Abstract:A vacuum-pumping deaerating device for hydraulic oil was designed.This device is based on the Henrys law.It can improve the bulk modulus of hydraulic oil and ameliorate the transmission rigidity and precision of hydraulic system.Simulation study of balancing the pressure of oil tank was carried out using the simulator of AMESim.The results show that the piston pressure accumulator in this device plays a role in stabling tank pressure and absorbing the pressure pulsations availably.

Abstract:The bio-lubricant from the agro-waste resource is a promising substitute to the petroleum-based lubricants, which conforms to waste utilization and sustainable development. In this work, a high performance biolubricant was obtained by dihydroxylation modifying the extract from the abandon aerial parts of Codonopsis pilosula. This biolubricant exhibits high resistance to thermal decomposition till 298.8 degrees C and excellent lubricity within the temperature range of 50-250 degrees C, characterized by the low friction coefficients of 0.108-0.129 and wear rates of 10-8-10-7 mm3/Nm. These excellent properties are superior and comparable to other biolubricant and mineral oils, resulting from the high adsorption ability of diol onto the solid frictional interfaces that forms a thick lu-bricity carbon film demonstrated by the transmission electron microscope. Due to the excellent thermal-stability and wide temperature lubricity, this biolubricant can be applied in the open mechanical systems like chainsaw and metal machining in agricultural and manufacturer industries.

Abstract:In view of requirements for better position accuracy, response time and stability of hydraulic system, it is more important than ever to pay attention to bulk modulus of hydraulic oil. In this paper, the effects of the bulk modulus of hydraulic oil on system performance and the entrapped air on bulk modulus have been analyzed. A method of online vacuum degassing in a sealed system has been used to increase the effective bulk modulus of hydraulic oil, and a device has been developed to measure oil bulk modulus online. The experimental results show that the bulk modulus of hydraulic oil can be controlled in real system effectively by the method mentioned above.

Abstract:Lubricant failure or irrational lubrication is the root cause of industrial equipment failure. By monitoring the distribution of the suspended particles in lubricants, it is possible to discover hidden lubrication problems. After taking the lubricating oil samples of industrial equipment, the oil monitoring technology is used to analyze the particle size distribution and the type and content of the abrasive particles by electrical, magnetic, and optical monitoring techniques. It is necessary to separate the suspended particles in oils with impurities by some method to eliminate potential safety hazards and ensure the reuse efficiency of the lubricant. In this paper, the principles, advantages, and disadvantages of several important oil monitoring methods are described, and new developments in various methods are analyzed. Several typical methods for separation of the suspended particles in purified oils were introduced. The advantages and disadvantages of each process were summarized. The development direction of lubricant monitoring technology was pointed out, and guidance was provided for the separation and online monitoring of the suspended particles in lubricants. Finally, compared with similar review papers, this paper specifically figured out that ultrasonic separation method has the advantages of real time, high efficiency, and no pollution and has important application value for micron-scale particle separation of large precision machines.

Abstract:For middle-pressure and high pressure gear pumps, the temperature failure problem of bearings is now of considerable concern due to their heavy loads. A self-circulating oil bearing system has been developed for gear pumps in this paper to solve this problem. A test rig has been designed and built to carry out a series of tests for variable loading directions and rotational speeds. An experimental investigation and numerical model development to predict the behaviour of the self-circulating bearing subjected to different loading directions is described. The experimental and numerical results agree well. It was found that the variation of loading directions has a strong effect on the oil flow rates of the system. The maximum oil flow rate can be achieved when the loading direction is along the hole axis direction and a considerable part of the friction heat can be carried away by the oil. The lubrication of the bearing will also be improved.

Abstract:From theoritical and experimental aspects, a study of residual carbon sedimentation features in residuum oil has been carried out. The result of study shows that the features of residual carbon sedimentation have relation both with: (1) the particle size and density distribution of the residual carbon proper; and (2) the temperature, viscosity and density of the residuum oil. The sedimentation of residual carbon can be retarded by decreasing storage temperature of the residuum oil. When the density of residual carbon and the density of residuum oil are almost identical, the sedimentation of residual carbon can not occur. Hence, the storing and heating temperature of non-stable residuum oil should appropriately be controlled.

