Development of Advanced Coatings and Surface-sand Preventing Metal Penetration in Large-size Steel Castings by Furan Resin Sand Process

Abstract:The developed water based zircon powder coatings include base coating and surface coating. The coating possesses a good permeability of 2.6 mm with a desirable filling and anti thermo expansion of sand mold. The surface coating has a thick coating character of 1.1 mm with a good anti erosion character on liquid metal. The above double coatings combined with newly developed Z 1 sand can effectively prevent metal penetration in large size steel castings by no bake furan resin sand process.
