Abstract:Study on fast and quantitative reconstruction algorithms for dynamic SPECT(4 dimension) under fan-beam geometry is conducted.The correlated information along time axis of projection sequences is de-correlated using Karhune-Loève(KL) transformation.Then we reconstruct all or part of the components in KL domain with Novikov's inverse formula,which is deduced for fan-beam geometry.The results can be obtained by inverse KL transform.The reconstruction can compensate for the non-uniform attenuation effectively.The results are similar to those from iterative approaches while there construction time is greatly abbreviated.The proposed method can reconstruct 4D SPECT fast and quantitatively and thus has a good future in clinical applications.

Abstract:In order to resolve the no physical meaning negative frequency phenomena in Hilbert transform,the instantaneous frequency directed calculation method based on the local mean decomposition is researched.The steps of phase unwrap is presented.The direct method is compared with the direct quadrature.Because direct method and direct quadrature are equal in mathematics and have the same calculating result,direct method and direct quadrature can be thought as the same method.Direct method is also compared with the Hilbert transform,Teager energy method.Simulation and experimental results show that the direct method well reflects the signal phase modulation phenomenon,there is no obvious boundary distortion,and the instantaneous frequency is always positive.The direct method is applied in the analysis of rotating machinery vibration signals and a good result is achieved.

Abstract:This paper proposes a numerical approach based on the fractional complex transform and the homotopy perturbation method to solving the space-time frac- tional Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (mBBM) equation with Caputo fractional deriva- tive. Approximated solutions with high accuracy are provided without lineariza- tion or complicated computation. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the efficiency of this method.

Abstract:The seismic data usually is non-linear and non-stationary series, the time-frequency analysis technique has the capability to reflect the partial feature of signal in time domain and frequency domain as well. This paper studies four kinds of time-frequency analysis methods, including short time Fourier transform, Wavelet transform, also S transform and Wigner-Ville distribution. Theoretically writer used Ricker wavelet matching to simulate seismic data, in order to contrast with the real seismic records. On base of the results, it can be concluded that the generalized S transform presents better time-frequency localization precision and cross-terms suppressing. In order to better verify this theory, writer conducts several experiments in two different field, then analysis and elaborate both the advantages and disadvantages for these four time-frequency methods, in the meantime, the results also verified the superiority of generalized S transform.

Abstract:As the parameters of the photoelectric detector have important effects on the performance of the dispersive spectrometers, it is necessary to detail the discrete sampling process of the photoelectric detector array. In the present paper, the sampling model was setup, and the effects on the sampling results caused by the spatial frequency of the cosine signal, the width of the sampling pixel, and the initial phase of the sampling pixel position to the crest of the input cosine signal were discussed thoroughly in the frequency domain. By introducing the integral function, a general expression of the sampling modulation transfer function was given, and the concept and expression of the average sampling modulation transfer function was proposed. Since that expression eliminates the effect of initial phase, it is much more convenient to the practical applications. For the typical Gaussian spectrum produced by the dispersive spectrometer, the Fourier transform result of that spectrum was multiplied by the average sampling modulation transfer function to produce a functional expression of the modulation transfer function of the whole system. The average aliasing error of the sampling process was expressed as a function of spatial frequencies; the relationship between the peak value of the average aliasing error and the width of the Gaussian spectrum was discussed; and the critical value of the spectrum width to restore this spectrum precisely was proposed. That critical value is significant for providing guidance to the design and fabrication of dispersive spectrometers.

Abstract:The bi-color sinusoidal fringe patterns are used to depress the effect of zero frequency extension on fundamental frequency component in Fourier transform profilometry.A novel intensity-modulated method is proposed to eliminate the zero frequency component,which can improve the measuring precision and range.Two compounding monochrome fringe patterns with phase difference of π can be obtained by separating color channel of one color image.After calibration of intensity modulation and zero component elimination,the shape is obtained.The feasibility of the algorithm is validated by both theoretical simulation and experiment performance.Compared to the traditional phase shift method to eliminate the zero frequency component,this method has a significant advantage at speed and is suitable for real-time measurement of three-dimensional objects.