Abstract:Purpose For moderate pressure and high pressure gear pumps, the temperature failure problem of bearings is now of considerable concern because of their heavy loads. However, the compact structure and the efficiency consideration make it extremely difficult to improve the bearing cooling. A self-circulating oil bearing system is developed for gear pumps with self-lubricating bearings to solve this problem. The oil is aspirated in from the low pressure chamber of the gear pump and discharged to the same chamber by using the pressure difference in the journal bearing, thus achieving the self-circulation. Design/methodology/approach An experiment test rig has been built for the feasibility study. The oil flow rate under different speeds has been recorded. Furthermore, the temperatures of the bearings with or without the oil circulation have been compared. Additionally, the oil flow in the test rig has been simulated using computational fluid dynamics codes. Findings The experimental and numerical results agree well. The experimental results indicate that the oil flow rate increases approximately linearly with the speed and the bearing temperature can be lowered successfully. The calculation results indicate that the bearing load capacity is nearly the same. Both the experimental and numerical studies establish that the self-circulating oil bearing system works successfully. Originality value As far as the authors know, it is the first time to find that the self-circulation can be built using the pressure difference in the bearing oil film, and this principle can be applied in the cooling and lubrication of the gear pumps to solve the temperature failure problem.

Abstract:Lubricant oil is used in the rotary compressor to lubricate the bearings and to seal the clearance of sliding parts. However, a portion of lubricant oil in the upper chamber will ultimately exhaust from the compressor through the discharge pipe, carried by the refrigerant. The accumulated lubricant in the pipes will deteriorate the heat transfer of the condenser and the evaporator, resulting in decreased efficiency. This work focuses on characterizing the pathway of lubricant droplets in a rotary compressor. In-situ measurements include lubricant spray penetration velocity at different phases in a rotating cycle and droplet velocities at different locations, i.e., lower cavity, above the rotor/stator, and at the discharge tube level, different frequencies, and different pressures via time-resolved shadowgraph. Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Optical Flow Velocimetry (OFV) are adopted to quantify the velocities of spray and droplets. The penetration velocity of the lubricant spray in the lower cavity, horizontal swirling velocity above the rotor/stator and at the discharge tube level, and the vertical recirculation velocity above the rotor/stator are characterized. The results support a droplet pathway model in the rotary compressor that can guide the optimization of the next-generation rotary compressors.

Abstract:This work analysed the principle of flocculation purification method and the flocculation purification effect of fully synthesized water-based cutting fluid under experimental conditions, and the anti-corrosion performance of the purified cutting fluid was studied. Then, the engineering application of flocculation purification method in the centralized liquid supply system was carried out to form a flocculation purification method suitable for the Centralized liquid supply and chip removal system of fully synthesized water-based cutting fluid. This work can provide an effective evolutionary method for the fully synthetic water-based chip cutting fluid of the centralized liquid supply system.

Abstract:In the process of air filtration, filter materials may encounter oil-solid mixed particles from various sources such as industry and household, and the influence of filter material with different wettability on the filtration performance of oil-solid mixed particles has not been fully reported. The objective of this study was to prepare filter materials with varying wettability properties and investigate their filtration performance for oil-solid mixed particles with diverse oil contents. In this study, four filter materials were prepared using the impregnation method, exhibiting 0° (superoleophilic), 46° (oleophilic), 90° and 122° (oleophobic) oil contact angles. The oil-solid mixed particles with varying oil contents were loaded on the four different filter materials. The loading behavior of the filter materials was characterized from two aspects: macroscopic loading behavior (changes in pressure drop and DHC) and microscopic particle deposition behavior. The results demonstrated that, under the conditions of 25% and 50% oil content, the enhanced liquid bridge force between the oil-solid mixed particles on the oleophobic filter material facilitated the formation of a loose and porous cake layer structure compared with other filter materials, resulting in a lower growth rate of pressure drop and a higher dust holding capacity (DHC). However, in 75% and 100% oil content environments, the superoleophilic filter material owned a remarkably high affinity for oil particles compared with other filter materials, leading to the gradual formation of an oil film structure on the filter material, yielding lower the growth rate of pressure drop and higher DHC. These findings shed light on the mechanism of particle deposition under diverse filtration conditions and are applicable to the filtration of various oil-solid mixed particles over a wide range of oil contents.

