Abstract:Nanostructured TiO2 anti-bacteria powder loaded with silicon,sliver and nickel was repared by sol-gel process from tetrabutyl titanate as raw materials in air atmosphere.Changing the calcined temperature from 450℃ to 700℃.The ultimate result was characterized in terms of TG-DSC,XRD,and SEM techniques.Using bacteriostatic experiment to make sure the powder has good anti-bacteria performance.The result showed that it can prevent the formation of reunion to reduce the size effectively through coated with SiO2.It makes anatase titanium dioxide under this condition.The powder which was not coated with SiO2 had better anti-bacteria performance than the powder which was coated with SiO2,and the powder which was calcined at 700℃ had the best anti-bacteria performance.

Abstract:The nano-TiO 2 particles were prepared by liquid hydrolysis method and characterized using XRD. Its antibacterial activity against two representative bacterial, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, was also studied. The experimental results showed that the nano-TiO 2 calcinated at 600–700 °C contained the obvious anatase phase and exerted excellent antibacterial activity. The feature of antibacterial activity of nano-TiO 2 was non-strains specificity and exerted best antibacterial activity at concentration of 0.8 g/L.

Abstract:In this study,precursor of nano-TiO2 was prepared from industrial H2TiO3 and 98% sulfuric acid in continuous acid dissolution and pyro-hydrolysis.The precursor was embedded with silver in the form of Ag3PO4.The optimum parameters for the preparation was the ratio of H2TiO3 to H2SO4 in dissolving process=3 and time=150-180 min,hydrolysis time=100-120 min.After dried with a sprayer and thermal treated at 450 ℃,500 ℃ and 550 ℃,the TiO2 present in the product was in anatase phase and without simple silver saline phase based on the analyses of X-ray Diffraction(XRD).The particle size of product Ag-embedded nano-TiO2 was in the range of 20~80 nm.The minimum inhibitor concentration(MIC) of the product was 100 ppm and the efficiency of sterilization was 99.99%.

Abstract:TiO2 has been generally studied for photocatalytic sterilization, but its antibacterial activities are limited. Herein, TiO2 nanospheres with rutile/anatase heterophase junctions are prepared by a wet chemical/annealing method. The large BET surface area and pore size are beneficial for the absorption of bacteria. The rutile/anatase heterojunctions narrow the bandgap, which enhances light absorption. The rutile/anatase heterojunctions also efficiently promote the photogenerated carriers’ separation, finally producing a high yield of radical oxygen species, such as •O2− and •OH, to sterilize bacteria. As a consequence, the obtained TiO2 nanospheres with rutile/anatase heterojunctions present an improved antibacterial performance against E. coli (98%) within 3 h of simulated solar light irradiation, exceeding that of TiO2 nanospheres without annealing (amorphous) and TiO2 nanospheres annealing at 350 and 550 °C (pure anatase). Furthermore, we design a photocatalytic antibacterial spray to protect the file paper. Our study reveals that the TiO2 nanospheres with rutile/anatase heterojunctions are a potential candidate for maintaining the durability of paper in the process of archival protection.

Abstract:In this work anatase TiO2 nanotubes were prepared by hydrothermally treating a suspension of anatase TiO2 particles in alkaline solutions without the following calcination process. Ag nanoparticles and Ag ions were both loaded on TiO2 nanotubes by immersion in AgNO3 solutions followed by ultraviolet light radiation. The chemical and morphological features of the products, and the Ag release properties were investigated. The results demonstrated that the "open-ended" anatase TiO2 nanotubes with diameters of about 10 nm and lengths of over 100 nm were successfully prepared; 15.3 wt% of AgNO3 was loaded into the hollow tubular nanostructures and 9.2 wt% of Ag nanoparticles adhered uniformly to the walls of the nanotubes. The "open-ended" hollow tubular nanostructure of TiO2 nanotubes could act as a controller for the Ag release, and this endowed the Ag-TiO2 nanotubes with an extended antibacterial period. The long-term antibacterial activities of the resultant Ag-TiO2 nanotubes were examined against both Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria. It was confirmed that the "open-ended" hollow tubular nanostructure of TiO2 nanotubes and the dual action of Ag nanoparticles and Ag ions allowed the Ag-TiO2 nanotubes to attain long-term antibacterial activity, which enhanced the antibacterial performance of Ag-based antibacterial agents.

