Abstract:A new dechirp receiving method of wide band LFM signals-digital direct dechirp-sampling (DDD) is proposed. This method mitigates the difficulty in implementation of the analog part of a wide band LFM dechirp receiver and also improves the performance and stability of the whole system.

Abstract:Analog dechirp can effectively reduce the sampling frequency of wideband radar receiver and the computation load of the pulse compression. However, the amplitude and phase distortion, the frequency modulated nonlinearity and the distortion introduced by the mixer may reduce the quality of received signal. These problems can be avoided by adopting pulse compression after direct IF (Intermediate frequency) sampling. But the pulse compression based on matched filtering need to fulfill ultra-long points FFT/IFFT in real-time, which caused great difficulties to its application. Combining the benefits of this two methods, a digital dechirp method is proposed in this paper. By theoretical analyzing, the mathematical model is obtained. The data decimation and filter design is also analyzed in detail for its realization. Simulation and analysis based on real data proves the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed strategy.

Abstract:In order to improve the quality of the signal obtained by analog Dechirp method and reduce the computation load of matched filtering after direct IF(Intermediate frequency) sampling,a digital Dechirp method combing the benefits of these two methods is proposed in this paper.By theoretical analysis,the mathematical model is obtained,and the data decimation and the filter design are also analyzed in detail for the realization of method provided in this paper.Compensation approach for the system distortion is also proposed.Simulation and analysis based on measured data prove the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed strategy.

Abstract:With the development of high speed AD device and high performance general processor,the data acquisition of low frequency radar(for example:L-band) can be implemented on RF,which can reduce the information loss caused by the analog circuit.The background of this paper is the research of L-band digital array radar(DAR),it studies the method of synchronizing acquirement of multichannel high speed AD based on direct acquiring technology on RF.Then it puts forward an effective quadrature demodulation structure and an effective method of wideband channel equalization.Based on above technology an full digital receiving subassembly is developed successfully.Based on the analyzing result of working flow of DAR,it accomplishes successfully a processing unit with high performance and universal functions.
DDS Based Radar Signal Generator for Microwave Remote Sensing

Abstract:A system design of a Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) based radar signal generator is presented. The DDS technique has its inherent disadvantage in noise and spurious suppression, due to the all-digital structure. To overcome these disadvantages, we apply two efiective methods of a 3-order low-pass Butterworth fllter and the pre-distortion technique to greatly enhance the system performance. Microwave Remote Sensing (MRS) has become a targeted area of intensive research for its great application in diverse situations. Early MRS radar signal generators are analog devices with high- cost, short life, low reliability and low precision. At present, due to the advance of high-speed Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit (VLSI), the technique of Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) is being widely used to synthesize complex waveforms for applications in MRS. DDS makes it easy to precisely control and adjust the frequency, amplitude and phase of the required Chirp signals that are widely used in MRS. However, DDS technique has its inherent disadvantages in noise and spurious suppression, due to its all-digital structure. This paper presents a system design of a DDS signal generator for MRS. Besides, we put forward two methods to improve the spectrum purity. The flrst one is to design a low-pass fllter to improve the SNR, and the second one is to employ the pre-distortion method to make spectrum within band much ∞atter.
A Highly Efficient Digital Down Converter in Wide Band Digital Radar Receiver

Abstract:An improved design method for digital down converter (DDC) is proposed here to satisfy the increased requirements for miniaturization and low power consumption of signal processor in digital wide band radar receiver. Using the sampling technique that the sampling frequency equals to four times the intermediate frequency (IF) of echo signals, combining with the tap coefficient characteristics of half band finite impulse response (FIR) filter, a specific hardware structure is generated after detailed theoretical derivation. With this structure, the signal processing complexity and resource utilization are both reduced significantly, especially the multiplier blocks. Finally, compared with conventional design method, the design results based on FPGA show that the logical resources are saved by 83.65% and the power consumption is reduced by 110 mW, indicating the validity and good engineering applicability of this method.

Abstract:The analog to information conversion (AIC) via random demodulation (RD) has suffered the performance loss in reducing the sampling rate of linear frequency modulation (LFM) pulse compression radar, especially for the local non-sparse targets in high resolution environment. In this paper, a novel AIC scheme via the determinate chirp mixing sequence is proposed to deal with this problem. The determinate chirp mixing sequence is given in two modes with fixed time duration and fixed bandwidth, respectively. Due to the spread spectrum as well as the local narrowband characteristics in undersampling condition, the determinate chirp mixing sequence guarantees the reconstruction performance of local non-sparse targets with low hardware consumption. Performance analysis and simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of chirp mixing sequence in the restricted isometry property (RIP) and reconstruction performance of non-sparse targets for LFM pulse compression radar.

