Abstract:The compounds YTi (Fe1-xNix)11 are found to crystallize in the ThMn12-type tetragonal structure (space group 14/mmm) when x1-xNix)11 has been studied and explained in terms of the interatomic distance dependence of exchange interaction between Fe atoms.

Abstract:The magnetic properties and 57Fe Mössbauer spectra of the compounds YTi(Fe1−xNix)11 were investigated. The compounds crystallize in a ThMn12-type structure when x < 0.7. The substitution of nickel for iron results in an increase in Curie temperature with x < 0.5, and a peak is observed in the composition dependance of saturation magnetization at x = 0.07. The Mössbauer effect measurements were carried out at room temperature with x equal to 0.00, 0.04, 0.08 and 0.20. The best fits indicate that nickel atoms preferentially occupy the j and f sites. A maximum was found in the variation of hyperfine field as a function of nickel content, which is in good agreement with the results of magnetic measurements.

Abstract:The substitution effects of Fe with T on magnetic properties of YTi (Fe 1−x T x ) 11 , where T represents Co, Ni, and Si, have been investigated by x-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. Lattice constants decrease with increasing the content of Co, Ni and Si. Saturation magnetizations were measured with a field of up to 70KOe at 1.5K. Curie temperatures increase monotonically with increasing the content of Co and Ni. A maximum occurs in the variation of saturation moments as a function of concentration in the compounds of YTi(Fe 1−x Co x ) 11 and YTi(Fe 1−x Ni x ) 11 . A change in easy magnetization direction from the c-axis is observed at room temperature in YTi(Fe 1−x Co x ) 11 compounds by increasing the Co content x. Saturation magnetizations and Curie temperatures both decrease with the increasing of Si content.

Abstract:Neutron diffraction experiments on Y(Ti,Fe)12 have been carried out to investigate the crystallographic structure and magnetic properties of these compounds. In the ThMn12-type structure, with a space group of I4/mmm, Fe and Ti atoms are distributed on three nonequivalent crystallographic sites. A preferential site occupation for Fe and Ti is observed. The detailed analysis of crystallographic and magnetic arrangement are reported.

Abstract:YTi(Fe1-xCox)11 crystallizes in the ThMn12-type tetragonal structure, with x ranging from 0.0 to 1.0, the Curie temperature increases with the increase of Co content. In order to understand the relation between magnetic properties and microst-ructure of these compounds, we studied their M?ssbauer spectra. The M?ssbauer effect measurements were carried out at room temperature on YTi(Fe1-xCox)11, with x equal to 0.0, 0.2 and 0.4. The best fits confirm that Co atoms preferentially occupy the j and f sites. The hyperfine fields of the measured samples reach a maximum at x = 0.2,which is in agreement with the results of magnetic measurements. By comparing the experimental results of M?ssbauer spectra of YTi(Fe1-xCox)11, Y2(Fe1-xCox)14B and YTi(Fe1-xNix)11, we analyze the difference of the 3d band structure between YTiFe11, and Y2Fe14B.

Abstract:A neutron diffraction study was carried out on a powder sample of the composition YTiFe11N0.5 at 300 K. Neutron diffraction measurements not only confirm that the nitride maintains the tetragonal structure of its virginal compound YTiFe11 (ThMn12-type, I4/mmm), but also indicate that the nitrogen atoms occupy the interstitial 2b sites. A detailed analysis of the crystallographic and magnetic structure is presented, and the relationship of the magnetic properties to the crystallographic structure is discussed in this paper.

Abstract:Neutron diffraction experiments on Y(Ti, Fe) 12 have been carried out to study the crystal structure and magnetic properties of Y(Ti Fe) 12 The crystal structure of Y(Ti Fe) 12 belongs to the ThMn 12 type structure, its space group is 14/mmm. Fe and Ti are distributed on three nonequivalent crystallographic sites, and they occupy some sites preferentially. Finally, the results are discussed primarily.

Abstract:> The crystallographic structure and intrinsic magnetic properties have been investigated in the RTiFe 11 ,RTiCo 11 and RTi(Fe 1-X Ni X ) 11 compounds,where R represents Nd,Sm,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho,Er and Y.Neutrondiffraction and Mossbauer spectra analyses have been used to study the nuclear and magnetic structure ofthese compounds.the Fe,Co,Ni and Ti atoms are found to exhibit strong site preference with f and j sites fa-voring Fe,Co and Ni atoms and the i site Ti atoms.Two different types of magnetic behavior were observed inthe RTiFe 11 and RTiCo 11 compounds.In the former,the interatomic distance and the number of nearestneighbor atoms play essential roles.In particular,anomalous thermal expansion behavior is presented inRTiFe 11 .In the latter,the magnetic properties are essentially determined by the modification of the cobaltelectronic configuration brought about by the transfer of rare earth conduction electrons to the transition 3dband.The saturation magnetization,Curie temperature and magnetocrystalline anisotropy data of RTiFe 11 ,RTiCo 11 and YTi(Fe 1-X Ni X ) 11 are presented.A tempt to improve the intrinsic magnetic properties inRTiFe 11 has been made,and the results are reported.On the basis of the crystalline field theory by using asingle-ion model,the anisotropy constants and their temperature dependence of the R ions have been calcu-lated,which helps explain the spin reorientation observed in RTiFe 11 .