Abstract:Franck-Hertz experiment has witnessed that the energy exchanged in the process of the collision of electrons and mercury atoms is a fixed value. Meanwhile, this experiment also firstly proves the existence of stationary state level in Bohr's Theory of hydrogen atoms. This article mainly quantitatively analyses the formation cause of the curve shape in Franck-Hertz experiment based on the assumption of classical physics, and give a good physical image and explanation. At the same time it also proves that the rational use of the classical hypothesis can explain part of the quantum problems.

Abstract:Positron lifetime spectra have been measured in two kinds of carbon nanotube powders as a function of temperature range between 32 and 296 K. It has been found that all spectra are essentially temperature-independent in the above temperature range. The results of analysis show that there are three components in the powders of carbon nanotube with an average diameter of 30 nm, and four components in the powders of carbon nanotube with typical diameters of around 15 nm. The average values of lifetime components obtained at various temperatures are about 220, 390 ps, and 2.0 ns for the former, and about 140, 300, 650 ps and 6.4 ns for the latter.

Abstract:Positron analysis can reveal the information of atomic level defect of materials like metals or polymers through the study of Doppler broaden 511keV Â¿ spectra of positron with electrons that have different momentum distributions relating with the inner defect of materials. The usually used positrons come from isotope or accelerator positron source that irradiates the materials with positrons from outside. Because of the short range of positron in matter, only the surface of millimeter depth inside metals or polymers could be analyzed. To fulfill the demand of positron analysis inside the materials, high energy X-ray is used to produce positron. Two kinds of reaction is feasible, (1) is positron decay after the (Â¿, n) reaction of high energy photon with low photoneutron threshold nuclide, like N or Fe; (2) is the pair production. We use the first reaction in this paper. The algorithm to analyze the broaden 511keV Â¿ spectra is S factor or FWHM method. Maximum likelihood expectation method is also researched to deconvolute the spectra to remove the detector response for more precise electron momentum information extraction. We setup the facility with 15MeV LINAC and HPGe detector, and then test several specimens including low carbon steel, cast iron, aluminium and copper. The experimental results of five low carbon steel specimens show appreciable correspondence between positron analysis result and tensile elongation. This indicates that the atomic level defect of low carbon steel is within the range of positron analysis. On the other hand, cast iron, aluminium and copper do not show such relation. This is perhaps due to the void in these materials is so much that positron analysis method is saturated.
[A Laplace Transform Method for Analysis of Fluorescence Dynamics].

Abstract:A Laplace transform formula is developed for analysis of a multi-exponential fluorescence dynamic process. A dynamic spectrum function is introduced, calculation of which directly yields parameters of the corresponding dynamic process. The formula is applied to analyze fluorescence dynamics of beta subunit from R-phycoerythrin. It is demonstrated that electronic excited-states of the biomolecular system exhibit two exponential decay processes, the faster of which relates to excitation equilibrium among chromophores, and the slower to radiative relaxation of the chromophores.
A New Approach to the Improvement of FFT Spectrum Qualitity

Abstract:Noting the continuity of discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of a finite time series, an interpolation formula for the DFT spectrum based on corresponding fast fourier transform (FFT) is derived. According to the formula, a parabolic iteration method and a computer program for searching the frequency, amplitude. and phase of a spectral peak in a frequency interval of interest are presented. The iteration can converge to the required frequency with fairly good precision in only several steps. An investigation concerning the frequency resolution and the influence of window functions on the DFT spectrum are also made, and it is pointed out that the Hanning window is suitable for a whole view spectral analysis, while the rectangular window for the local spectral analysis.

Abstract:With continuing improvements on the quality of fabricated quantum devices, it becomes increasingly crucial to analyze noisy quantum process in greater details such as characterizing the non-Markovianity in a quantitative manner. In this work, we propose an experimental protocol, termed spectral transfer tensor maps (STTMs), to accurately predict the Rivas-Huelga-Plenio non-Markovian measure of any Pauli channels without state preparation and measurement errors. In fact, for Pauli channels, STTM even allows the reconstruction of a highly precise noise power spectrum for qubits. At last, we also discuss how STTM can be useful to approximately characterize non-Markovianity of non-Pauli channels via Pauli twirling in an optimal basis.

