Abstract:Manufacturing sectors of China develops faster these years, which attracts the world's eyes. However, producer-service plays a significant role in growth of manufacturing. This research examines the role of producer-service, as well as the relationship between producer-service and manufacturing. And then an empirical study with data of the year 2000 to 2007 from statistical yearbook of Zhejiang province proves the interactive relationship of producer service and manufacturing industry in China. Finally, the study gives some practical guidelines to improve the growth mode of producer service to enhance the upgrading of manufacturing industry.

Abstract:China’s service sector has experienced a rapid expansion since the late 2000s. Ac-cording to the oﬃcial statistics, the service GDP share increased from 43% in 2007 to 55% in 2020. In this paper, we ﬁrst present evidence from additional datasets showing that the recent rise of the service sector is a robust phenomenon. We then use the ﬁrm-level survey data from China’s State Administration of Taxation between 2007 and 2015 to estimate ﬁrm TFP, capital and labour wedges, and to aggregate them into sectoral TFP and misallocation. We ﬁnd ﬁrm TFP growth in services to be much faster than that in manufacturing. However, misallocation in service deteriorated much more than in industry, such that the aggregate TFP in the industrial sector outgrew that in the service sector by 1 percentage points per year. The lower service TFP growth suggests that demand-side forces play a more important role in the recent expansion of China’s services.

The statistical data of Chinese economy since the reformation approve that service trade raise the output per capita through increasing capital per capita and accelerating the institution reformation. But the role of service import and export play in economic growth shows no balance, and as a whole, the service trade is inferior to the cargo trade. The function's deviation of the human capital and the technology advancement discovered in the empirical analysis provide us the theory basis for consummating Chinese service trade development mechanism.

Abstract:Along with speeding up the transfer of the service industry and going on the liberalization of international service trade,the service trade of China has obtained a quick development.However,at present,it still lacks the international competitive advantage,and its competitiveness is also lower.This article constructed a model to analyze each kind of factor,which has an influence on a country's competitiveness of trade in services,and used a statistical model to measure some factors' influence on China.At last,from three sides,this article offered some countermeasures to promote the development of Chinese service trade,and upgrade its competitiveness.
Servicification of Investment and Structural Transformation: the Case of China

Abstract:Structural transformation is a key feature of economic development. Traditional literature attributes it to changes in the sectoral composition of consumption. Different from it, we argue that "servicification" of investment goods, induced by investment-composition technological change, becomes an increasingly important reason for structural transformation, particularly for the rise of the services economy. Our study of the input output tables finds that the share of service inputs in investment goods has grown significantly in many countries since the 1980s, especially for investment-intensive economies such as China. To assess if the investment channel is quantitatively significant, we build a standard model with three broad sectors, but instead add an investment production function employing factors from all three sectors. Moreover, we incorporate investment-composition technological change by allowing the productivities of the three sectoral inputs to evolve over time. We calibrate the model to the Chinese economy from 1981 to 2014 and perform counter-factual experiments accordingly. We find that investment-composition technological change accounts for 33.1% decline in employment share of agriculture, 36.0% increase in employment share of manufacturing and 31.5% increase in employment share of services over the period. The magnitude of this effect on the share of services keeps growing, particularly after 2000. Our findings are not unique for China, but also apply to other economies experiencing the "servicification" of investment.

Abstract:This paper constructs a two-stage unbalanced growth model that includes agricultureindustry to analyze the deep causes of the violation of labor mobility pattern, so that to find the obstructive factors and solutions of services industry development. The difference of the elasticity of substitution between stages and ＂ceiling effect＂ of Services leads to the result that the path of services economic is ＂de-agriculturization＂ rather than ＂de-industrialization＂. The undeveloped status of services in China will continue for a long time. This study supports the viewpoint that the main reason for the small proportion of services industry in China is the limitation of services industry to localized market. This paper further views the sectional shortage of workforce in services industry as direct reason for the slow development of service industry. To speed up the process of China＇s service economy, insufficient development of producer services need to be solved.

Abstract:Based on input-output approach and comparative analysis method,the structure of interactive demand between producer services and manufacturing industries are analysed in this paper.It is found that the developmental level of economy and services,the property of producer services and manufacturing industries can influence the structure of interactive demand.And it can be concluded that with the development of economy and services,producer services is inclined to experience a self-enforcement and the knowledge intensive business services will be dominated.Finally,according to the present situation of China,several political suggestions on the interactive development between producer services and manufacturing industries in China are proposed.

