Abstract:The RS(255,239) hardware decoder base on RiBM algorithm is put forward according to the need of a certain wireless optical communication system,and completing design and implemention of the decoder.The decoder is carried out by pipeline algorithm,and key module is implementated by RiBM algorithm.The test result shows that the performance of FEC system is good,the decoder described in this paper decrease the resource usage in great deal at an acceptable speed.

Abstract:Nordstrom-Robinson (NR) code is an optimum non-linear code of length 16, which is employed in Digital Terrestrial /Television Multimedia Broadcasting (DTMB) standard of China.In this paper a new soft-in-soft-out (SISO) decoder for the NRcode is presented. The decoding process is carried out in two steps. Firstly, an algorithm is performed to find out the most valuable codewords (MVC) set to reduce calculation complexity.Then, approximate soft information is computed based on the MVC set. Theoretical analysis and simulation results both show that the performance of the decoder is very close to ideal algorithm.

Abstract:To resolve the incapability of decoding Reed-Solomon (RS) codes of conventional RS decoders in IEEE802.16d system, optimized design architecture for rate-variable shortened-and-punctured RS decoder was presented. A symmetric generator polynomial was applied, and the number of Galois-field (GF) multiplications was reduced in the encoder. In the decoder, the key function was solved by altering the initial condition of the modified Euclid algorithm (MEA), and a novel shortened-and-punctured RS decoder architecture was proposed based on conventional punctured RS decoder. The design architecture was implemented and verified in field programmable gate arrays (FGPA) chips, and the maximum decoding throughput of six types of RS codes in IEEE802.16d system was analyzed at a particular working clock respectively. The results show that the proposed decoder architecture can achieve a decoding throughput of at least 30 Mbps, and satisfy the requirement of IEEE802.16d system.

Abstract:Based on the principle of FPGA reconfiguration,an architecture of hardware reusability is proposed for RS encoding and decoding,with the aim of solving the problem of high consumption of hardware resources by the traditional RS codec architecture.The logic circuit of the reconfigurable computing module in the codec can be changed according to the configuration information to meet the needs of different algorithms during the encoding and decoding process.The RS codec is acquired by VHDL and tested by Quartus II.The results indicate that the codec can satisfy a variety of errorcorrecting capabilities in RS decoding and encoding,improve the usability of hardware resources by the hardware reusable technique.

Abstract:A novel frequency shift keying (FSK) receiver is presented, including receiving antennas, a low noise amplifier (LNA), band-pass filters (BPF) and a novel all-digital 2-level FSK demodulator. The Mat lab simulation results of the all-digital FSK demodulator show that it can improve bit error ratio (BER) performance compared with pseudo-coherent FSK demodulation (PCFSK). The novel FSK demodulator defined using Verilog HDL is easy to be implemented on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and in CMOS integrated circuit. The whole FSK receiver designed and implemented on a PCB board can receive FSK signal and send the recovered data to computer through RS-232 interface.

Abstract:Based on the syndrome computation,modified Euclidean algorithm,Chien's-searching and Forney algorithm,a novel RS decoder for CMMB system is proposed and realized.The RS decoding algorithm is simulated with MATLAB,and then the decoder is functionally verified and synthesized with tools of VCS,Design Compiler and ISE,respectively.The results show that the gate count of our design is as small as the best structure.Our proposed RS decoder has been tested and applied in a CMMB system.

Abstract:A new step-by-step decoding algorithm is proposed for reducing the decode complexity of Reed-Solomon(12,9) code in ETSI DMR standard.The algorithm consists of syndrome computing,error locating and error computing.As compared with RS(255,239) and RS(255,249),the algorithm does not need much more ROM and complicated logical control.Inverse operation is also decreased and transformed into Galois Field multiplier.The algorithm is verified by being downloadied to Xilinx FPGA.

Abstract:In the inertial platform system, some data are transmitted by optical fiber under the control of the optical fiber transmission module. Some key data like platform control parameters have a direct impact on the state of the platform. So the accuracy of the control parameters must be guaranteed by error- correcting to ensure the security of the platform system. The fundamental and coding - decoding algorithm of RS codes are presented, and fast implementation of RS(15,11) codes based on DSP are designed.

