proposed algorithm has certain effects and can provide theoretical reference for subsequent related research.

Abstract:Smoke particles and heat will be generated in fire,conventional fire detectors detect fire just by these physical effects.But the measurement of physical parameters is not enough for an early fire detection.Nowadays another method has been an area of major interest for early fire dtection which make use of the gases(for example CO) generated from combustion process to detect fire. A majority of existing gas sensors are not good for a early fire detection because of their low sensitivity.A detection method for measuring the gas concentration based on photoacoustic principle is reported in this work,which increased the sensitivity enomously.The rate of false alarm is decreased greatly also by combining carbon monoxide detection with carbon dioxide detection.

Abstract:A method of discrimination of smoke particles using infrared photoelectrical detection is proposed in this paper. Principle of the method is that smoke particles of different materials have different scattering light intensities at same scattering angle according to Mie Theory. Facility used to realize the method includes an infrared laser as light source and an array of avalanche photodiodes distributed at assigned angles as sensing devices. Scattered light signal at these angles are collected and processed. Categories of smoke particle are discriminated by signal processing results. Experiments show that by using this method cigarette smoke, kerosene smoke and water vapor can be discriminated with rate of discrimination of greater than 95%. Application of this technology in the field of fire detection will eliminate some effects of human activities such as cigarette smoking and steam on smoke detection, and improve sensitivity as well as reliability of smoke detection.

Abstract:Photovoltaic power generation is an important part of the current new energy sources. With the development of photovoltaic power generation technology, the corresponding security operation technology has become a new research topic. In this paper, a multi-level fire detection platform based on multi-source heterogeneous information fusion is proposed. The platform includes two levels of detection, level 1 is smoke detection through video monitoring data. Level 2 is the fire detection of data collected by meteorological monitoring. Through the two-level detection, the fire hazard situation and fire hazard location can be accurately located.

Abstract:Photoacousic carbon monoxide and smoke compound detection is a new fire detection technology which may distinguish the variation of the photoacousic signal by carbon monoxide or smoke.Prototype of this detection system was designed and a new threshold and trend compound arithmetic was used to judge the occurrence of the fire.Experimental results showed that compound detection of carbon monoxide and smoke by photoacousic effect can be realized by the new detection technology so as to detect fires at the early stage.

Abstract:Taking gases generated from combustion process as parameters to detect fire can increase the efficiency of fire detection.Among lots of measuring methods for gas concentration,the importance of tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy has attracted the attention of researcher increasingly due to its high selection and high sensitivity.A fire detection system was designed based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy,and efficiency of the fire detection can be enhanced by taking out background noise of spectrum and fitting intensity of laser.The experiments show that the detection system can respond well to the CO and CO_2 and the responses have a good linear relation,which can meet a demand for fire detection.
Application of Pyroelectric and Photosensitive Sensors in Intelligent Lighting

Abstract:The principles and structures of the pyroelectric sensor and the photosensitive sensor, as well as their application in commercial office building were introduced. Aiming at the two sensors’ characteristics, a lighting control strategy of typical office was made. Finally, the important role of the intelligent lighting control system in the building management was introduced. It was concluded that pyroelectric sensor and photosensitive sensor could improve the level of intelligent lighting control and save energy in practical use.

Abstract:The objective of this work is to experimentally evaluate photoelectric and ionization smoke detectors with both the real fire scenario and nuisance alarm sources. This work is accomplished through a series of experiments in the Fire Emulator/Detector Evaluator (FE/DE), The results indicate that the sensitivity of smoke fire detectors is closely related to the characteristics of the smoke around them. The results also show that the scattering photoelectric smoke detector is much more sensitive to the simulated dust and the nuisance alarm would occur more easily. Abstract:Smoke particle is one of the important parameters of fire detection, and particle image is the important characteristic of smoke particles. In this paper, particle images of fire smoke were acquired by Field emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and processed by a certain image processing method. From this work, the particle's fractal dimension and prefactor of the fire smoke of cotton wick, polyurethane and beech wood were obtained. Then, in order to get the particle size and its distribution of fire smoke, a new method of laser sheet imaging-based was developed. A set of experimental apparatus to capture smoke particles were designed, which included three parts: the smoke passage system, light scattering system and particle imaging system. From the experimental apparatus and image processing algorithm, particle images, particle sizes as well as their distributions of different fuels were acquired. So, this method provided us with not only the smoke particle morphology but also its size and distribution, which maybe benefit for the research of smoke detection technology.

Abstract:A kind of ultra-early fire detection system with high sensitivity and multi-parameter is introduced. The hardware of the system comprises smoke detecting module, CO gas detecting module, temperature detecting module and processing module. Optical measurement room of smoke detecting module is designed specially; it serves as a collimating and beam expanding unit as well as laser trap. It can detect the smoke of ultra-low concentration in the sample air by adopting high sensitivity photovoltaic cell and optimized amplifying circuit. The CO sensor has the characteristics of high sensitivity and quick response. It can detect CO gas of low concentration in the short time. Digital temperature sensor with high performance is applied in temperature detecting module. By adding the measurement parameters using the data fusion technology algorithm based on grey fuzzy neural network, the system has high precision and sensitivity. This system overcomes the weakness of some detecting system which only detects smoke concentration. Results of experiment show that: the detection sensitivities of smoke, CO gas and temperature are 0.005%obs/m, 0.5ppm and 0.1°C. The system can judge a fire occur and give an alarm in 15 seconds.