Abstract:Experiments were conducted to recover the oil from oil-contaminated soil. The artificial oil contaminated soil was confected by using the crude oil of Huabei Oilfield and the typical soil on North China Plain, with analysis of organic component and viscosity of crude oil, and the size distribution of the soil. Triton, peregal, nonylphenol ethoxylate and sodium alkyl benzene sulfonate, based on the qualitative comparison experiments between 10 kinds of surfactants, were selected for further experiments because of their higher efficiency of washing oil. The mixing experiments were conducted according to the Simplex-lattice design. Furthermore, the surfactant formulation was optimized by the neural network model. The results show three optimality surfactant formulation: (i) 3(triton)∶[KG-*2]1(sodium alkyl benzene sulfonate); (ii) 2(triton) ∶[KG-*2]1(peregal)∶[KG-*2]1(sodium alkyl benzene sulfonate); and (iii) 3(triton)∶[KG-*2]1(peregal)∶[KG-*2]2(nonylphenol ethoxylate)∶[KG-*2]4(sodium alkyl benzene sulfonate). In these three kinds of formulation, sodium carbonate and sodium silicate, the concentrations of which were from 30% to 50%, were used for the assistant reagent. The influence of factors such as agitate temperature, agitate time, solid-liquid ratio, agitate intensity and reagent concentration on the efficiency of oil washing were researched. The orthogonal experiment was conducted to optimize the process conditions. The result indicated that when agitate temperature is at 75℃, agitate time 50min, solid liquid ratio 1∶[KG-*2]20, agitate intensity 150r/min, and reagent concentration 0.3g/L, the efficiency of oil washing can be up to 90.15%, and that the oil floated on the surface without obvious emulsification, and was gathered through simple shaving. If the reagent concentration rise to 2.5g/L, the efficiency of oil washing may is beyond 98%.

Abstract:Contaminant is an important reason which causes the wind gear box failure.In order to study the effect of contaminant and wear particles on the gear box and guide the maintenance of gear box,the oil cleanliness level,moisture content and wear particle in the gear oils which were used in the 18 fans with normal operation for 4 years were tested.It is found that the oil cleanliness level in most gear oils cannot maintain in 17/15/11 (ISO4406),the oil cleanliness level of some oil are even as high as 22/20/16(ISO4406).The particle size of most particles in the contaminant is from 4 to 6 μm,the maximum number of grains per milliliter is up to 24 911.The water content and acid value of the gear oils are all in the normal range which have little harmful to the oil and the gear box.In addition,a certain degree of wear occurs in the gears and bearings of the normal operating fan,which is mainly fatigue wear,and the particle of the largest size is caused by sliding wear.

Abstract:Cutting fluid has cooling and lubricating properties and is an important part of the field of metal machining. Owing to harmful additives, base oils with poor biodegradability, defects in processing methods, and unreasonable emissions of waste cutting fluids, cutting fluids have serious pollution problems, which pose challenges to global carbon emissions laws and regulations. However, the current research on cutting fluid and its circulating purification technique lacks systematic review papers to provide scientific technical guidance for actual production. In this study, the key scientific issues in the research achievements of eco-friendly cutting fluid and waste fluid treatment are clarified. First, the preparation and mechanism of organic additives are summarized, and the influence of the physical and chemical properties of vegetable base oils on lubricating properties is analyzed. Then, the process characteristics of cutting fluid reduction supply methods are systematically evaluated. Second, the treatment of oil mist and miscellaneous oil, the removal mechanism and approach of microorganisms, and the design principles of integrated recycling equipment are outlined. The conclusion is concluded that the synergistic effect of organic additives, biodegradable vegetable base oils and recycling purification effectively reduces the environmental pollution of cutting fluids. Finally, in view of the limitations of the cutting fluid and its circulating purification technique, the prospects of amino acid additive development, self-adapting jet parameter supply system, matching mechanism between processing conditions and cutting fluid are put forward, which provides the basis and support for the engineering application and development of cutting fluid and its circulating purification.