Abstract:A photonic approach for microwave spectral analysis based on Fourier cosine transform is proposed. The spectral information is obtained by processing a microwave power versus dispersion function, which is the product of the power spectrum of the signal with its spectrum to be analyzed and the power transfer function of the phase-modulated radio over dispersive link system. We demonstrate that the approach is capable of analyzing microwave signals with multiple frequency components. The sensitivity, the spectral resolution, and the effective measurement bandwidth of the scheme are quantitatively discussed.

Abstract:Current positron analysis technologies can not measure the defect inside samples because of the small range of positron produced from source outside.A new method of positron analysis,Photon Induced Positron Analysis (PIPA) is showed to solve the problem.When irradiating samples with Bremsstrahlung - induced X -ray based on LINAC,pair production takes place inside the material.Analyzing the annihilation photons helps reveal the information of micro - structure in the samples.Several issues of this method is studied quantitively by simulation with MCNP,like sensitivity and shielding parameters.As well,an experimental system is set up to measure the spectra shape of 511 keVγprecisely.With the analysis result of 511 keV full peak,the relationship between defect concentration and PIPA result is appreciable.
An analytic, moment-based method to estimate orthopositronium lifetimes in positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy measurements

Abstract:The presence of tumor hypoxia is known to correlate with poor patient prognosis. Measurement of tissue oxygen concentration can be challenging, but recent advancements using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) in three-dimensional positron emission tomography (PET) scans have shown promise for hypoxia detection. In this work, a novel method for estimating the orthopositronium lifetime in PALS is presented. This method is analytical and uses moments of the time-difference histogram from photon arrival times. For sufficient statistical power, the method produces monotonic, stable estimates. For cases with a lower number of photon counts, the method was characterized and solutions are presented to correct for bias and estimation variability.

A positive and moment-preserving Fourier spectral method

Abstract:This paper presents a novel Fourier spectral method that utilizes optimization techniques to ensure the positivity and conservation of moments in the space of trigonometric polynomials. We rigorously analyze the accuracy of the new method and prove that it maintains spectral accuracy. To solve the optimization problem, we propose an efficient Newton solver that has quadratic convergence rate. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the high accuracy of the proposed method. Our method is also integrated into the spectral solver of the Boltzmann equation, showing the benefit of our approach in applications.

Abstract:In this study, a fully self-consistent method was developed to obtain the wave functions of the positron and electrons in molecules simultaneously. The wave function of a positron at room temperature , with a characteristic energy of approximately $0.04 eV$, was used to analyse the experimental results of its annihilation in helium, neon, hydrogen, and methane molecules. The interactions between the positron and molecule provide a significant correction in the gamma-ray spectra of the annihilating electron--positron pairs. It was also observed that high-order correlations offered almost no correction in the spectra, as the interaction between the low-energy positron and electrons cannot drive the electrons into excited electronic states. More accurate studies, which consider the coupling of the positron--electron pair states and vibration states of nuclei, must be undertaken.

Fourier Transform Ion Trap Mass Analysis by Deciphering Ion Ejection Signals in the Frequency Domain

Abstract:Mass analysis in an ion trap is conventionally realized through time domain analysis of the ejected ion current collected from an electron multiplier (EM), in which the ion ejection time is found to have a correlation with the mass-to-charge (m/z) ratio of the ion. In this study, we investigated a new method for mass analysis by examining ion ejection signals in the frequency domain. Theoretical analysis and ion trajectory simulations show that ions of the same m/z ratio are ejected from an ion trap at regular intervals, producing a periodic pulsed signal on the EM. The period of this pulsed ejection signal is directly linked to the m/z values of the ions. To realize this method experimentally, a broadband preamplifier was built and integrated on a miniature ion trap mass spectrometer (the "Brick" series from Nier Inc.) to capture this pulsed ion ejection signal collected from the EM. Experimental results were in good agreement with theoretical and simulation analyses. This method has the potential to improve the mass resolution of an ion trap mass analyzer. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, a peak width of 0.1 Da at a m/z value of 281 was achieved in experiments.