Abstract:Anatase titania nanoparticles with a high surface area (about 587.7 m(2)/g) were synthesized by sol-gel method using isobutyl alcohol as solvent, and then anatase titania nanotubes with needlelike shape, which had diameters of about 5 nm and wall thickness of about 1 nm, could be obtained by microwave process using the above titania nanoparticles as precursors. Both titania nanoparticles and nanotubes were characterized through X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm technique. The antibacterial activities of both titania nanoparticles and nanotubes against Escherichia coli (E. coli) were developed by quantification and qualitative ways, e. g. microcalorimetric method and disk diffusion method. At the same time, their antibacterial activities against E. coli were also investigated in dark and under UV irradiation. As a result, both the titania nanoparticles and nanotubes had good antibacterial activities against E. coli due to their low inhibitory concentration and large diameter of antibacterial circle. In addition, the titania nanoparticles displayed higher antibacterial activities than those of the titania nanotubes under UV irradiation, though they presented similar antibacterial activities in dark. The differences in antibacterial activities between titania nanoparticles and nanotubes might be attributed to the changes of their microstructure in our works. (C) 2011 Elsevier Masson SAS. Abstract:With anatase nano-TiO2 and Ce(NO3)3 as raw materials, the nano-Ce/TiO2 inorganic antibacterial agent have been prepared by impregnation method. The antibacterial activities was evaluated with the halo method and the antibacterial mechanism was studied. The results show that the nano-Ce/TiO2 inorganic antibacterial agent has outstanding antibacterial activities and the antibacterial mechanism is of rare earth cerium ion dissolving.

Abstract:Antibacterial powders of titanium dioxide/silver sulfate were produced by heat-treatment of the metatitanic acid, as precursor, into which the silver nitrate was added. The influences of heating temperature on the structure and composition of the product were investigated through XRD and SEM. The results show that the powder is spherical in the phase of TiO2-Ag2SO4. The granularity of the particles increases from 10.7 nm to 28.7 nm with the temperature of heat-treatment increasing from 300 degrees C to 800 degrees C. The antibacterial activity of the powder was judged in the way of the minimum inhibitory contents (MiCs). When the content of silver sulfate is less than 2%, the photocatalysis of titanium dioxide and silver ions cooperate to kill bacteria. And the MiCs decrease and keep around 1.0 x 10(-4) - 1.5 x 10(-4) constantly with the increase of silver content. Furthermore, the MiCs decrease with the increase of temperature of heat-treatment when the temperature is lower than 500 degrees C. But when the temperature is beyond 600 degrees C the MiCs increase quickly, which shows the inferior antibacterial performance.

Abstract:As an important nanomaterial,nanometer TiO_(2) has wide applications in many fields,such as catalyst supports and ceramic materials.The characteristics of nanometer TiO_(2) are briefly introduced.The characteristics and study progress of preparation processes of nanometer TiO_2 including gas phase process,liquid phase process and solid phase process are summarized.Especially,the liquid phase process,which is commonly used at present,divided further into hydrolysis method,precipitation method and sol-gel method etc.is described emphatically.On the above basis,the developing features and shortages for the preparation of nanometer TiO_2 in China are analyzed.It is pointed out that the development trend of nanometer TiO_2 in China is towards promoting the size control and the aggregates dispersing and controlling.In addition,the purity,chemical composition,uniformity of the microstructure and stability of the product are also needed urgently to solve.