Abstract:Aiming at the problem of commutation failure caused by impurities contamination in the oil that occurred in the on-load tap-changer, a platform for the test of impurities in the oil of the on-load tap-changer was built, and the breakdown test of the impurities in the oil of the on-load tap-changer was proposed. Methods, the test obtained the breakdown characteristics of the on-load tap-changer in oil with uniform carbon particle contamination, local carbon particle contamination, rust contamination, and paint skin contamination, and revealed the breakdown process of the on-load tap-changer under local carbon particle contamination. The uniform carbon particle pollution, rust pollution and paint pollution will basically not cause the tap changer oil gap breakdown, carry out the core inspection of multiple on-load tap-changers, and found carbon pollution, rust pollution and paint pollution, Suggestions for improving the structure, installation process, operation and maintenance of the on-load tap-changer are put forward, which is an important reference for the structural improvement and failure cause analysis of the on-load tap-changer.
Investigation on the lubrication component and mechanism for a biolubricant isolated from the agro-waste resource of Codonopsis pilosula

Abstract:Waste plant resource provides a new sustainable feedstock for the biolubricant, and purification of the effective components in biomass oil is vital to improve the performance of biolubricant. In this work, the crude extract of the aerial part of Codonopsis pilosula was divided into four different parts by petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, n-butanol and water, respectively. Their thermal stability, lubricating performances and mechanisms have been systematically investigated. In the four extracts, the petroleum ether extract displays the best thermal stability and lubricating performance over the entire test conditions, and other three extracts are confronted with lubrication failure at high loads and elevated temperatures. Triterpenoid saponin, typical for n-butanol extract exhibit the best lubricity at room temperature, followed by the fatty acid derivatives as phosphatidylcholine; flavonoid, and sugar exhibit poor lubricity. At high temperature, only the petroleum ether extract retains the good lubricity.

Abstract:<p>Being widely used in the exploration and development of shale gas, oil-based drilling fluids, however, produced a large amount of oily waste during the drilling process should be properly handled, or it might lead to serious secondary pollution. In this study, a biodegradable environmentally friendly degreasing agent CYJ-1 with good degreasing performance in greasy solid waste was synthesized, which possesses a degreasing rate at 93%. For the first time, the transition state theory, interfacial tension, and potential energy are used to analyze the degreasing mechanism of the degreasing agent. Also, around the wastewater and waste residues generated after the degreasing of oily drilling cuttings, wastewater "flocculation oxidation" treatment process and waste residue "solidification" treatment process have been developed. Field application of the harmless treatment technology of oily drilling cuttings was carried out in Xinjiang Yihe 2AH well and Santa 2-10 well. The application results show that the utilization of this technology is able to effectively solve the environmental pollution and resource recovery problems of oily drilling cuttings.</p>

Investigation on the influence of lubricant oil to the spray cooling system based on refrigerant cycle

Abstract:The spray cooling system based on refrigeration cycle is considered as an effective way for heat dissipation, however, its performance will be effected by lubricant oil of the compressor. In this paper, a test bench is built to study the influence of the lubricant oil RL68H on the heat transfer performance is experimentally investigated at different oil concentration, heat flux and mass flow rate. The results show that the heat transfer coefficient (HTC) decreases from 18000W/(m(2).degrees C) to 8000W/(m(2).degrees C) with oil concentration rising from 0.00% to 5.99%, when the input power and the mass flow rate are fixed at 60W and 2kg/h, respectively. We also studied the lubricant oil influence in the conditions of when input power is fixed and the mass flow rate is variable. The experimental results showed that lubricant oil had great influence on the spray cooling system based on refrigerant cycle, in order to improve the heat transfer performance, the lubricant oil concentration in the system should be reduced as much as possible.