Abstract:Magnetic and structural properties of YCo12-xTix compounds have been investigated ly x-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. X-ray diffraction patterns of aligned powder samples indicate that the easy magnetization direction at room temperature is along the c-axis for all the compounds. The lattice parameters increase monotonously while Curie temperature Te decreases with increasing Ti content. It was found that all the compounds investigated are strong ferromagnets by analysis of magnetic moments using a magnetic valence model. The values of;anisotropy fields B-a at room temperature and 1.5 K decrease with increasing x. The easy-axis anisotropy of the YCo12-xTix compounds is mainly contributed by the Co atoms at Si sites according do the individual-site-anisotropy model.

Abstract:The structural and magnetic properties of Y(Fe1-xMnx)(12) compounds and their nitrides (x = 0.2 and 0.4) have been studied by using X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. It is found that the lattice parameters increase, while the saturation magnetization and Curie temperature decrease with Mn content increment in Y(Fe1-xMnx)(12) compounds. Y(Fe0.8Mn0.2)(12) compound shows a weak easy-c axis magnetization direction, but Y(Fe0.6Mn0.4)(12) compound is in a paramagnetic state at room temperature. Upon nitrogenation, the lattice parameters, Curie temperature are notably increased and the saturation magnetization is greatly increased by about 50%. The easy magnetization direction for both compound nitrides all lies in the basal plane at room temperature.

Abstract:Structure measurements on the carbide Y(TiFeC)12 prepared by arc-melting were carried out by means of powder neutron diffraction. Data analysis by profile technique showed that the carbon atoms occupy the 8i sites in the ThMn12 type structure, substituting for some Fe atoms. The large electronegativity of carbon on the 8i sites explains the observed effect of carbon on the intrinsic magnetic properties of RTiFe11, which is completely different from that of the interstitial nitrogen.

Abstract:Structure and magnetic properties of (Nd1−xYx)3Fe29−yCry compounds with x=0–1.0 and y=4–1.5 have been investigated. It is found that in an adequate annealing temperature range all the investigated compounds crystallize in the Nd3(Fe,Ti)29-type structure. However when the annealing temperature is below 1323K, the Y3Fe27.5Cr1.5 compound crystallizes in a disordered CaCu5-type structure. Substitution of Y for Nd leads to a reduction of the lattice parameters. The Curie temperature Tc shows no clear change as the Y and Cr contents change in the above-mentioned concentration region. With increasing Y content, the easy magnetization direction changes from close to the [040] direction to the [40−2] direction. The X-ray-diffraction patterns and the AC susceptibility of the (Nd1−xYx)3Fe29−yCry samples reveal a spin reorientation phenomenon for x=0–0.4 as the temperature decreases from room temperature to 77K. The spin reorientation temperature Tsr increases monotonically with increasing Y content from 158K for x=0 to 201K for x=0.4.

Abstract:The structural and magnetic properties of mixed compounds Tb1-xYxFe11Mo with x = 0-1.0 have been investigated by means of x-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The compounds crystallize in the tetragonal ThMn12-type structure with space group I4/mmm. The lattice parameters a, c and the unit-cell volume V vary slightly with the Y content, since the atomic radius of Y is close to that of Th. The Curie temperature of the compounds increases for x <= 0. 1, then decreases with the increase in the Y concentration. Spin reorientation phenomena in the Tb1-xYxFe11Mo compounds have been studied in detail. The room temperature easy-magnetization direction of Tb1-xYxFe11Mo compounds changes from planar to the c-axial with increasing Y concentration. Variation of the anisotropy constants of the Fe-sublattice K-1(Fe) (T) with temperature is determined experimentally. By minimizing the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy, the derived spin reorientation temperature for the Tb1-xYxFe11Mo system shows reasonable agreement with the observations.

Abstract:We have succeeded in introducing moderate quantities of nitrogen into TbTiFe11 and DyTiFe11 compounds. X-ray diffraction showed that the ThMn12-type structure is retained, but that the unit cell volume is slightly increased. More significantly, the nitrogenation has quenches the spin reorientations in TbTiFe11 and DyTiFe11, and has made the easy magnetization directions (EMD) of their nitrides along the c axis from 0 K to Curie temperatures.

Abstract:A systematic investigation of structure and magnetic properties of the compounds R3Fe29-xTx (R=Y, Ce, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, and Dy; T=V and Cr) and their nitrides, carbides and hydrides has been performed. The nitrogenation and carbonization lead to a good improvement in the Curie temperature, the saturation magnetization and anisotropy fields at 4.2 K and room temperature, but the hydrogenation results in a good improvement for some hydrides and an obvious degeneration for other hydrides in the magnetic properties. The uniaxial anisotropy and the good intrinsic magnetic properties of Sm3Fe29-xTxNy and Sm3Fe29-xTxCy make these compounds the hopeful candidates for new high- performance hard magnets.

Abstract:A series of Y(Fe, M)12 compounds and their hydrides and nitrides, where M  Ti, V, Mo, Cr, W, were prepared single phase. The effects of interstitial H and N atoms on the structural and magnetic properties have been studied by using the X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The hydrides and nitrides still retain the tetragonal structure, but the unit cell volumes are expanded compared to their original counterparts. The saturation magnetization and Curie temperature are increased by both hydrogenation and nitrogenation, whereas the easy c-axis anisotropy related to the Fe-sublattice is enhanced in the hydrides but decreased in the nitrides.
