Abstract:In order to resolve the problem that a PID controller performance may decrease when the operating conditions changes if the system condition changes.This paper presents a special performance evaluation for the PID controller,optimization and control approach,namely:PID loop evaluation and optimization algorithms.The algorithm uses the system closed-loop input and output data,assesses PID controller performance according to MVC(minimum variance control)benchmark,finds the optimized PID parameters for the time-varying systems at the base of MVC;the assessment process The results with the real system output variance to compare PID parameters on-line optimization as a basis for judgments,when the actual system performance below a.certain standard time of the controller optimization.The assessment process will take the new output variance to compare with the real system output variance,the result become the basis for judgments.When the actual system performance below a certain standard,the algorithms will change the PID parameters as a optimization process.At the whole algorithm,the monitoring of input and output data lasting in the whole process become a monitoring for the PID control system.Simulation results show the validity of this method.In the context,if the system have a abrupt or gradual changing,the system can automatically evaluate and optimize the implementation to achieve stability after 1300 seconds.The cycle of evaluation and optimization algorithm for realistic performance can assess and monitor the system at the same time.with certain conditions,with a certain standard this algorithm can optimize the PID parameters and ultimately make the system have the selfmonitoring and selfassessment capacity.

Abstract:Because there exist uncertainties in practice, a real process often presents multi-model dynamic characteristics. Therefore, it is not easy to reach satisfaction performance by using a conventional PID controller. In this paper, the PID control method with neuron tuning parameters is proposed for multi-model plants. In this model-free control system, the PID controller is designed to control a multi-model plant and the adaptive neuron is used to regulate the parameters of the PID controller on line. By self-learning and associative searching, the adaptive neuron can modify the PID controller parameters according to the dynamic characteristics of the plant Applying the proposed method to the basis weight control of a paper machine, the simulation experiments are made. The results illustrate that the model-free PID controller is available to multi-model plants.

Abstract:A PID controller based on CMAC is applied to AC Speedregulation system of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM),which takes place of the controller of speed control of PMSM control system with double loop.The experiment results show the system used this method has quick respond,small overshoot and good robustness,and the system is superior to the traditional PI controller in dynamic and static performance.

Abstract:This paper applies the simulated annealing algorithm for PID controllers to deal with those motion control systems having constant disturbance. The main goal is to eliminate the steady state error of the system and minimize the integral time absolute error (ITAE) performance index. Three PID controllers, the ordinary PID controller, the increment PID (IPID) controller and the integral separation PID (ISPID) controller are compared. The result shows different controllers fulfill different control requirements.

Abstract:The optimal parameter tuning for PID controller is always the hot issue in the automatic control area.The method of optimizing PID parameters by using improved mind evolutionary computation(MEC) is proposed.On the frame of existing algorithm,self-adjusting operation is added.In accordance with the evolution direction and evolution time,two of the spread factors are adjusted automatically.The results of simulation show that the optimal PID controller based on SMEC offers satisfying performance and is better than that based on the genetic algorithm.

Abstract:There exists the disadvantages such as prematurity in particle swarm optimization because of the decrease of swarm diversity.In order to solve this problem,a new and improved version of particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed combining the global best and local best model,termed GLBest-PSO algorithm.This algorithm incorporates global-local best inertia weight with global-local best acceleration coefficient.The velocity equation of the GLBest-PSO algorithm is simplified and the performance of the algorithm is improved.The ability of the GLBest-PSO algorithm is tested with a set of bench mark problems and the results of the simulation show the validity and better optimization performance.The algorithm is proposed to design the parameter optimization of PID controller.The simulation results show that the optimal PID controller based on the proposed method has a satisfying performance and is superior to the conventional PID controller based on the conventional tuning methods.

