Abstract:This paper firstly points out that the lack of original innovation in hi-tech related to the malady of Five emphases, five neglectsin Chinese higher education, which is emphasizing science and technology, neglecting humanity; emphasizing specialty, neglecting basis; emphasizing books, neglecting practice; emphasizing commonness, neglecting individuality; emphasizing benefits, neglecting quality. Emphasizing science and technology means valuing some scientific knowledge and methods, but neglecting scientific ideas, scientific spirit, and the whole science for obtaining the quick benefits. This paper also analyzes the theory that science the basis for success, and humanity the basis for becoming humane. Humanity education has at least two great functions, which are cultivating and enhancing thoughts and feelings, and inspiring and perfecting thinking ability. Finally, this paper points out that practice the basis for the integration of science and humanity, which beneficial to the formation of correct pursuit of life, integral knowledge basis, excellent thinking quality, healthy life style, and harmonious personal relationship with the outside world. But all these depend on the combination of learning, thinking and practicing, which benefits the innovation.