Abstract:Modern radar technology requires high-quality signals and detection performance. However, traditional frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar often has poor anti-jamming capabilities, and the high sampling rates associated with large time-bandwidth product signals can lead to increased system hardware costs and reduced data processing efficiency. This paper constructed a composite radar waveform based on noise frequency modulation (NFM) and linear frequency modulation (LFM) signals, enhancing the signal's complexity and anti-jamming capability. Furthermore, a method for optimizing the processing of echo signals based on de-chirp and delay matching is proposed. The locally generated LFM signal is used to de-chirp the received echoes, resulting in a narrowband difference frequency noise signal. Subsequently, delay matching is performed in the fast time domain using the locally generated NFM signal according to the number of sampling points in the traversal processing period, allowing for the acquisition of target delay information. While reducing the analog-to-digital (A/D) sampling rate, the detection performance for wideband echo signals under high sampling rates is still maintained, with sidelobe levels and range resolution preserved. Accumulating this information in the slow time domain enables accurate target detection. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through simulation experiments.

Abstract:This paper designs an integrated wideband and narrowband radar signal direct sampling and digital processing system based on FPGA. The system comprises a VPX case, a main board, a direct sampling board, a fiber board. It makes direct sampling of 1.8GHz-3.0GHz echo waves, with 3.2GHz sampling rate. The wideband and narrowband echo waves share the same ADC channel. After ADC sampling, both of wideband and narrowband data are exported to a mix-free digital quadrature demodulation module in FPGA. The narrowband data will be further processed by digital frequency down conversion. The wideband data will be further processed by digital de-chirp operation, with parallel DDS structure and multi-level decimation filters. Data rate of both the wideband and narrowband data after processing is decreased obviously. The designed sampling system cut down the analog radar signal processing operation, and decreases signal distortion. Besides, it integrated the reception, sampling and processing of wideband and narrowband signal, simplified the structure of radar system.

Abstract:DDC (Digital Down Converter) technology based on band-pass sampling is a key of high-speed digital signal processing. The band-pass sampling intermediate frequency DDC and radio frequency DDC technology are researched. The frequency transformation relations are proved and the problems in engineering realization are also pointed out. Abstract:A digital IF signal processing system for sinusoid-FM-CW radar is designed based on ADC+FPGA+DSP model.This signal processing system realizes the acquiring,detection and storage of target's Doppler signal using digital receiver and CFAR detection theory.It has the characters of small size,low power consumption and high reliability.It also has some kind of agility and expansibility.The function and parameter choice of the signal processing system is introduced,and then the algorithm of CFAR detection is analyzed.It is proved by experiments that the signal processing system overcomes the inherent disadvantage of the analog receiver circuits,increases the channel consistency and measuring precision.
A New Scheme for Pulse Integration of Direct Detection Radars

Abstract:Pulse compression can be performed in direct detection radars by using a newly proposed stepped time intervals coding pulse train and corresponding correlation algorithm. At the receiver end, the envelop-detected signal is processed through a modified cross-correlation algorithm which removes all the range false peaks, leading to a perfect range sidelobe performance. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the new approach. Furthermore, the approach is easy to be implemented and compatible to the conventional radars. It can be used in direct detection radars where Doppler information is not required or the radars which are difficult to provide coherence, such as short pulse laser radar (also called lidar) and ultra-wide band impulse radar. The proposed approach can also be applied to the upgrade of conventional non-coherent radars.

Abstract:A digital receiving scheme based on quadrature mixing and high sampling density digital filtering is presented according to zero intermediate frequency(IF) echoes characteristic of linear frequency modulated continuous wave(LFMCW) for active seeker.Comparing with traditional analogue receiving,the digital receiving scheme can not only significantly reduces complexity and size of hardware and data amount in flowing signal processing,but also can solve inconsistency of amplitude/phase between I/Q channels which often occur in analog circuits.Additionally,through real-time adjustment to digital receiving frequency and filtering bandwidth,a digital receiving structure is obtained;it can meet requirements of seeker both for target searching and tracking.Implementation of the system shows that the digital receiving scheme can meet miniaturization,low power consumption and high reliability requirements for missilebrone application due to its advantages such as compact structure,easy to control and stable performance.

Abstract:Owing that the bandwidth of radar signal is very small compared with the receiving bandwidth of electronic reconnaissance system, the received signal has sparse frequency spectrum in short time. The ultra-wideband digital receive method based on Analog-to-Information is proposed in this paper, which can obtain the capability of wideband digital receiving by low-speed sampling. Firstly, the analog signal is modulated by pseudo-random signal; next the signal is filtered by low-pass filter and sampled with low speed ADC; and then the original signal can be reconstructed by orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm. Finally, the simulation demonstrates that the original signal can be recon-structed even that the sampling speed goes down 8 times.