Abstract:For BLDCM speed regulating system, the parameter’s self-adaptive fuzzy PID controller was constructed. A BLDCM simulation model was built, based on it a control system with close loops of speed and current was experimented. This controller improves the performance of the whole system by adjusting certain parameters of the self-adaptive Fuzzy-PID controller online.This strategy controller is proved to have faster dynamic andsmaller overshoot compared to PID controller both in simulation and experiment.

Abstract:There has been extensive interest in model algorithm control (MAC) and its application to industrial processes for dealing with time-varying parameters, uncertain characteristics. But the control based on basic MAC method still exists some problems. One of the problems is how to design MAC system to improve the robustness to prior choice of model. The second is how to use the adaptive algorithm for on-line estimation which doesn't need a huge amount of computational time that influence the regulation performance for engineering application. In this paper, a novel adaptive model algorithm control (AMAC) is developed with consideration for dealing with the model prediction error and bounded disturbances and noise, combined with the auto-stop parameter estimation technique. Based on this method, the complex system can be described with low-term system, which results in reducing computational time, and improving the robustness to model structure for effective control of complex chemical processes. Finally, according to the proposed AMAC method, two typical processes are studied by computer simulation. The results show this AMAC method is much advantaged with robustness to modelling error and different bounded disturbance and can be easily applied to control the complex processes.

Abstract:Aiming at serious problems of controlling packing pressure in injection molding processes with traditional PID algorithm, such as pressure overshoot,static error,time delay etc.,a mathematical model of the packing pressure system in injection process was established.Considering the behaviors of system,a new control device with CMAC and PID compound controller was designed. The experimental results show that,compared to traditional PID control, CMAC and PID compound control improves the pressure overshoot,static error and time delay of the packing pressure significantly,and makes notable progresses on quality and repeatability of products.

Abstract:Model predictive control technology has brought huge benefit in the refining/petrochemical industry and starts to attract attention of other process industries. However, sustainability is a big challenge in MPC applications due to its technical difficulties and high cost in human resources. In order to considerably reduce the difficulties and costs of MPC deployment and maintenance, we introduce an adaptive MPC controller. The adaptive MPC consists of three modules: an MPC control module, an online identification module and a control monitor module. The three modules work together coherently in real-time. During MPC commissioning, the online identification module and the MPC control module work together and perform various steps in MPC implementation automatically. When the MPC controller is online, the control monitor module continuously monitors the MPC performance and model quality. When control performance degradation and considerable model error are detected, monitor module will start the maintenance by activating the online identification module. The identification module will re-identify the model and replace the old model. Most of the steps can be done automatically under the supervision of the operator. The scarce control expert is only needed in controller design. A prototype of the adaptive MPC controller has applied successfully to two PTA units and the results will be reported.
On Parameter Design for Predictive Control with Adaptive Disturbance Model

Abstract:The step model widely used to estimate the unmeasured output disturbance in MPC at present has limited disturbance rejection performance. Adaptive disturbance model can estimate the disturbance dynamics better and improve the ability of disturbance rejection. Parameter design of the controller has great impact on the control performance. The disturbance rejection strategy of disturbance adaptation predictive control (DMCA) is analyzed in the paper, as well as the effects of controller parameters on system dynamic performance, robustness and disturbance rejection ability. In addition, design methods for parameters such as disturbance prediction horizon, orders of time series model and filter factor for output error are researched and then experience guidelines for the parameter design are summarized. Simulation results show that DMCA can decrease the integral of absolute value of error criterion for the controlled variable by 45% than Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC). The optimization design of controller parameters improves DMCA's ability of predicting and rejecting disturbance further.

Abstract:A new matching crossover real-code adaptive genetic algorithm base on the population maturity is presented to optimize the parameters of a PID controller. The individual is coded in real number, and its crossover probability varies according to the individual fitness and the population maturity in course of evolution. New individuals generated by the crossover between individuals with the best fitness and the second best fitness are added into the population to decrease the search size of the real-coded genetic algorithm. To a certain extent, this algorithm can improve the crossover efficiency of the real-coded adaptive genetic algorithm, solve the premature problem and generate new preponderant individuals much more efficiently. The experiments on the PID parameter optimization of a 6R series arc welding manipulators demonstrate that this algorithm can enhance the performance of searching global optimum and keep the population diversity at a high level at the same time. The optimization result of this algorithm is better than the one of the others.