Abstract:Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) are photo-active metallic nanoparticles becoming promising agents in modern biomedical applications. Herein, a novel process for the synthesis of TiO2 NPs with high stability was developed by a sol–gel process and to investigate their cytotoxicity and antibacterial activity. Numerous experiments have been performed to confirm the morphologies, compositions, and physicochemical properties of prepared TiO2 NPs, such as field emission scanning electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, Zeta potential, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. MTT assay was applied to assess the cytotoxicity of the prepared nanoparticles. The results indicate that the synthesized nanoparticles' diameter is about 68 nm and contains the anatase phase, in the range of 2θ from 25 to 80 °C. The hydrodynamic radius of nanoparticles is about 140.4 nm, and the zeta potential of nanoparticles is about −44.6 mV. The MTT results have not shown any toxicity; the antibacterial inhibitory effect of TiO2 NPs at 200 mg/mL concentrations exhibited superior antibacterial activity at 15.9 ± 0.1, 14.0 ± 0.1 against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, respectively. In conclusion, colloidal solutions with high stability were successfully synthesized, contributing to decreased dimensions and increased antibacterial properties.

Abstract:TiO_2 hollow spheres were prepared by hydrothermal precipitation method using titanium sulfate and carbamide as the original raw materials and carbon spheres as the templates, and Ag-doped TiO_2 hollow spheres were synthesized by adding KBH_4 to reduce AgNO_3 using PVP as a dispersant. The obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffractometer, scan electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometer and infrared spectrometer. Experimental results showed that P25 and TiO_2 hollow spheres had no antibacterial effect in the inactivation of Escherichia coli (E. coli), Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), and Candida albicans (C. albicans) under the natural light conditions, when inhibition zone method was tested for their antibacterial properties. But TiO_2 hollow spheres doping 9.4 mol % of the amount of Ag had excellent antibacterial properties against the above three strains at room temperature. So they can be used for antibacterial plastics, antibacterial food packaging and antibacterial textiles and other fields.

Abstract:According to researches on nano-titanium dioxide thin film materials at home and abroad in recent years,vacuum evaporation method,sputtering method,sol-gel method,chemical vapor deposition(CVD) method were reviewed,and the current preparation technology of titanium dioxide thin films and the latest research trend and the applications in environmental protection were also discussed.Titanium dioxide thin-film materials have broad application prospects in the field of photovoltaic conversion,bio-medicine,anti-bacterial self-cleaning,and so on.Finally,its development trend is prospected for the further study.

Abstract:The antibacterial property of nanometer TiO_2 spray on solids surface was carried out with the MR-VP method for counting the amounts of bacteria. Paper and ceramic tile were coated by the spray and used for antibacterial test. The results demonstrated that the TiO_2 nanometer spray and its composite samples had very good disinfection for E. coli, which can reach to 100%. The ceramic tile coated by the spray and treated under 600℃ bad good ability to disinfect bacterium. Therefore, the nanometer TiO_2 can be used on the solid surface for antibacterial utilization.

Abstract:TiO 2 nanomaterials are widely used in the antimicrobial field, but their use conditions are limited because of their large bandgap width. By improving the morphology and structure of TiO 2 nanomaterials and composite with other substances, this shortcoming can be effectively improved. In this paper, the morphology and structure of TiO 2 nanocomposite antibacterial materials are introduced first. Optimizing the TiO 2 nanostructure can maximize its photocatalytic activity and improve antibacterial efficiency. Secondly, the types and application scope of TiO 2 nanocomposites are introduced, the current research status of TiO 2 nanocomposites is described, the latest research results of TiO 2 nanocomposite antibacterial materials and the possible challenges and limitations of TiO 2 nanocomposite antibacterial materials in practical applications are understood. Then, the widely used antibacterial material standards are described, and the commonly used antibacterial detection methods are summarized from the standards. Finally, the summary and prospect are made. It is of great social significance and economic value to develop inexpensive, efficient, safe, and non-toxic TiO 2 nano-antibacterial materials in the future.