Abstract:In this paper,a high throughput fully programmable Reed-Solomon(RS) decoder on a multi-core processor is presented.By fully extracting the parallelizable operations of the RS decoder,it proposes multiple optimization techniques to improve system throughput including: task-level parallelism on many cores,data-level parallelism on each SIMD core,minimization of memory access,and route-length-minimized task mapping techniques.For RS(255,239,8),it can achieve a throughput of 4.35 Gb/s at the worst case of the incoming codeword.

Abstract:This paper researched a kind of Reed-Solomon (RS) encoder under CCSDS standard,which used time domain coding method.It analysed the principle of Reed-Solomon(RS) encode,the design of basic unit circuit,including Galois field adder and multiplier,and addressed the application method of parallel multiplier with constant coefficients under the natural base.This paper designed a RS (255,223) encoder with symmetric coefficients of generator polynomial under the QuartusⅡ5.0 environment.In addition,figured out the simulation results,and results of the output were correct by the test.The RS (255,223) encoder designed by this method not only effectively simplifies the control unit and has the regular modular structure,but also is easy for FPGA implementation and can be used in high-speed occasions.

Abstract:VLIW structure is widely used in high-performance DSP architecture, and is of strong parallel computing ability.In the general DSP applications, only software design and optimization aiming at the specific model is done.In order to make better use of DSP resources, improve performance and reduce cost,this paper presents a kind of software and hardware co-design methodology.Through the example of RS decoding with Euclid algorithm, this proposed configurable VLIW DSP structure has fully demonstrated its performance advantages, achieves the optimization of software and hardware co-design for applications.

Abstract:In this paper, we use Altera corporation's RS、NCO、FIR IP core and some modules in the Simulink、DSP_Builder, fast build a low intermediate frequency RS (204,188) +DQPSK modulation/demodulation system, validating the system's function in Simulink and Modelsim environment , finally implementing the system in Stratix II DSP development board and testing the system . Simulation results show that RS (204, 188) coding gain of this scheme can achieve 3￣4dB at bit error rates around 1e- 3 compared with the uncoded DQPSK.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of complex architecture and large resource consuming in RS decoder,a dynamically reconfigurable RS decoder is presented.In the decoder,the syndrome calculation and Chien's search algorithm can be realized in the reconfigurable syndrome and Chien's module(RSCM) by reconfiguring the circuit architecture dynamically at discrete time.A decode control module based on state machine is given and is in charge of controlling the function modules in RS decoder.The design is realized by VHDL language in Quartus II 7.2.As it is shown in the result,the encoder could reduce the consuming in hardware resource,and the maximum frequency of this chip could reach at 124MHz.

Abstract:The existed RS codec is poor in commonality,thus we proposed a new codec circuit structure for multi-standard based on reconfigurable theory.The circuit structure could be reconfigured by inputting configuration information.The encoding theory based on Linear Feedback Shift Register(LFSR) was described and its realization was improved for reconfiguration.The parallel computation of syndrome was achieved by the iteration of multiplication and addition.The key equation was solved by using modified Euclidean algorithm,and the errors were located by Chien's search theory.The reconfigurable computation structures of two algorithms above were also presented.Analysis showed that it was obvious that the new scheme has good versatility which can satisfy the multi-standard of RS code by increasing only a little cost in resource.

Abstract:Applying the rules of polynomial in finite field,operation modules which can carry out addition,multiplication,inverse calculation in GF(28) were designed with MATLAB software.And an RS codec software based on these operation modules was implemented using modified Euclid’s algorithm(MEA) and Fast Fourier Transformation in finite field.This software can accommodate to both different primitive polynomials over GF(2n) with n≤8 and different error correction capabilities.The simulation result shows that the RS(255,223) decoder software has such advantages as high efficiency to meet the demand of real-time communication transmission.So it will be served as an efficient auxiliary technique for algorithm development and verification together with hardware design and debugging.