Abstract:In order to make a good insight on the Beijing service trade against the development of China's international trade on service,the paper summarizes the wholes scale and the structure of Beijing's service trade. The analysis of model dynamic gives further evidence: the decline of competitiveness deviation is the main reason for the total incremental decline in volatility and the total deviation is becoming negative. The growth of traditional service trade is more dependent on the share component,but the function of competitiveness is more obviously in the emerging service trade project. This means that Beijing's service trade still grows faster than national service trade,But the scale is the main driving force,and the competitiveness decline gradually which lead the relative growth rate decline year by year.

Abstract:Using Share-Shift method,this paper explores the growth variation of both aggregate and structure of service industry among 15 cities in Yangtze River Delta.And the results show that,the service industry in Yangtze River Delta is in the process of spatial agglomeration and Shanghai City is the core area in the region,which dwarfs the growth rates of other cities.We also find that,consumer service sector can be defined as the mature sector in view of its large scale but relative low growth rate,and producer service sector can be termed as the growing sector due to its rapid growth rate and ever-increasing scale,while public service and semi-public service sectors being called as declining sector for their rather low growth rates.

Abstract:For the whole China and most regions,the tertiarization trend is prominent in terms of service nominal value-added,employment and consumption,on the contrary,which is distinct change in terms of service real value-added and the relative proportion of service import and export.The main cause for the increase of service employment proportion is the stagnant labor productivity growth in services.All the factors contribute to the "cost disease" in service consumption.For each region,the service real value-added proportion converges more rapid than service employment.The urban service consumption expenditure converges more quickly than the rural and the convergence speed in industrialization is faster than that in the tertiarization.

Abstract:There has been in China's export-oriented economy a transformation from less profitable manufacturing outsourcing to more profitable modern manufacturing and services outsourcing.Outsourcing activity is becoming intangible rather than physical.Service outsourcing becomes a major act in a new round of international industrial transfer.It has immeasurable effect on the rise of China's new economic forces in the long run:it offers a grand opportunity for China to adjust its industrial structure and the mode of economic growth,and to integrate its economy more profoundly into global market.To develop service outsourcing is thus a national strategic must.Our policy makers should take advantage of the fact that the developed countries worry much about the risks service outsourcing may bring forth,so as to find a way to improve and to facilitate our service outsourcing.In the paper,suggestions have been offered for government's reference.

Abstract:The demographic structure is an important factor influencing the development of the services industry. As the country with the world’s most serious aging problem, China’s service industry structure is likely to undergo profound changes in response to the rapid demographic transition. Therefore, this paper examines the effect of population aging on the development of the service industry in the context of China’s accelerating population aging. The study found that: (1) Population aging has a significant "inverted U" effect on the development of the services industry. (2) The impact of population aging on the development of the service industry has obvious regional and industry heterogeneity. The study of regional heterogeneity found that population aging in economically developed regions has a more obvious effect on the development of the service industry than in economically less developed regions. Industry heterogeneity studies found that population aging has an obvious promotional effect on the development of medical and other rigid demand industries, while the effect on other non-rigid demand industries is not significant. (3) The threshold effect test found that when the degree of population aging exceeds the threshold, the stimulating effect of population aging on the development of the services industry is no longer significant. The research in this paper provides useful insights into the likely response to changes in the industrial structure of the services industry, and offers some implications for countries with similar demographic profiles to China.

Abstract:In this article, we expand upon the springboard perspective of emerging markets in the service sector. We investigate the phenomenon of service firm internationalization in China and the distinct differences between service and manufacturing firms during international expansion. Using dynamic analysis of historical data for 363 service firms and 569 manufacturing firms from 2001 to 2007, we find that the internationalization of service firms in China is different from that of manufacturing firms in terms of resource requirement and experience exploitation. The internationalization of service firms relies more on international experience than corporate resources. Furthermore, we also identify the structural differences between hard and soft service industries. In China, identifiable intangible assets are found to be more important for the international expansion of hard service firms than they are for soft service firms. (C) 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Abstract:In this paper, we analyze the status and trends of globalization of services, and explore theoretic issues. Firstly, we describe the status and characteristics of globalization of services, showing that it has been one of important parts and latest characteristics of economic globalization. Secondly, we put forward main factors influencing the globalization of services, emphasize that these factors will be available and promote the process in the long term. Besides, we distinguish the "nominal growth" and "real growth" of services and globalization of services. Thirdly, we discuss the applicability of the classical labor division theory, pointing out that comparative advantage theory and factor endowment theory are applicable to the services division globally. Further more, we bring out the viewpoint of reverting goods and services to combination of factors to extend the application of the theory. We illuminate four traits of globalization of services, which are the importance of human capital, labor virtual flowing across countries, knowledge-intense producer services and non-economic influence. The conclusion is that globalization of services benefits the world economic growth and solving global problems, China should utilize this chance to promote its development, and related research should be reinforced and deepened.