Abstract:A model predictive current control (MPCC) with adaptive-adjusting method of timescales for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) is proposed in this paper to improve the dynamic response and prediction accuracy in transient-state, while lessening the computational burden and improving the control performance in steady-state. The timescale characteristics of different parts of MPCC, such as signal sampling, prediction calculation, control output, model error correction, are analyzed, and the algorithm architecture of MPCC with multi-timescale is proposed. The difference between reference and actual speed, and the change rate of actual speed are utilized to discriminate the transient state of speed change and load change, respectively. Adaptive-adjusting method of control period and prediction stepsize are illustrated in detail after operation condition discrimination. Experimental results of a PMSM are presented to validate the effectiveness of proposed MPCC. In addition, comparative evaluation of single-step MPCC with fixed timescale and proposed MPCC is conducted, which demonstrates the superiority of proposed control strategy.

Abstract:PID controllers have been widely used in many industries. They can provide robust and reliable performance for most systems. However, it is very important to tune the PID parameters properly. There is a large variety of methods for tuning the PID parameters. But none of them can cope with the wide system uncertainties. The main motivation in this paper is to present a design scheme of controllers using the LS-SVM which achieve to self-tune the parameter. This method used LS-SVM to identify the predictive model of the system off-line, then linearized the model in local on-line for reducing computation, and combined the general minimum variance to self-tune the PID parameters. The controller has a better effect than the conventional PID controller. Simulation study shows the effectiveness and good performance.

Abstract:By analying the PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine)mathematics model and conventional control means,the adaptive PID(Proportional Integral Differential)controller based on single neuron is applied to regu-late the velocity and torque of PMSM.A great deal of simulative analy-ses has been conducted.The study result shows that,this control means has better dynamic adju-stment property and adaptive capacity,while the controller design is easier and parameter adjustment is convenient .It is suitable for engineering application.

Abstract:Since the traditional cumbersome adjusting method that the constant can just be changed repeatedly and artificially, an improved single neuron adaptive PID control strategy, which adopted nonlinear algorithm for K, was presented. K and its changing rate were designed to adjust adaptively according to the error. Since the maximum and minimum value of K and their corresponding errors were quite important factors that influence the efficiency of this new algorithm, the design space searching rule was applied to obtain the optimal factors. By modeling the speed regulation of brushless DC motor with MATLAB/SIMULINK and using this improved strategy on the control model, the results of experiment prove that it can not only speed up the convergence rate, but also effectively settle the instability caused by the load disturbance comparing with traditional PID controller and original single neuron PID controller. Particularly, the robustness and quality of this improved controller are well verified by much smoother velocity response on condition of large load.

Abstract:Adaptive interaction algorithm,whose advantage is easy to implement,can perform gradient descent of control pa- rameters without any knowledge of plant.Based on adaptive interaction theory and classical PID controlling theory,an adap- tive interaction PID controller is developed.The good perform- ance of adaptive interaction PID is verified by the application of hydraulic edger screwdown system in Baosteel 2050 rough mill. The results show that the adaptive interaction PID controller achieves better performance than the classic one,especially,in the circumstance of foreign disturbance and working condition variation.

Abstract:In order to simplify the debugging process of magnetically suspended rotor system, a control method combined traditional PID control with internal model control (IMC) was proposed in this paper. Compared with the PID control with three adjustment parameters, the adjustment parameters of the IMC-PID is reduced to one. The simulation results show that the proposed method not only suppresses the overshoot, reduces adjustment time, but also has a certain ability of anti-disturbance and robustness. At last, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by experiments.
